  • Nervous about taking the MSF Learn to Ride motorcycle course? This video has 5 things I learned to help you know what to expect in the MSF course.
I'm a new motorcycle rider and I recently took the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) Learn to Ride course. I had done a lot of research on what I would need to do for the test, but there were a lot of things I didn't know about what the experience of taking the MSF class would be like.
This video covers what I learned taking the Learn to Ride Course, so if you are taking the MSF class you will have a better idea what to expect.
I went into the class with very limited experience. I bought a bike a month before the class, having never ridden a motorcycle before. As an older woman - over 50 years old - I wasn't sure I would be able to figure it out, but I bought the bike, learned to ride it, and then took the MSF class. It was intimidating to go in with such limited experience, but the class was great. I hope this video helps you go into it knowing better what to expect from the MSF Course as you learn to ride a motorcycle.

Thanks for the video! I'm taking my MSF course in two weeks and I've been a little nervous so this helps calm me down a bit.

This is great info. I took the class on June 11th and 12th and passed, had a great time. It absolutely POURED rain on us on Sunday, so we got some rain practice too lmao.

Wow - I can't imagine having to do that in the rain - I still haven't ridden in rain. Glad you had such a great experience!

I took the class years ago and was the only one to have never ridden a motorcycle ,whenever we would line up for the next portion, one guy would intentionally run into the rider that was in front of him,the instructors would just shake their heads and continue, bad experience all around

Ugh, that's terrible! I definitely think that instructors can make a break a class - I was lucky to get good ones.

I took mine (not through Harley) and was at the top of my class and FAILED 😂... I had been riding for 3 months... I went the next morning and got my permit from our local DMV... Sounds like your class was pretty much the same ... I am fortunate to have my husband and son that have been riding to teach me... I feel like the course does teach but I feel like they teach you to pass a test ... I am a bad tester, so I completely take responsibility for my results.. I put my foot down (5 pts.) coming out of my figure 8 and touched the line (5 pts) then I didn't stop as quickly as I should have for one pt.. 🤦🏻‍♀️.. All of that on a little Honda rebel... Passed at the DMV on my vstar 650 😂 in the same small you turn box.. Hate test or being watched.. To sum it up, I feel like MSF testing pts is off... Some of the ones that passed and now have a permit, SCARED ME, I wouldn't be in front of them during class 🤷🏻‍♀️..

The test anxiety is real! I didn't expect it to bother me so much, but it definitely did. Glad it went better at the DMV!

What camera(s) are you using? Your sound quality is great

The camera is a GoPro Hero 10 with the Media Mod (amzn.to/493a2rx) on it so I can plug in an external microphone. I'm using this $25 microphone inside my helmet: amzn.to/3Uxtf01
I really like this one because it has a bendable stem so it's easy to adjust inside the helmet.
