So glad we’re getting more JRPGs on Xbox. This is a day one purchase for me. I’ve never played Suikoden ever but I love turn based RPGs. This looks refreshing.
While Eiyuden Chronicle started off slow, it got very good about halfway through and the magic of the Suikoden formula became apparent in that last half. It actually reminds me a ton of Suikoden 1. These are exciting times where we are getting Eiyuden 2 for them to build up on the foundation they laid AND we could be getting Suikoden 6! What a time to be a fan!
If sales are good enough, I can see them remastering 3, 4 and 5 at least. A Suikoden 6 or even a remaster of the spin offs? I doubt it. So far I think Konami is just focusing in "milking" what it already had. Remakes and remasters of their already existing games (also, it's important to note that unlike Silent Hill and Metal Gear that got Remakes, Suikoden only got a remaster).
Luca can mess around as he pleases but poor Dandy Richmond isn't allowed to smoke anymore lol The things inside the "Gallery" option aren't new I think as the HD remasters are based on the Japanese-only PSP port from 2006, which already included things like movie or music player, or art gallery. Still, it's nice to have these finally localized. So I wouldn't give Konami credit that they did this specifically for this HD remaster. Man, I'm so glad this series is revived after all these years, and I truly hope that Konami will continue with this. There doesn't exist ports for the other Suikoden games, so I'm curious how they will handle the future of the series. Maybe a Suikoden III HD Remaster? Maybe they'll localize Suikogaiden? Or maybe even a brandnew Suikoden entry? Who knows, what Konami is cooking. But I'm ready to take it. Take my money, you bastards lol

Been seeing some talk about the speed of the spells, but I guess it kinda makes sense now since they've stated they based it on the PSP version, and the PSX versions had heavy slowdown during spell sequences. There's also no direct character balance changes, but they did say they've strengthened unite attacks. So I hope they'll be worth using more often over spamming rune spells or double-beat.
Hopefully, after the successful launch in Suikoden I & II HD Remaster comes out. Konami will make a go signal decision on remastering the remaining Suikoden games into 1 bundle [like: Suikoden 3,4,5, Tactics, The Woven Web of A Century, Tierkreis, & Gensou Suiko Gaiden Vol. 1 & 2]. But I know that's a little too much to ask but hey nothings wrong to keep on dreaming, right? Anyhow enough of me rumbling I also too already preorder the Suikoden I & II HD Remaster on my PS5....if i am very satisfied i'll also get the Steam version later on that. Because I got a feeling Konami is surely coming back in the golden days of 90's and early 2000's.
I wouldn't hold my breath. We are talking with Konami, the same company that would rather sit on their haul of important IPs and turn them into pachinko machine. By saying that, i just hope that the devs just flesh out the lore around the true runes and Pesmerga / Yuber.
I can easily see them doing two more Suikoden bundles. One with Suikoden IV and Tactics since the two are literally interconnected. One with III and V as well. I have I & II pre-ordered for all the systems at my local GameStop so I'm ready for this. I'm also beyond stoked that these games are multi-platform now as well, they were tethered to Playstation only for way too long.

As much as I would love to see a Suikoden 6, in my humble opinion, I would love a remake of Suikoden 3 to 5 since those games could really use an upgrade not just graphics but also fine tuning some stories, etc.
I'd buy it just for the first game, since theyre gonna overdo the graphics on that one. I always wanted to see Suikoden 1 with better graphics as the original ones were kinda crude. Now it's gonna look like Suikoden 2.
Well, as long as Konami has been cooking up something good with these remasters for as long as we think, it'll be worth it. Especially, with all the features you just mentioned. I don't expect gangbusters but I do expect this collection to sell pretty well.
I'm hoping for this release to do well and would look forward to a potential future for the series. But this is a remaster of a beloved, but ultimately niche game from 25+ years ago. As long as the expectations aren't set too high and this can see the same level of success as Star Ocean 2 remaster, then I think there's a chance.
The future of the franchise will depend on the success of the remaster. If it fails, we will see more spinoffs like Tierkries or the PSP one at very best. If it succeed, we may finally see Suikoden VI

If they want the Suikoden games to live up in today's games industry, they need to up their games in terms of gameplay content. The Suikoden series is known to be very good about terms but it is lacking on the gameplay side. We live in a game industry where we are filled with JRPGs with difficulty options and post game content to dive yourself into the game and the world, where areas Suikoden lack a lot. If they go for future Suikoden games they need to add post game stuff to play! I hope these remaster will at least feature Difficulty Options so they can give a reason to more experience players to play other than nostalgia feeling.
I genuinely think it will. It's just that I'm pessimistic Konami can deliver a good sequel. Who knows? I'll be one of the happiest fans to be proven wrong. The other question is which title Konami will remaster next, I'm guessing 3 but I think 5 is more approachable.
Eiyuden has potential. It needs a rebalanced rune system and better antagonist to thrive. Not enough memorable evil acts from Dux that burns a hole in players retinas that he is the big bad. Need to have him cutting up failed rune Guinea pigs and feeding them to Dracare for starters. His pet dragon needs milk
It's a good sigh of relief leaving Luca's dialogue UNTOUCHED. They should know better that Luca's overall persona is among the reason why this classic is so popular. As for the next suikoden, don't fall like other games that TRANSLATION is vandalized. And please Suikoden series tend to be serious and not to be like goody goody disney narrative.
I disagree the company should look to do things on their own without investors, that will better motivate them to polish harder and take more creative risk, if anything having Investors makes me more worried
Play Eiyuden. It’s better than people say it is. Without the nostalgia tainted glasses it’s a solid 7/10 game with far better balanced characters than Suikoden in general. No sidemen in the cast posing as stars of destiny. No worthless squirrels that do f all.
No, No.. watch it twice. They recreate Citys like Lenakamp or the Dwarfen City totaly new. New Soundeffects, Magic Effects better Translation, brandnew Map Design. Its a Remaster, not a Remake. And for a Remaster, i'm perfectly fine with it.
@Tirigon I want to start with your right: it is a remaster, not a remake, but I feel like they could have done the character sprites, kept the mini-games from the Sega Saturn, fixed the Clive timer, maybe done some rebalancing of the characters, and if that's too much for a remaster, then at least do the character sprites.
Remade all background, Re-did all menus... Let Tir run, and have a run animation. It did touch up sprites to be crisper but kept the original look cause it Suikoden. Speed up battles w/o speeding up game time. updates to and touch up to the very few CGI scenes. Updated the OST. updated portraits. Updated translations to be more accurate and closer to the JP meaning in the story. I would rather have this than a remake, at that point I feel they would be stepping on Yoshitaka Murayama's work. The only way I would have ever accepted a Remake is if he was involved 100%

We might see a remaster of the PS2 games. That's a long shot. The way Konami is now, I don't think we'll be getting a new Suikoden title.
Even if the living members of the original team came back I'd HIGHLY doubt they could even hit par with bottom tier suikoden.
Would be cool if Suikoden got a FF Remake treatment. Just imagine 108 characters in 3D in action based combat. Sounds too insane to pull off.
