    Guys, I passed the MSF course in CT last weekend. I had ZERO experience riding on a motorcycle and I was able to do it. Don’t overthink the entire course, don’t stress yourself, you will be taught every skill necessary and you do it so many times that it is very difficult to fail. Here’s what I’d suggest:
    1) have fun
    2) listen to instructions
    3) clutch control (being in the friction zone is an important skill you need to grasp to pass) - you practice this over and over.
    4) don’t get discouraged if you are not getting it right away. You will start getting it with plenty of time before the skills test.
    Enjoy!

    Good and helpful video. Just a clarification: Counter-weighting is for slow speed maneuvering. Counter-steering is for normal road or highway speeds.

      Yeah it’s crazy to understand until you get the actual feeling of doing it. I just started understanding why I was turning wide and now I get it. I was trying to use my body weight instead of counter steering

    What I wanna know is what gears are you using the whole time . Like what gear to use when you do turns or stops or anything really would help me out .

    • @TheJourneyYoutube
      @TheJourneyYoutube  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Almost everything in the video should be in first gear with the exception of things like the quick turn etc. Which I just had in second. I wouldn't be too hung up on gear selection since you'll get a feel for when you need to go faster and the bike will be revving too high. Then you just grab the next gear. Good luck.

    • @weatherwatchTX
      @weatherwatchTX 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      During one of our drills, we had to go into 2nd gear for a certain portion of it. Our instructors were very clear about when we should be in second and for how much of that drill. Otherwise everything else was all pretty much just putting around in 1st gear. If you haven't taken the course yet, don't stress at all. We had 3 our of 8 people in our class that had never been on a bike before. They all passed.

    Oregon State has the hardest test I have ever seen~! On the cone swerve the cones are 15 ft apart but every other cone is off set by 3ft from the center line. NOT easy that way. Secondly on the quick corner left or right if you don't turn your head in the direction of the turn like about 20 feet before you get to the L--turn you flunk the turn.... Again not easy to see were the box turn is when they won't let you look at it before you make you turn..... Also on the quick stop you much shift from second to first before you make your quick stop or you flunk that too. 50 years riding and licsenses in two other states but Oregon will try to fail you ~! They make you take the test with a for profit company "Team Oregon" that has a 200 dollar vested interest in makiing you paying for the class twice too !

      I'm from Spain and, just out of curiosity (and frustration) I thought, hey I'm going to check if the test are easy or difficult in the US. So, seems that every state is different, right? At least the example of the the video looks very easy. I've checked the test circuits in Germany, UK,... and the example with the swerve you put of Oregon State is maybe the most similar one I have found to the one we to here in Spain. If you're curious, look for "examen circuito A2". Damn it's a mean test! Here they are even a bit more separated to the sides from the center line, and the distance is even narrower (a bit less than 13 ft). The whole test consists of two parts and can be done in a minute, but it is almost the whole time a lots of obstacles, non stop, and a slight mistake you're out. The normal ratio of approval per test here is 20-30%, and most people pass the circuit test in their 3-5th time (me 3rd, a few days ago). Bureaucracy and waiting times is what's killing me right now. By far it's not the most expensive licence of Europe, but frustrating enough that you might have to repeat it over and over and end up eventually paying a lot.

    • @TheJourneyYoutube
      @TheJourneyYoutube  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Our instructor allowed questions, even during the test and I think everyone passed in my class. Hopefully yours would do the same. Basically, they explained that the class was designed to teach people how to be safe, not to sort out those who can pass a test. So, you had to pass but they did everything to help you pass. It could be the help that saves your life instead of getting a question wrong and never knowing the right answer! Good luck.
