- Jeangu Macrooy maakte gisteravond bij ons zijn songfestivalnummer bekend: ‘Grow’. Bij dit nieuws een prachtige muziekvideo, die in onze uitzending in zijn geheel te zien was. Er kwamen veel positieve reacties op het nummer en de videoclip, maar het gaat natuurlijk om de live-uitvoering. Die speelde Jeangu vanavond voor het eerst bij ons!

Deffinatley agree. Wasn't keen when I first heard it but now its like 'WOW' what a voice and those lyrics have a lot of depth - you dont see that a lot in a Eurovision song. Not sure it can win but, deserves to be remembered if only for the reason it brings some quality music to Eurovision.
This is simply amazing. Netherlands could win again, this is the most touching song of the contest so far (and by far)

This will for sure get a lot of people's attention during the show, because it isn't a cheesy ballad with a "normal" struction, it's a piece of art translated to music
I think it will be a rewind from 2017, Salvador got no attention at all but he rocked it with his beautiful voice

Dit is na Arcade weer een inzending waarbij ik volledig in trance raakte van de live uitvoering, zo'n geweldig lied en het kan haast niet maar wordt steeds mooier !!

When I first heard the song I was pretty dissapointed, probably because I was judging everything and didnt take the time to actually feel the song, now I heard the live performance I have to say that i'm blown away by this beautiful song and performance. I have a feeling this could really be a dark horse if it gets a good place in the running order🔝

Totally agree, i think it will be a nice deep and different song in all the styles at the ESF. His voice is so warm and the song matches the theme of ESF "open up" perfectly. Sensitive people feel connected right away. People who don't want te explore their feelings have more difficulty with it.

How envy national delegations that chose quality entries no matter if they are for ESC or not. It's a profound song, nicely sung, with great message and a talented singer that express with his voice so much emotions that come from the deep. Congrats The Netherlands! Very well done again this year and deserve a great great result in Rotterdam.

Unfortunately I only saw this live performance by Ben Dolic (th-cam.com/video/ALL02J1ffag/w-d-xo.html) and I am very excited to see how our song will be implemented on stage. But no matter, I prefer the Dutch entry and just because I'm older (old?), your beautiful song hits me like a hammer. I very much hope that the curse will end this year and the host country will be given many points for this blast. 💚 💛 💖

Most likely. He has been in preparation for Eurovision for months now and he wouldn’t do this live performance if it wasn’t with the people who are going with him. One of them by the way is his twin brother.

This is such a beautiful song! I can't get it out of my head and sing it all day!
After hearing this song for the first time I didn't really feel it and wasn't that impressed.... after I isolated myself and really listened to the song and the message of the song I will make a slight adjustment to my first opinion of the song.
This is the best song the Netherlands has send to the Eurovision song contest so far.
Wasn’t sure about the build up and choices that are made in the song, but it definitely made me feel something! And now listening to it more, I kinda like the unexpectedness.

Ik was gisteravond moe, en half in slaap aan het vallen op de bank..... het wachten op je lied hield mij wakker. Net ontwaakt en inmidddels verhuist naar het bed. Maar nu meer wakker, oortjes in en luisteren.

Alsof Jeangu mij omarmt, mij troost en het voor mij zingt....... Ik heb ooit een drukke veilinghal muisstil gekregen met sacrifice van Anouk te zingen. En verdomd als men de tekst goed meekrijgt, het visuele plaatje past dan raakt Jeangu die hele zaal...... de kunst is ook het stukje stilte erna behouden zoals Nico dat zo goed zei in DWDD. @Tom Toont maar weer aan hoe weinig gevoel en compassie je hebt door dit te zeggen tegen iemand waarvoor dit lied wèl ontzettend veel betekenis heeft. Maar ook jij zal ooit leren dat dit waardevolle eigenschappen zijn die belangrijk zijn in ieders moeilijkste tijden. Maar wellicht denk je teveel in het kader van Eurovisie, of doe je er gewoon (te) luchtig over.

It’s great that The Netherlands made a really emotional and a relatively slow song, cause in comparison to all the other countries with their uptempo pop and edm tracks, we will really stand out AGAIN this year!

Jair What surprises me that not more countries are trying to swim against the stream and come up with something that is artistic on high level and stands out. I mean, it shows that it can work.
Next year the Dutch might go FolkMetal when Floor Jansen is going to represent the Netherlands (I have no inside knowledge but it is an educated guess).

This is soooooo beautiful. The video was great but the live version is breathtaking. His voice is ear piercing! The building of the song has now more impact due to the music and backing vocals compare to the video. I was worried about the end because it is abrupt. While you are just in a positive flow. But the reverberation after the last note is truly masterful. Jeangu stops singing but the echo of his voice lingers. So beautiful. I read a lot of criticism that it takes too long before the song builds up and that viewers drop out. With this version - the high female voice at 1:26 wow! - people keep watching. With a good staging, this song can become the big surprise of ESC2020. Good luck The Netherlands!
