As a child, I used to eat pickled pigs feet all the time. I've eaten pickled pigs lips as well...not as much a fan of those. Pickled sausage and pickled eggs are also good. I've had the canned brains...not bad on toast. It came from a time when there was meat rationing by the US government. Farmers had the meat in abundance but the government regulated the sale of meat (claiming the need for meat scarcity was due to the war) to the point a black market was created and people were imprisoned for buying and selling meat. Offal was one of the few items which was allowed. The government even had a program promoting that Americans should eat more offal. The government also had another program telling people they should use their rations to make gifts for the troops to lift up their spirits. The canned brains are treated with curing salts before canning...so they stay pink and have a Spam-like taste.

I get it, people do edible bugs for shock value mostly, BUT... Those can absolutely be good. Chapulines adobados, if you can ever get your hands on them, are DELICIOUS. A college friend brought some over from his Mexico trip and dared the bros to eat them during class break. Once the initial shock was gone we ended up eating the entire bag, and if they were available locally to me I'd take them over most chips.

I'm in UK but my cousin in SC in America send a box of goodies for our family once and included pickled pigs feet. The jar broke in transit and basically ruined the whole box and managed to eat through a lot of the contents. I thought he sent fetuses lol..I was horrified. I'll never forget the sight of my kids face as we opened the box lol

Ok, when something is too spicy, a spoon full of honey will neutralize the heat better than any dairy.
That’s why “hot honey” sauce tastes so damn good. I always use honey, Frank’s wing sauce and a bunch of red pepper flakes. Goes great on fried chicken, especially wings!

Bullshit, capsaicin dissolves best in fat or alcohol, yoghurt or 30% cream are the best, followed up by shot of vodka. Honey just traps it and you still will blow up on toilet, fat is what will save you
I don't know about Florida, but around where I live in the southern US, you can find pickled pigs' feet from several different brands at most supermarkets. I don't personally like them, but i know people who gleefully suck them down.

I worked at a stop-n-rob in the deep south and we sold those pigs feet. We ordered the jars 5-10 gallon sized about once a month and sold them signally mostly to older people.
People who already lost their taste buds.
My family owned a wholesale distributor company that we sold snack food to convenience stores. Pigs feet were a hot item along with pickles and pickled eggs
Only in 1 gallon glass jars. Never saw 5 or 10 gallon, believe you are mistaken about size

I'm getting to a point where I might need to cut meat out of my diet due to health reasons, but I'd never force fake-meat onto someone else. It's wrong, ridiculous, and some of those "better than meat" items, specifically burgers, are actually way, way, WAY worse for you than actual meat due to all the added crap.

I grew up eating pork hocks/pickled pigs feat. Haven't had them in years, but I remember enjoying them.
I have had them and thought they were good. More bones than meat. Maybe they had something different than what I remember having.

Just to say, if you want the real Haggis (which includes Lungs) you'll need to visit either Scotland or Canada - Actually you should visit Scotland anyway to learn about proper Aberdeen Angus Beef (what's labelled as "Angus" in the USA is not the same thing) as well as the amazing bounty of seafood and of course whisky... and no, to remind Guga, "Scotch" Eggs are not "Scottish" Eggs.
I think Guga knows about Aberdeen-Angus Beef. It's the predominant breed in Argentina, a country he knows best.
Even in the US, I’m pretty sure if you privately purchase the animal from a farmer first and then pay them to slaughter and butcher it, it’s not subject to USDA regulations. As long as it’s not being butchered *for commercial sale* I think it’s fine. Guga has both the connections and the means to do something like that, plus he’d also be able to get a ton of good meat for his freezer!

Lol The Century Egg is not meant to be eaten by itself. You add it to soups or rice porridge smashed up to give it a funky flavor (Like Oyster/Fish/Shrimp sauce) that compliments the blandness.

Century eggs cut the egg into 1/8 wedges and serve on top of firm tofu cut to exactly 2in x 1in x 1cm. Optional but you can drizzle about a teaspoon of chili oil on top. Delicious

Haggis is amazing, if you ever go to Scotland, get a haggis supper with chippy sauce (supper means you get chips/fries with it. Chippy sauce is brown sauce mixed with vinegar)
