The Jeter card comes from a 2000 Subway Series box set from Topps. There was one token card per box. The checklist has at least 25 cards and Jeter is the most desirable in the set.
I like seeing Stan Musial on these regular rollers videos. 37 bucks for Musial when Brock Purdy cards were selling for 3700 hundred. It's an easy decision even in a PSA 4 grade.
Yes low population PSA 10s are so unpredictable. I sold a 1988 Topps Football Checklist PSA 10 for $400. I couldn't believe it but those set collectors will go that extra mile.
Love the series!!! Very underrated I believe... There sud be alot more eye balls on it then there is... Nothing else like it!!! I'm a regular roller, but who doesn't love being high!!!
Chris, I'm curious the increase in average regular rollers price over the past several years. $300-400 cards are still not regular for a lot of folks. Could you ask the research department to look into this "regular inflation." Thanks!
What was on the back? Could it be a Sport card magazine card insert? The card looks like some one with printing skills made it. I mean look at the blue borders, the same fleer font and a brightened up minor league photo of griffey perfectly cropped. Someone took their time to make it.
Chris, unrelated question: on Greg Morris consignments, Could use your advice on sending vintage sets including commons. Do you send low value cards that may sell for the .79 that could be consumed by the surcharge and % or do you have a floor? ie: only cards that could fetch $5 or more? Thanks for your advice
Its just you as many don't like to admit they are grinders that last second auction everything down to the penny because they are on a "regular" weekly budget....
I definitely need to check my son's sports cards that I've been saving starting in 1985 close to 40 years ago. There is basketball, baseball and football with some rookie cards. Where or how do you find out what they are worth.
I quit collecting from 1994 to 2005. I wish I could spot rare 90s inserts, that is where one can find some real gems if you know what you're looking at.
About a year ago I was getting ready to sell a sealed lot, mostly 86-93 sealed wax boxes, and I came across a long box with a bunch of single packs. I decided to open the packs for nostalgia because I already knew I was going to take a hit on the sealed boxes so the loose packs weren't going to fetch anything. I ended up pulling a 92 Score DiMaggio autograph.
Chris maybe you could give me your expertise on a lot of 15 5x7 mini posters mantle mays cepada yaz, ext, here’s my Selena, how would I get these mini’s graded and how much do you think lt would cost! Interested?
The 1987 Griffey should have been titled and fan concept card. People went crazy over the 1989 Fleer Billy Ripken obscene card. Like you said the black box and original error are not very valuable and extremely over produced. The other corrections are very value able. The Black scribble is the most findable. The white scribble and white box are substantially very rarer and valued than the other 3 variations . I completed that PC set a few years ago. I wish I could post for everyone to see. I sent Chris a email with a picture for my PC. If I could suggest to watch the You Tube pod cast where he explains why that happened. It's kind of funny.
Can someone please explain to me why the 89 Fleer Billy Ripken is considered an error? There isn't an error on the card. Also, I can't help but notice that the $400 Jeter card sold with $6 shipping, which is a pet peeve of mine. There's no way that should be shipped without $400 worth of insurance, and $6 isn't covering that, never mind the other shipping costs. Either charge the real cost of shipping or make it free.
Agreed. The generic, blanket "error" descriptor is technically inaccurate. It's not an "error" that Ripken wrote that on his bat - it was intentional! 😂 I guess it was an "error" that Fleer overlooked the profanity and allowed its production - but it should probably more accurately be called a variation or a short print or something.
Wish I had known about the autos on the back of the 1992 Pro Lines before recently. No idea the pull rate on those, but Ive thrown away thousands of those cards from lots Ive purchased over the years. WHOOPS.
autographs came one to a box on average, most are only worth a couple dollars. Muhammad Ali was the chase card, Bill Belichick is in the set along with Lynn Swann. Payne Stewart the golfer has an autograph in the set that is also very desirable
I’d be interested to know if anyone knows of a site where info is given on the rarity of autographs. One of th more famous was basketball legend Bill Russell who didn’t sign anything until a few years before his death. He said he thought it impersonalable and would rather have someone come up and say hello.
@@spic0li Great example! So many fakes, so few real autos!! In my example, when Bob Cousy retired from The Celtics he asked all the players to sign a ball for a memento. Russell told Cousy he didn’t need his signature, just pick up the phone!!
Re the fake Griffey, people are gettin 50 to 100 bucks right now on Ebay for fake 86' Jordans, listing them as such.. You can't really do anything if people are gonna jump on fakes for who knows what reason
At least the Jordan is an actual card so it’s hard to determine authenticity. The Griffey card literally doesn’t exist…there is no way eBay should allow it on their platform.
That Halliday buyer is a douche he coulda been honest and told the seller about his massive mistake....amazing buy on that Jeter good find there for $5
The seller would still have a few days to just cancel the sale because of an error in the listing. If the seller still didn't catch his blaring serial numbered mistake after three or four days then he deserves to lose out on the real price of the card.
@@johngarcia1340 yea I agree with that as well I'm just saying sometimes the buyer can let the seller know instead of what this guy did with promoting it like a badge of honor especially if its this big of a mistake monetarily wise.
@@GuyIncognito575 it is rare enough that monetary wise it could be listed with a high BIN Or BO on eBay if listed correctly. It might sit for awhile but eventually an avid collector will make a decent offer.

Thanks for including the homemade cards, Chris. They remind me of the "attic find" of yours you shared with us a while ago.

I was the person that sent in the Griffey card. Worst part of all of this is that I reported to eBay and they said nothing was wrong with the listing.

This the only reason I have the youtube app.
WOW on those LT and Mongo cards grading as a 10!
That home made card bit was awesome
great video! Those home made baseball cards really touched my heart, man! I wonder who made them.
Great episode!
How do I love thee regular rollers, let me count the ways: 1 random cards, 2 #lifelessons, 3 Cards are fun!
Maybe it’s just me, but I prefer regular rollers over high rollers.
100% prefer the back stories that come with them too

Awesome video 👍
Love the videos, I recently found lots of the same players 100-1000 of the same player where is the best place that you would sell these?
I would sell player lots on ebay
I have a card that I can't find listed anywhere. Can you help?
Hey Chris, have you looked into Red Rocket grading?
I have not heard of them.

they were pretty rare i owned an Aikman for years. The foil stamp in the bottom corner is what saved alot of them from being tossed.
It seems like the word "promo" is the new term to describe a custom card to try and pass it off as legit.
