When a blood sample from an HIV-positive person is collected in an EDTA blood test tube, how long is the HIV virus alive, i.e. how long is it possible to transmit the infection through that blood? Please answer this question sir it is very useful and necessary.
Hello Dr Palmer! Please could you make a video about poppers? I never take drugs and am not interested in that at all, but do sometimes use amyl nitrate poppers to facilitate sex (I am a gay male bottom). Is this safe to use? What are the risks? I am avoiding the ones known to cause eye problems. Would be grateful for your advice 🙏🏻
Dr.If the cd4 cell count is 500 in HIV blood sample then is it possible to spread HIV even through a single drop of blood? Please reply with clear explanation sir
Can't come to any conclusion as you can have a high viral load or low viral load regardless of level of CD4 count. So in the blood you need to know the level of viral load. If someone is Undetectable, viral load of below 200 copies, and its been that low for 6 months, then HIV won't be passed on. The CD4 is a function of how long the person has had HIV and not on treatment. I hope that makes sense. Kind regards Dr Bret Palmer
My friend and I are medical students. Once, while taking a blood sample from an HIV positive person, my friend unknowingly pricked the needle from which the blood sample was taken. Through this 6 drops of blood went inside. The blood was then tested for HIV viral load and no viral load was undetected. So is there a chance of HIV infection through this? Sir please reply
Very unlikely, but risk is not zero. If he started Post Exposure prophylaxis within 72 hours then this would offer best protection. Otherwise will have to test at 6 weeks and at 3 months. He shoukd also test for Hep B and C. I hope this helps Kind regards Dr Bret Palmer
Not sexually transmitted via micro tears in the skin. But through shared needles there would be a theoretical risk if someone had a viral load below 200 copies per ml. What risk did you have?
1).How long is the HIV virus alive in a blood sample taken from someone who has HIV ie how long is there a high chance of infection? 2).Can even a single drop of blood in a blood sample taken from an HIV patient (4 hours after blood draw) cause infection? Sir
Something I have always been curious about. Does pubic hair act as a preventive barrier to skin on skin sexually transmitted diseases around the groin area? Obvs not crabs!
Yes, and as the hair is a bit thicker it can increase sensations as both pubic mounds are rubbed together, grind as opposed to thrust. Or is that too much information?
Happy to answer any individual questions. A full private consultation is expensive. If you are still interested then feel free to contact me via my Instagram feed.. link in my pin comments at the top of most videos. I apologise for the slow reply as very busy. Thank you Kind regards
@@DrBretPalmer I unfortunately do not have instagram. Is it possible to book a consultation with you from another plattform and is this still possible if i'm not a UK citizen?
If someone have multiple partners in her childhood. And her all partners are not adult. What is the risk for her.she has get any sti and std .and she tested bacterial vaginosis.there is any sti bacteria.
First I'd report it to the police, but I maybe taking your comment too literal. Have a sexual health screen. Bacterial Vaginosis can come about even if you've never had sex, BV is not an STI. I hope this helps.

@@DrBretPalmer OK thank you... How to find HIV Viral Load Sir What is it based on ?

@iugranjith5339 good luck with your exams, study hard.
Can HIV be transmitted through a person's blood when the HIV viral load is undetectable? Sir
Waiting for your reply sir please reply 🙏

What risk did you have?
I have some doubts about HIV. I am a medical student so understanding of this is essential. By that I will save myself. Can you help me sir
What are the doubts you have around HIV?
1).How long is the HIV virus alive in a blood sample taken from someone who has HIV ie how long is there a high chance of infection?
2).Can even a single drop of blood in a blood sample taken from an HIV patient (4 hours after blood draw) cause infection? Sir
1: about an hour
2: possible but unlikely.
If under 72 hours use PEP, if after 72 hours then retest in 6 weeks and then 3 months.
