Honestly, a lot of people don't know how the drains run and in this situation the drain runs down to the garage below and into a catch base and then they get cleaned out on a regular basis. I think next time to help you with that just put the casket back on while cleaning the filter that way most of the big stuff won't go down I don't see how much more you could of done other than that. that whirlpool was awesome tho unassisted ones are the best.

It goes to a catch basin below and we clean those out regularly.
Why not put the basket right away? It would take longer, agreed, but all the garbage that went to drain would go to basket.

Just think. With a tad bit of effort while standing there, you really could have cleaned the lot by stirring up the sediment instead of kicking it aside as the flow ended. “F”

I thought that drink cup would for sure present a problem, but it looks like the pull of that water flow was more than enough to suck that cup down thru the pipe. amazing amount of suction for sure!
Yeah I know. I didn't even realize it went down until I started editing it. As you could see, I grabbed the plastic spoon in that out of there and water bottle bag. Sometimes you can't see it all. I'm confused. The lid was a grate and not a stopper. Why was the water not draining when the grate was in place? It couldn't have been an air flow issue.

That was an "angry" drain and the debris that went down like that entire cup was no match for the volume of water and suction present there LOL.
If this discharges to a combined sewer or mistakenly to a sanitary sewer there wont be a wipe left hanging around with that power rinse....

You’re not supposed to open the grate. It’s there to keep trash from clogging up the pipe. Just clear the grate, don’t open it.
What's underneath there? Do you know do you know where all that water goes to? I do. It goes to a catch basin down below in the garage and that gets cleaned out on a regular basis so all the garbage that goes down still gets cleaned out. Jaythatdrainguy. After the water goes through the catch basin, Where does the water go next? Does it go into the sanitary sewer treatment plant? or directly to the river, lake, or creek after the catch basin? I'm curious because older storm drains go to the sanitary sewer which is no longer allowed on new installations in the United States at least where I live and new storm drains where I live go to the storm sewer which goes to the lake or water ways and doesn't get treated because storm sewers are not for toilets, they are for stormwater waste only separate from the sanitary sewers because there are two types of sewers one is for sewage only and one is for storm water only. I'm just curious
So these go to the sanitary drains and go to the treatment plant. Any drains like on the city street they go directly to the lake. That's why up here they say. Make sure you don't throw anything down the drain like oil and stuff like that. A lot of people will change your oil and pour down the catch basins so yes this all goes to a treatment plant. I used to love doing this when I worked at the YMCA. The parking lot is sunken down right where the drain is and the water could get over a foot deep if the grate got blocked up.

Post 10 clears the grates with either his rake or feet and sometimes both. He doesn’t lift them so all the trash can go down the drain to go into the oceans or lakes.
