The song really hit him hard. It must have struck a chord, reminding him of the brutal reality of life and how knowing more about life is both a blessing of wisdom and a harsh burden to carry and sometimes fear
Many people are crying when listening to this song. It is worth both - sad and happy tears.

This is one of the best songs in the competition. So emotional and deep.
Not every song has to be upbeat and a pop song. If a country can do a ballad right, which the Netherlands have done! It turns out amazing!

The first time I listened to this song, I just was a mess, I just started to cry so freaking hard. It just punched me in the heart but at the end I was just smiling the end was so positive and optimistic. This song made me feel way too many emotions that's why it's my number one this year.
The entire song is just beautiful in every way possible and it's just human experience and raw honesty in the form of music. His voice is conveying everything so you just feel it. The sound evolving, growing with more voices until the end, this is just perfect. The Netherlands knows how to create art, it's just pure Art.
Miceal is literally me except I had to stop for a few moments because I was crying too much!
You can perfectly see the constrast between someone who has feelings and listen to the meaning of a song, and someone who's completely death inside. Don't be like the death one. Hope you're okay Miceal lad.
You can feelings and still find this boring. For example Switzerland gave me goosebumps as soon as the song started. While Bulgaria and The Netherlands do nothing for me.

Like she did, she isn't listening to what it says, instead of only focussing on the beat, she should open herself to the absence of one. What does that say. Everybody can make music, but not everybody can use it too convey something.

The whole video I just wanted to give Crystal and Miceal a big hug. I think this is not a winner song but this will be an impressive and I hope a rememberable moment during the eurovision final.
i agree, from the vocal and lyric alone this one deserves to be remembered as a stand out song, so deep compared to the usual Euro fodder.

I loved these different range of reactions. It shows how different people are and how they connect to songs, or not. Some connect through the music (more upbeat or not), some connect through the lyrics. This is a deep song. Not everyone can connect to it on that level - and that is fine. That's not a bad thing, nor should those people be put down for it. That said, it also goes the other way round. People who do connect to this song, who get emotional, who gets shivers, there's nothing wrong with that either. The song isn't boring to them. They FEEL it. That's something to cherish, if a song can evoke so many emotions - good or bad - that means it gives people room to grow. I like the fact that The Netherlands decided to send in a song that's daring in the ESC. I find the range of different songs interesting. If all the songs were of the same quality or genre, I would find that boring. Showcase what you got. ESC isn't about the party, it's about the music - all of it.

This song touched me from the start, so meaningful and recognizable. Beautiful voice and background vocals. Miceal's reaction also touched me. You don't have to say anything to show what your feelings are. The building may be a bit late, but it fits his story. It grows by the second. The Netherlands is again going for quality. Go for it Netherlands!

Uptempo: Belarus, Ireland, Russia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Israel, Malta, Austria, Czech Republic, Greece, Iceland, San Marino, Serbia, Armenia, Latvia, Germany - 16
Mid Tempo: Australia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Sweden, Ukraine, Moldova, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Spain, United Kingdom - 11
Slow: Slovenia, Belgium, Croatia, Norway, Romania, Estonia, Poland, Albania, Bulgaria, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Italy - 14
There are more up-tempo songs than slow songs this year and yet people still complain... seriously get over yourself.
Jordan Munn a lot of your midtempo songs can easily be lumped into slow as “ballads”. That’s now 25 songs that aren’t uptempo. Then, go through those uptempo songs and sort through the ones that aren’t any good (I’ll be very conservative and say only Armenia is poor). Down to 15 songs. Of these 15 how many are likely to make it to the final? Only Russia, Iceland, Israel, Austria and *possibly* one of Cyprus, Azerbaijan or Greece. That leaves just 5 uptempo songs in a sea of 21 other slow or ballad-y songs in the grand final. Get over yourself, this is a slow year for Eurovision and you’re not doing anyone any favours trying to deny it.

There are many similar slow songs (Switzerland, Bulgaria, Romania) and a few in my opinion very boring ones, but I think The Netherlands has sent the best song this year. I don’t normally like ballads but this one has build, meaning, emotion and is beautifully delivered. I’m just sick of all of the complainers. Eurovision is not just all about being a party. I love Iceland, Azerbaijan, Israel and Russia too, but if I had to choose a winner this year it would be Netherlands.

God, Jeangu's voice is like silk. ...amazing.....HOWEVER, i feel that the Eurovosion rules have restricted this song........it badly needs another minute of length to "Grow" 😉😉......its just building nicely but it ends.........such a shame....it just feels unfinished/foreshortened to me....

I can't pick a winner, I even like the Russian's weird song, for once and that is a rare thing.

It's so interesting to see different reactions. You can see people who relate to the song and those who just can't cuz their experience is different. I'm definitely with the first group, even on my first listen I was so astonishing by how personal it felt for me and it makes me tear up like half of the times I listen to it - and I do that a lot. It's definitely in my top 3 alongside Switzerland and Italy.

Eurovisionhub, please! Let reactors react that can appreciate al kind of genres. You have to many reactors that say a song is boring when there is a ballad to react.
And i am not een ballad lover myself but some i can appreciate. In other words: OPEN UP!
This is an interesting song, an intelligent song...so perhaps not a good choice for anyone wanting a bomb or an overdose of camp. Jeangu has a voice like honey, with depth. I remember my first listen, without listening to the words, and almost writting it off as dull and boring. Then I listened to the lyric. I think its something we see as we get older, 'the more we learn the less we know'. Life makes no sense the longer you live it. I really like this now.

Oh my...love to see some of you connect with this song so well and others absolutely don’t. Jeangu already said it’s a ‘love or hate it’ kind of song. I connect with it also. It’s different, it’s quality, it’s Jeangu, and that’s what I like. This is not a song written for Eurovision, it’s a song he wrote while he was in a difficult period in his live and that’s what I feel too. Please listen to the live performance of this song. This struck me hard the first time I heard it, and it still does. it's just one of these songs I can only listen to when I'm fully present, I want to feel it! Everything seems to come right from his heart : the music, the lyrics and his voice...

At the start of watching these videos, I liked Iago & Joan, I've got a thing about Spanish men with dark hair. I always have had, ever since I met any Spaniards. Their voices, no matter what languages they're speaking, send shivers down my spine. Micael is not my type ... well, he wasn't until he showed he has soul. I've never met a man who's as moved by music as much as I am. A man who can have such strong emotions is a man who will be a sensitive lover & a thoroughly decent human being. That is far more important than looks or how they sound. He seems like a good, kind man who is comfortable with himself. I wonder if he's a musician himself. I'm so glad I started watching their videos.

I reacted like Micael when I first heard this song. And I wasn't alone in the room. I felt like overwhelmed. It hit me hard. The voice, the lyrics. Gorgeous song. It will do well I guess, at least with the jury. It is one of the better constructed songs this year at the contest. As for the audience. People like the British girl aren't interested in like poetic, honest, singer songwriter, well constructed songs. They want to party, or to have fun. I get it, it's not for everyone. Or they don't do emotions well, they cope with emotions by just going on with life and not contemplate too much: waste of time.

If you don't have feelings for the lyrics or the song...you haven''t experienced much in life I think. So the girl from the UK...it's okay you are bored and everything.
