In my view, it wasn't impossible for both of them to escape if the pressure didn't got the best of Shane: they stopped, he shoot Otis, and they had an entire wrestling on the floor before he got up to walk away, which is when the walkers finally got to Otis.
I just love Daryl in this episode! He faithfully helps out while everyone else is hither and yon. He’s a keeper. 😁 I see Shane as a master manipulator. He knows how to play people’s emotions against them. All except Dale (Dale saw him aim the gun at Rick and get that murder look in his eyes). Also, Shane could have shot Otis in the head and prevented him from a horrible death. But instead he chose to shoot his leg. I don’t trust Shane at ALL! He is scary.
Shane is a manipulator. whenever I see reactors that say that they like Shane I'm like yup he's manipulating the audience so well. just like he did to this guy..💀😭😭 then when I rewatching the walking dead made me dislike the character so bad.
Otis was supposed to be alive as a bait , that's why he shot him leg... it was the only option in my opinion. But... this changed Shane so much this... it give him much potential to be a threat for all near him.
Best part of watching people react to TWD is knowing what happens in the future and listen to the comments and insights and you think for your self "Oh you just wait"
This was Shane's downfall. Poor Otis. He felt guilty for accidentally shooting Carl and paid with his life. And poor Pamela for losing her husband like this.

As much as I don't like Shane and my heart still hurts so much over Otis..he did offer Otis to leave him behind and get the medical equipment to Carl. I do truly believe that Shane felt immense guilt over doing it. I was so mad when I first watched it though and I still hate to watch that scene.
I don't think he felt guilty to me it seemed like he had unlocked a new level of control. if he can kill an inoccent person he damn well knew that he could do the same to Rick.

@dukerollo1116 True, they were the very best of friends, and he did see carl as his son, but that guy was still not in his right mind. for many other different reasons at that... 😬 and I honestly never came close to liking character, but I did see his potential.
Hello 👋 Another awesome video, 👍👍 Shane shot Otis because Shane wanted to, he feels no guilt, that pretending in front of everyone was just that, his real feelings shows the evil in his eyes when he is looking in the mirror and finds the patch of hair Otis ripped out, 😏 In my personal opinion had Shane been as awesome and smart as he thinks he is, he would have opened the FEMA trailer door a whole lot quieter and would have thrown a couple of flares so they could have went back the way they had come, but since he stupidly chose not to, once they got behind the school’s security fence they should have started putting a knife in heads, but he did not do that either, yes he told Otis to go on ahead, but there was no way Otis was going to leave him so Shane should not have done what he did, especially since the Walkers were far enough behind them, considering he had time to stop, shoot and then wrestle around with Otis, there was absolutely no reason for him to have shot him except for his own twisted joy of it, RIP Otis, 😪 (as I said just my opinion) I thought Daryl and Andrea’s going out to look for Sophia was a great neutral part in between the chaos, 👍 Have a safe and wonderful week, 👋😀👋
I don't think shane is a bad name for doing what he did , yeah it was fucked up but there was only one way Hershel would get the equiptment he needed to save carls life. Both of them limping like that , it was either one of them or none of them made it out. Its not like him basically killing otis didnt bother him , cuz you can see it does. But he cant hold onto that feeling of guilt because he's doing what he sees fit to make sure Carl and lori stay safe.
Shane is the giy who will do absolutely and utterly Anything to protect what he believes are his people. Does that make him dangerous? Yes. Does it make you love him? Absolutely. Might come back to bite you tho, that one.
Amazing how important some things were in the early days. As the time goes on, so many of the them become meaningless. Don't get too attached to anybody - this show was stressful for the people you come to care about being lost. Also great to see how Carol and Daryl started off. From episode one, I knew Shane was going to be a bad guy, never had a single doubt. Really enjoying this trip down memory lane! Nice.
Shane didnt kill otis to save carls life he killed otis to save his own. He could of just as easily gave otis the respirator and left himself behind as a distraction
