I just bought a Triumph four post lift and installed it two days ago. So far I love it, so it was nice to see someone who' has had theirs for a year and still likes it. You gave me some great ideas, I especially loved how you ran the electrical wiring down through the hydraulic line with loom! Good thinking! Glad to see you still like it, I can see I'll be using mine a lot as well 🙂 I also like to idea about using the LED strip lights, I had thought about putting in some of the LED lights as well, but I was going to put them under the runners so I would at least have light down there, but your idea was pretty good!
I just ordered this lift after doing some serious research on lots of four post lifts. I chose this lift in particular because of how low the location of the pump controls are. I'm in a wheelchair and most lift's controls are pretty high compared to this lift. I also like how the lift looks compared to other black colored lifts that just look bland. I'm hoping I get several years of trouble-free usage from this lift.

I tried to justify the extra cost by going with a Bendpaq but in the end I decided it wasn't worth the extra cost. I installed my 4 post lift this week. Waiting on an Amazon order for my 4 inch concrete anchor bolts today. I hate anything that wobbles so this lift will be anchored solid.
The rolling Jack with the wheels instead of the sliders wouldn’t work safely on this model. The wheels require an upward lip or trough to roll in. This model just has the flat tray for the drip pans. And the moving start off point when you showed us the force needed to get it going looks pretty par for the course. Obviously I don’t know how strong you are lol, but looked pretty standard. The nylon sliders sit still for an extended length of time and settle into the diamond plate and so that first push is a mother.
It's probably an SJ-35. The SJ stands for Sliding Jack, where the RJ stands for Rolling Jack. I too would be interested in finding out if these can be converted to rolling jacks, as my local supplier is out of stock on the RJs but has plenty of SJs. Freight is like $150 per jack so I'd rather buy them locally.
Like yours at home..my home lift is a old school inground Rotary 1960s single post ..got for Free...I dug down 9 ft. Piped it to my air compressor....my wife didn't want aboveground..lift..in our garage. She said it made her nervous parking her car in the garage so I went old school ..with my old school hot rod ..took a long weekend to install mine ..my brother has the same one u have. I belive
Can someone help me please? 1) Can you suggest any proven methods of installing such a lift in a garage that has a slope of at least 4-5 inches? 2) Also, would the lift shift if I don’t bolt it to the ground? (I would rather not anchor it as my concrete slab is only 4 inches thick.)
I recently installed my lift. I would approach the “slope” concerning by asking you is that change in level so to speak, parallel or perpendicular to the placement of the lift? As I “just think” about it, in my own head, if parallel, you rally should have an issue cause you’ve got gravity keeping everything exactly where it is. If it’s perpendicular, while at an angle, say from left to right as you’re behind, there should be a reason to think it would fall over, again because of weight, just not level from side to side. Both workable and i believe you’d be OK without bolting it down. Might give you more of a challenge to move it on it’s wheels, once again due to gravity, but doable. Just my thought. Good luck on your decision.
Was wondering about the led lighting placed along your ramps. Do your drip trays just lay on top of the ribbon of lights? Will they ”slide” or are you having to lift to move the trays. Irregardless, great video and appreciate your take on lift ownership so far wit a year behind. Stay a Car Guy!
The drip trays sit on top of the lights but they’re not heavy and can slide right along them. The jack and jack tray sit up higher on the ramps and doesn’t ride on the lights. And thanks!
No professional will choose a 4 post over a 2 post for working on vehicles. Reason being they know better. A 4 post has it's place like what your doing stacking cars and doing alignments. They just simply take up a lot of room that's why you'll see one drive on in a shop.
i have the peak 408-p. looks identical to this. Do you ever notice that the insteuctions say that the posts should be X distance apart but when you assemble it al measurements are off by 1/4” or 5/16” ? Can I ask what your manual says? Mine says outer edge of the base plate to outer edge of baseplate 173.25” length, 109” and 5/8” wide and diagonal 205”
I can tell you I am STRUGGLING with mine. Won’t go down to load level :(((( also looks like your lift is not bolted down. You could just jack out a bit of the garage floor to let the ramps go down.
Did you consider a 2 post lift? If so, what made you go with the 4 post? Trying to decide which way to go. Will mainly be used for oil changes, tire rotations, and minor mods.
I did, but I would’ve had to reinforce the concrete in my garage to get one. I also mainly use the lift for storage and a 4 post is a lot easier to drive on and off of
@@512TXSDIY I had them deliver it to my local warehouse . I rented a 20 foot uhaul . The warehouse loaded it into my uhaul at no cost . It was straight forward unloading it from the uhaul . All the parts were light except the one ramp with the cylinder in it . So we hand unloaded the lift and used moving dollies for the ramps .
Yeah, about 20x20 but it’s a little taller than a standard garage at 10’4”. With the corvette up top you can easily fit any sedan or coupe under there. Maybe a small crossover if you’re lucky. I still can’t go all the way up even with the corvette on top though.
Why not go with 2 X 12 that is 8 feet long. Cut it in half or even 2 - 3 feet long. Lay it long ways (like the ramps) instead of sideways like in your video. This should take care of the problem and look better being one piece instead of couple pieces cobbled together.

