City sewer system? Or private? Either way, dumping that much grease/oil byproduct into a drain...if that's what their drain looks like can only imagine what the main line looks like down stream...! The contents that hit/flow in that floor drain is so acidic, it is destroying the concrete flowing acrossed it as though it were in an actual septic tank...!

Water flowing by itself erodes concrete. I've been pouring and finishing concrete for 20 yrs. Salt will corrode your concrete too

Haha, I used to have to clear the drain at a steel foundry as an Industrial Mechanic because of all the crap that got into it. Was really annoying. When that place flooded (it rained a lot in the geographical location, storms etc, all winter) id use the sand to create makeshift rivers that ran through the plant.

I hate to say this to a guy who cleans drains for a living, but would it not make sense for a company like that to have their own drain cleaning machine? I imagine they put a lot of crap down that floor drain!

You know what they do. Have a drink cleaning machine but they don't know how to use it and the maintenance guy kinked up the cable So now it's useless until they get a new cable. But in reality yes it would be smart for a big company like that to have their own machine. But a lot of times it takes time to learn these things to use a properly that is, but you could always hire anybody off the street to run a drain machine and hopefully he catches on and doesn't get injured in the process. The drain cloggs up x times a year. If the cost of bringing in an unclogger is lower than the cost of maintenance and wages of internal hiring then guess what. It's outsourced. One unclogger can service 50 factories year round whilst one employee might have to unclog the drain twice a year.
You don't unclogged the drain everyday... No need to buy machine

Can I just say how gross it would be to go home smelling like BBQ sauce everyday? And then how it probably ruins cookouts and family/friends bbqs because all you can smell is the BBQ sauce and it makes your stomach turn!? That's what happened to me when I worked fast food, only it was the smell of cheeseburgers. Yeah, the plumbers and drain technicians definitely aren't cheap to call in, but if you can't get it with the stuff you have locally at home then it's worth the money to get somebody in to snake it out with the proper equipment if you need it. If you don't need it and you can do it yourself, that's always better because you're saving yourself some money and you get some hands-on experience. Thanks for watching. I JUST realized my 36 year old GF was flushing her feminine products into our septic tank.
Ive worked in a dental lab and mixed about 80 lbs of plaster a week. The city had to do some major work underground. I was 16 back then and over the years and moving the business 4 times i would build 5 gallon p-traps that would get full to the top with plaster and i never rinsed plaster down the drain it was from just the very small amount that did get down the drain. A portion of the problem was pounds and pounds of pumice we used for polishing.
When i replaced those buckets i couldn't wash them out from the smell. And i used a fair bit of bleach every day.

At around the minute mark there is a glossy ball looking thing by the grate. At the end of the video or when the camera is moved over the grate again you don't see it and it looks a little too shiny to be a mouse going down the hole. So whatever is by the grate at the beginning I believe that was it some kind of Knob or ball type thing.

this is not how you dispose of Grease. but if it's on the floor then you have no choice but to drain it so I guess this is what they doing they're just cleaning the floor and what's on the floor is Grace but you have to drain it

I worked in a cheese factory for a few years. I know they have to hose that floor down every day, or bacteria and mold start to form. Our floors were never this disgusting tho.

@@Jaythatdrainguy lol. It never bothered me. We use to eat the curds right out of the bin. Good stuff. It was a cheese factory that used only Amish milk. Now the milk was a different story. Sometimes it would have maggots or manure in it. We had to throw that out. And cleaning the whey separater was an hour long job. Hard work with some perks and good pay.

@@cancelhandles well the Amish milk would come in the old milk cans. They kept it cool in a bin that cold water poured into. We got it off the truck, and once it was inside the plant, we would have to check it for maggots and manure. Fortunately maggots and manure float. Any milk that looked bad was dumped. The milk would go through a pasteurization process, and then be dumped into open bins that were heated. After the salt and enzymes went in the curd would formed and the whey would get dumped into a bin, after going through a separater.
We sold the whey as a by product. Then we'd put huge squares of cheese into a large metal square, lined in cheese cloth. These boxes would be compressed, so that any remaining whey would be sqeezed out. We left the boxes to be compressed for about an hour. After that, we would take the cheese blocks out, wrap them in plastic bags, weigh them, decompress the bag, date it and put it in the walk in frig. It was not a boring job and I really enjoyed it.

Glad they have changed up drain cleaning machines for the better since I use to to that same job. Those Spartan spinning cannisters could beat you to death and God forbid you got a hole in the air swich ball or line because they would quit working.

Yeah I've never tried the Spartan. I'd like to get my hands on one to try it just to see how it works. A lot of the issues we come up with though are in apartment buildings and I don't know how that machine would work because it's more of thick cable. Very rigid if I'm not mistaken but I could be wrong and with our apartments that we got to deal with the copper brass that they use is very thin and cheap and I'd be concerned that it would do more damage then good.
Drains in Fred Meyers deli got this clogged all the time lots of grease not sure why they waited till it got this bad.

I can't even imagine the amount of work it will take them to now clean the floor well and all the bottom of equipment if its greasy from that flood. Pressure wash? But that will probably spread it worse without some provisions too.
