      If you've yet to purchase one, give it some time if budget is an issue. Prices will drop or you'll be able to find one in your local classifieds for cheap. At least at the moment, Chromebooks don't have a high resale value (even if they provide a tremendous amount of value). It's one of the nicest looking convertibles for sure. I had it for a while and can confirm what Robby mentioned about the look (particularly the thin bezels) inspiring users to be more productive. There's some magic in the screen as well when at full brightness; text appears nearly as sharp as on a retina display (and that includes light-colored text on dark backgrounds). I wish you the best of luck with getting your hands on one!

      I love my HP x360. i3 - 8GB Ram. Got it for 450.00 at Best Buy when it was on sale. Beautiful white cover and slate blue everything else. Nice color combination. Works flawlessly. I am using this in replacement of my still working fine-Pixel 2-2015 chromebook. But I love the Pixel also, so I do bring it out on the weekends. I know, I'm strange. :) But the Hp is very nice and well worth the 450.00.

      @@CoCMember I hear ya. Don't feel too guilty about it though. I am on my 6th Chromebook. Two I gave to my stepmother, one only a few months old and a new one for my father. I still have an Acer 720 (11.6 inch - i3 - 4GB Ram) which will be obsolete after this June. I am planning on giving it to a library board member, before June, who expressed an interest in a Chromebook, so she can see how one works. In retrospect, anyway. I love my new HP, especially at the sale price. I compared the HP and the Pixelbook at Best Buy, side by side, and felt the HP was the better choice for the money being spent. I haven't regretted it, especially the larger screen. Although, I am typing this on the Pixel 2-2015 machine. It has some hardware issues but rebooting clears them up, but still ...

      Renaat I purchased the HP chromebook 14 x360 about 3 weeks ago and can’t stay off of it. It’s just perfect and the best. You can get it at Best Buy for $499. I’m very very very picky & iffy when it comes to devices. I researched, looked at reviews and TH-cam videos for about a month before purchasing and I’m very happy with my purchase. It’s portable, slim, sleek, light and beautiful. Runs fast and is vibrant. The only thing I hate is I can’t find a hard shell case for it because I think it’s so new. It’s white and I don’t want it to get dirty.

      I haven't bought either of these devices but if you're looking for one for portability I'd go with the ASUS. The thin bezels and no cooling fan make it muck smaller and lighter than the HP. If you need more processing power, an 8th gen i5 and i7 version will be released soon with 8-16 gb of RAM, but it will be pretty steep ($750-900?). The cool thing: the 8th gen i models will be faster than the Pixelbook, which has a 7th gen. The m3 is fine for most people, though. One more thing: The HP has a plastic bottom, and the ASUS is all aluminum. If I were you, I'd get the ASUS.

    There are a few use cases for the tablet mode held in portrait, specifically some form-based webpages. The most recent one I noticed was making call for a political campaign. The tall vertical displayed the voter info completely, and the tablet mode was better than using a laptop mouse.

    Good upload, thanks for the snek peak.
    The bottom line for me is that now that I have a windows machine, my Chromebook needs to be a lightweight device, and the hp x360, as amazing as it is, comes in a bit too heavy.

      If you've yet to upgrade your tech, and you like Chromebooks (particularly Chrome OS) in general, this is an awesome option. It's light, portable, and obviously looks great (not to mention it's built as such, having an all-metal, durable chassis). The screen gets pretty bright, and at its brightest setting, it almost appears to be a retina display (with no discernable pixels at normal viewing distance); oddly enough, text looks sharper on it than the 13.3-inch Full HD IPS screens commonly found on other Chromebooks. It breezes through typical productivity apps (this is including the 4 GB of RAM model), and you'd be able to do image editing as well as very light video editing at up to 1080p (contrary to what most reviewers have said [likely without having ever tried it on a Chromebook]). The 14-inch screen is plenty big for getting work done (without eye strain) for multiple hours of use per day (allowing you to sidestep hooking it up to an external monitor, unless absolutely necessary for your studies [eg: advanced programming, etc]).

Almost everything you discuss, you make so compelling that my wallet has a mild stroke. It's ok though, keep them coming. I did have one question, can Chrome OS support duel screen monitors? I own the C302, it's older sibling. The screen does have a bit of wobble to it, as this appears to as well, but in practice, it isn't disturbing or worse than most other laptops. The m3 in this money benches out similarly to 5th gen Core i5; even the older m3 in mine performs (with ChromeOS) like an i5 does in a Windows laptop. If this is as good as the c302 is, I'd spend $500 on it (when it goes on sale) in a heartbeat.

      @@sqsp oh wow. Thanks for the interest. it's hard to describe. I'd like a laptop to look and feel like something that would fit well inside your home. I'd like it to not look like a tool and more like an extension of furniture. That's what makes the pixel book go so nice. It's soft to the touch, it has rounded corners, and the not pink color option goes well with a lot of home colors. It looks like it belongs in your home and not in some 1980s sifi movie.

    • @sqsp
      @sqsp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zackarystewart9214 The Pixelbook Go is a lot nicer-looking than people give it credit for. The tech world is obsessed with thin bezels at the moment, but Google devices tend to be thoughtfully designed as well as functional. I'm not partial to either since they are such different devices, so features would make the difference in my purchasing decision. That said, I do understand your perspective; the Pixelbook Go's branding is less pronounced (on the outer shell, that is), it offers more subtle tones, it's thinner/lighter, and usability is likely superior to the C434 with its one-finger lift, better keyboard/trackpad (not to mention speakers/webcam as well as the display on the 4K model), etc.

      I agree. I still struggle to see what the benefit would be to buy a Chromebook above $500 instead of a Windows 10 laptop. Maybe when Windows 10 is able to be dual booted on Chromebooks soon it'll be worth.

    • @TomUK7
      @TomUK7 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BLNKT. From my extensive research the new breed of midrange Chromebooks have better build quality, screens and keyboards than their similarly priced windows counterparts. For instance I have been looking at the Acer Swift 3 Vs Dell Chromebook Inspiron 14. The Dells screen is brighter 320nits Vs 220(or thereabouts) on Acer. Colour accuracy is also much superior on the Chromebook which is important for my work. Overall build quality will be more premium on Dell too.bI don't need to run any specialised specific software and don't game. I don't need the complexity that Windows offers. Also, the Chrome browser will be much quicker on a Chromebook with say an i3 processor. Why should I buy an inferior Windows laptop? And if someone wants a Chromebook because they like the simplicity, then why shouldnt they have the choice to pay more for a better screen and build quality?

    • @BLNKT.
      @BLNKT. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TomUK7 That makes sense. I do love the build quality and size (or lack of size) that some of these higher priced Chromebooks seem to have. I've been watching a lot of reviews for them to see if I could make them work for my needs.
      I just want a fairly priced well built laptop with a decent processor and no excess things like an expensive graphics card so Chromebooks fell into my radar. But I just can't justify spending it myself since I do require specific software that Chromebooks won't be able to run.
      If they ever do decide to get windows 10 working on these I will snatch one up in a hurry.