@@ZeroToAwesome yeah...I have a big Dodge Dually W350 w/Cummings Turbo diesel - the engine weighs over 1,100 lbs... so a lot of weight on the front end compared to the rear. I think it best in my case to be safe and anchor the lift. THANKS
I was shopping for a lift and found the aplus lifts. They apparently have a warehouse in "Dallas". The lift also looks oddly similar to the Atlas you have. Did you run across them in your own search for your lift?
I didn’t run across them, but rumor has it many lifts are made by the same manufacturer and then different labels are just slapped on them. Aplus looks a little different from atlas though. The locks the lift rests on are in the posts on mine. The locks on the aplus appear to be built into the side of the posts

If you have decent instructions from the manufacturer it isn’t hard at all, especially for a four post rather than a two post. Things are heavy though, a couple strong friends or a friend and a forklift is definitely required.
I have a 53 BelAir and am thinking about putting a lift just not sure how much room I would have under it. How much room do you have for a vehicle under the lift when the belair is on top?
It’ll depend on your ceiling height. Mine is 10’ 4” so I can’t go all the way up, but I have 57” of clearance for another car with the bel air on the lift

I really wanted the 408SL for the very reasons you explained in your video. Two questions: 1)Did you get the 110v motor or 220V? 2)I see your lift sits unbolted on the floor and wondered what the slope is in inches from the front posts to the rear posts since garages typically have sloped floors? Or how level is the lift since clearly don't have any problems operating it? Finally, a suggestion for your Vette: I purchased a set of Race Ramps for the garage in my winter home in Naples to change the oil, etc. in my Mustang GT and old Tbird. They are great. I plan to buy a second set to use in place of the steel ramps that are supplied with the lift. They only weigh about ten pounds and are well worth the investment.
Dang that’s a long wait! I have the 110 and it’s about an inch slope in total. One of the installation steps is to level the lift deck by adjusting some cables so whatever you’re lifting stays level. I wound up making some 6’ aluminum ramps to get the vette on there but thanks for the tip!

But you could have bolted board length wise to the under side or ramp to extend out into the driveway to get longer run which would probably gave you the clearance needed.....oh my unprofessional opinion of course
My roof height in my garage is 10' 5" or 126.5" Car "A" (The one I plan to Store up top) is 53" / Car "B" is 54" which equals 107" / I just want to make sure this is going to work for me before I shell out the cash. How much additional height is required? 126.5"- 107" = 19.5" I would say I'm fine but?? Is there a formula that Atlas provides? Thanks in advance.
I don’t think there’s a formula but I think you’re good. The runways are 4” thick and then you probably need another 3” of travel to get the lift on/off the locks for storage. Seems like you still have plenty of clearance even with that

It’d be close. Measure the height of each and then add about 10 inches. The runways add 4” of height and then you need another 6” or so to engage and disengage the locks
I’m going to go with “kinda.” Looks like your riviera is about the same width as my Tahoe was. It technically fit but the tires hung off the edge. I’d measure it for you but it’s disassembled right now
What is the width of your garage? I am putting in a lift but am concerned about the width left over to park a car beside it, looks like you don’t have much width in the bay beside the lift?
Another year do you still like it? Looking for a lift currently and this one is on the list, though I have been leaning towards something that is ALI certified.
Yep, still working out well. Sometimes I think the lock release is a little silly and I should’ve gone with one with an air release, but I don’t operate the lift enough for it to really be an annoyance.

