Hi, great video. I have a 2019 talon 3 and was looking to do the same thing. I am a beginner mtn biker. Would you be able to go into a little more detail for me? Is the kit all you used with the chain ring, shifter, derailleur and cassette? Did you have to change the bottom bracket?
I used the items in the kit only. Later on, I changed the bottom bracket just for preference, not because of a problem with the original. The original works just fine. I would order the kit with a 32 tooth chainring. I ordered the 34 and had to go down to get my chain more in line. I love my bike now with this 1x11 conversation!
The 34t chainring was too close to the chain stay when spaced inward to get a better chain line. The 32t I have now corrected this. Here is a follow up video a few months after my conversion. Good luck! th-cam.com/video/9SdVKegZ-_M/w-d-xo.html

I don’t understand the hype on the 1x, I have a talon 2 with a 2x and in really steep hills I use it. 1x is only for simplicity but I never have problems with my front derailer.
I want the quiet trail ride and durability for trail rides. Much quieter and less to break. 2x isn't a problem. Now that I went 1x11, I won't go back though. Thanks
There's less chance of chain drop with a 1x, less faff with shifting since you only have to think about 1 shifter, less gear ratio crossover so your shifts feel properly progressive instead of getting torque dip while climbing, and more reliable. There aren't really any major problems with a front derailleur for casual riders, but a 1x setup is by no means overrated. It's a true, advantageous upgrade if you ever feel the need for it.
I don't know about that one. Is yours Shimon? I would think it would if yours is Shamano. I would do a little research before I bit the bullet though. Good luck
Wondering if you have an update on how this has been working out for you so far? I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my 2017 talon 3. How's the shifting on yours with the 11 speed
Hi Jonathan can we talk in facebook or something?, I have the same bike as you, the bike of this video has the same hub as the talon 4 2016 so I think it will work
What year Talon is that? Is it the 26er? I've got the 2009 Talon 0, 26" wheels (mine was 3x9 though) and have just ordered a 1x11 Deore 11-51t with 32t chainring. Searched YT for "1x11 conversion mtb" and this Talon conversion was the first hit! So this was a very useful video. :) Curious if you did fit some additional spacers since this vid? Went tubeless last week using the original non-tubeless rims, some gaffer tape, and some tubeless ready Schwalbe Hans Dampfs. No issues yet, so I'll see how that works out.
You can't backpedal using the cheaper sunrace cassette. If you had bought the shimano versions of the 11 speed cassette, then the backpedal and noise would not be as big an issue if it even has issues at all. Shimano holds the patent for the hyperglide system which ensures optimal shifting and drivetrain. konstantin.shemyak.com/cycling/HG/hyperglide.html

The Bottom bracket(part inside the frame) or do you actually mean the crank arm? This set does both. www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B07F5DN2DM/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B07F5DN2DM&linkCode=am2&tag=youtube7100-20&linkId=a17d5983bfff62e4c825a15ae2bfd10f
Force Built it was the socket extension tool you used just before sliding the crank from the BB. I believe it’s chrome & black.
@@wille2075 The kit I linked above has that piece in it as well as a bottom bracket remover. They pretty much give you the BB tool when you buy the crank arm puller(The tool you want). Hope this helps!
Force Built thank you for the quick replies! I appreciate you. I’ll check out the links you’ve provided.
is that your stock hub on talon 3?did you installed micro spline? or not?
The hub is completely stock. I just removed the old cassette and replace with the 11 gear one. Did not install micro spline.
Can U tell me how long is the chain in Ur bike?
I don't know. I just followed some TH-cam videos that show how to get your chain length correct.
@@mangoshake 100% correct! Getting to hit out trails tomorrow! Can't wait. I haven't ridden since installing a dropper post!
@@ForceBuilt a hardtail with a dropper and a 1x are all you really need to shred any trail. Ride safe!
Why not keep the stock mid plate?
You could have keep the stock mid chain ring. I decided to go with a narrow wide because of preference. The stock was working fine. Thanks
Did it come with a master/quick link
It comes with a standard master link. Thanks!
Can i do this on Gt Avalanche 2019 3x9 to 1x11??
I don't know about that one. Is yours Shimon? I would think it would if yours is Shamano. I would do a little research before I bit the bullet though. Good luck
Wondering if you have an update on how this has been working out for you so far?
I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my 2017 talon 3.
How's the shifting on yours with the 11 speed
Everything still working great. I love this upgrade on my bike. I highly recommend!
@@ForceBuilt thanks was your cassette a 42/46/52?
Is it good for talon 4 2016?
I would think so.
Hi Jonathan can we talk in facebook or something?, I have the same bike as you, the bike of this video has the same hub as the talon 4 2016 so I think it will work
I have the same bike. Would a 12 speed conversion work as well, or is 11 speed the max? Thanks
11 is max I am pretty sure. Thanks
Dis you change your Hub?
No. The cassette fit right on the original hub! Thanks for ur comment.
@@ForceBuilt ThankYou for Your fast response. Im planning to buy a bike. I like color of the talon 3 2018 but its 2019 already haha
@@ForceBuilt Nice Video :)
Probably 2 or 3 years old. It is a 27.5 bike. Nothing has changed since this video. I love the 1x11!
I have got my cheap cassette dialed in. I can back pedal as many times as I want and the chain stays on. I will make a video showing this soon. Thanks for you comment. P.S.Also I no longer have any noise with the 32t be chainring.
Here is my new video of back peddling this bike. th-cam.com/video/9SdVKegZ-_M/w-d-xo.html
How's the 1 x 11 treating you? Still loving it? Any other challenges that popped up since last update?
How much was this build in total
1x11 conversion with crankset and pedals was $200 when I did it. Thanks
@@ForceBuilt thanks a bunch
I made mine a singlespeed
How do you like it?
@@ForceBuilt I really like it although finding a good chain tensioner is difficult. I now have another singlespeed bike. they're so fun to ride because you don't ever worry about changing your gears
How much weight did u loss?
With all my mods, I am under 30lbs. I was over 30 before. Not real sure.
I have an old f400 Cannondale its a 26 and I added new shocks. its a 3 x 9. Do you think itll work?
I really don't know. Sorry
What size cassette did you use?
I used a 48T Cassette. Thanks for watching. Links are in the description!
