    Auto buy for me. My Grandfather designed the radar system on the F86. Wish he was still around to play this with me.

    This is an instant buy for me! I have a friend who flew these as a Major in the JASDF, and his exact Sabre will be the first Livery I make for this!

    Having seen these either in static displays or, sitting on a stick at my local airport the past 20 years, i've finally seen one flying at an airshow when visiting the USA... To have it now in the sim is just awsome. Thanks for a great review!

    I remember back in 1964 as a 5 year old tyke in Des Moines, Iowa crawling with my friends into the air intake of a decommissioned F-86 in the city park. After a couple weeks some punks took a hammer to the cockpit glass and for a while we were able to sit in the cockpit seat amongst the crinkled glass bits, smell that oily cockpit and pretend we were shooting down enemies. Can't wait to get this and fly amongst the clouds. Thanks for the great review !!

    I remember seeing a preserved one at Leuchars and being amazed at how small it was! The RAF also used Canadair Sabres. Those aircraft being passed onto Yugoslavia, IIRC.
    The Aussies made possibly the most extensive modifications to the Sabre. Giving it an Avon engine and 30mm ADEN cannons.

    One of my favorite characters from the TV series "Star Trek: The Next Generation" Michael Dorn who played Mr. Worf owned one of these during the shows taping but was under contract not to fly it. That was the only good thing to come out of the cancelation of that show. Just thought I'd share that.

    It's me. I'm the little voice in the back of her mind saying," DCS..... DCS! 😂." It's ok, I'll wait for the world map and try again 😈. All jokes aside, MSFS does look fantastic and I love the content. Thanks as always AV!

  • @NegdoshaManido

    Those early jet engines took forever to spool back up if they were allowed to unspool all the way to idle. Got alot of guys in trouble back then. If you got behind the power curve due to the engine taking so long to spool up on approach, you wound up doing the "Saber dance" down the runway, and you weren't going to recover.

    • @otterspocket2826
      @otterspocket2826 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I don't know about the Sabre, but DH Vampire pilots used to deploy the airbrake on approach so they could keep the engine spooled up in case of a go around.

    • @NegdoshaManido
      @NegdoshaManido 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@otterspocket2826 Yes, that was a common practice back then, to enable keeping the engine spooled without getting too fast on the approach. It was used in the F-104 especially, because it had "blown" flaps, where engine bleed air was used to energize the boundary layer for slower approach speeds. You really had to keep the engine power up, otherwise the bleed air would not be sufficient for the system to work. The really awful thing about it was that one side would quit working first, and then you had a stall on one wing before the other. Needless to say, a very bad day.

    • @PTurbo86
      @PTurbo86 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's right. On approach, you drug it in under decent power, full dirty landing configuration with speed brakes deployed. If a go around was needed, you could jam the throttle full forward and just pop the air brake back off, and go.

    The beeping might be linked to the fact the aircrafts electrical generator is *utterly* hopeless at lower RPMs, (though the real aircraft didn't have such a warning system to my knowledge) granted its not really a factor in the 70% range, more like

    Is there a reason why the jet will just do nothing but want to pitch up constantly? Is there some way to set the trim or?? If the answer is in the video forgive me the buffering is nonstop but I'm about to lose my mind with this jet wanting to just shoot up to the moon 🙃

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Video buffering is on your end there... but trim it will, mine flew fine, check your weight balence too?

    • @Schwxrzritter
      @Schwxrzritter 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AvAngel oh I know the buffering is on my end my service is being dog ass right now, but I've messed with the weight and it'll behave slightly better but it just wants to pull up as if it was trimmed to do so. I'll dig around and see if it's something I'm doing but it's virtually unflyable unless I just fight the stick 100% of the time 🥲

    • @haverelmink

      Wing span input is used to compute range from an adversary during dogfighting. Dial in the wingspan, match the adversary’s wingspan to the HUD graphic, and you know you’re at the gun’s harmonization range for the ideal gun shot.