Solid idea. I thought I’d keep moving mine but it turned out that once I found a good spot it never moved again
We have a direct lift 4 post and use race ramps to load or unload our Boxster. Race ramps are very light and long.

On your safety catches not engaging or disengaging at the same time, you need to adjust the actuating rods till they do

you need to make a pad thats leve with no shrink grout. can stand 8000 psi so it will hold the car weight. give it a google

Is your lift bolted? My brothers is not and he has the one with caster wheels... Never had an issue though.

I read somewhere that you can have them delivered to a freight terminal and then pay for a forklift service. It’s extra $ though

Nope. If it stayed in one spot I’d bolt it down but I move it around from time to time depending on what car I’m working on

Drive wheels are already on the runways by the time the front wheels get to the ramps when you back in though. Not true the other way around

wondering - is it safe to use the lift w/o anchoring the posts into the concrete...looks like you just have them free standing with no anchors?
Debatable. It hasn’t given me any issues yet though

At the lowest lock setting, or first notch when lifting, What is the height from floor to top deck where wheels set, with locks engaged?
It’ll vary cause you can adjust the locks about 2” or so, but mine’s at 22.5”

No but the 45 should fit. The only difference as far as I can tell is casters v slides

I plan to buy a second set to use in place of the steel ramps that are supplied with the lift. They only weigh about ten pounds and are well worth the investment.
Dang that’s a long wait! I have the 110 and it’s about an inch slope in total. One of the installation steps is to level the lift deck by adjusting some cables so whatever you’re lifting stays level. I wound up making some 6’ aluminum ramps to get the vette on there but thanks for the tip!

Hi I like how you have your lift, and I have one in my home garage and needed a way to guide my on the tracks of the lift. Where did you get the safety mirror that you have on your lift and how did you mount it to the lift?
Found it somewhere on Amazon. It’s screwed into the wall though, not the lift

True, but I don’t think you could make the lip that attaches the ramps to the lift out of wood since they’re so thin
But you could have bolted board length wise to the under side or ramp to extend out into the driveway to get longer run which would probably gave you the clearance needed.....oh my unprofessional opinion of course
What is your garage width wall to wall and depth?
My roof height in my garage is 10' 5" or 126.5" Car "A" (The one I plan to Store up top) is 53" / Car "B" is 54" which equals 107" / I just want to make sure this is going to work for me before I shell out the cash. How much additional height is required? 126.5"- 107" = 19.5" I would say I'm fine but?? Is there a formula that Atlas provides? Thanks in advance.
I don’t think there’s a formula but I think you’re good. The runways are 4” thick and then you probably need another 3” of travel to get the lift on/off the locks for storage. Seems like you still have plenty of clearance even with that

If u cant let it up enough to get up under it standing up straight than it's useless I wouldn't have my lift if I didnt have a 12 foot ceiling

It’d be close. Measure the height of each and then add about 10 inches. The runways add 4” of height and then you need another 6” or so to engage and disengage the locks

I have a 72 buick riviera and the width is 79.2 inch will the car fit on the lift. What is the size from edge to edge?
I’m going to go with “kinda.” Looks like your riviera is about the same width as my Tahoe was. It technically fit but the tires hung off the edge. I’d measure it for you but it’s disassembled right now
Why doesn't the corvette go on the lift?
Until right after this video I couldn’t get it up there. I wound up making some 6’ aluminum ramps and now it sees the top bunk more often

16’ wide. The Raptor fits but it’s tight. Not something I’d want to do every day

Yep, still working out well. Sometimes I think the lock release is a little silly and I should’ve gone with one with an air release, but I don’t operate the lift enough for it to really be an annoyance.
