MAN YOU ARE A BRILLIANT BUILDER AND ARTIST!... THANKS FOR YOUR MASSIVE INPUT! \m/
Thanks for watching.
This GS journey has been amazing, my favorite episodes are the early stages of the project in the garden, has been such an inspiration for myself, great work well done.
Thanks, yeah those days were challenging.
Brings back memories. Very well done man. Awesome job!
Yeah its been a while in the making. Back then I had no idea how or what would happen with the channel. Or even had any ambition behind. Just building a bike.
When I started building a cafe bike besides the vision I had for my bike I came across a lot of practical problems. Having finished my bike I'd say two things helped me the most. Full Service manual and wiring diagram. Thank you for showing the build in this beautiful timelapse video!
Very true
What an awesome and truly educational build! I started following this build about a month ago only watching the GS videos from part1 to the time lapse and it really had it all - from the aesthetics to really technical mechanics such as replacing valve shims, colour tuning and don't forget the carbs! You're really building my confidence to start my own build in that no matter what crazy stuff happens... there will be a way to figure it out... From South Africa: "Moerse dankie" (a massive thank you)
Thanks for watching. It was a long journey for sure. Hope your build is going well.
Love this bike. This was the bike that got me interested in your videos and also cafe racers. Good job mate. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks Sean. Got there in the end.
Thanks for sharing this amazing journey, recon we all learnt something over the years
Absolutely, thanks for watching.
This Work is not forgotten so quickly, nice Bike!! 👍best regards from Germany.
Thank you.
Just got a GS550 bone stock standard... this is very inspirational man.
Thanks :)
I had the 650 in 1982 best bike I ever had!!! Well done that man!!
Thank you
This bike looks WONDERFUL. If one day i ever make a caffee racer from my classic 350 i would love to have such a paint on my bike.
Do it. It’s very satisfying.
Ficou show de muito bom gosto, parabéns
We need more builders like you. Great work man.
Thanks for watching.
Amazing content! You make it look so simple. I've bought one a few weeks ago, and I'm already having hard time with the wiring 😄
Buy a motogadget blue unit. Trust me, it will simplify everything and bring you to the 21st century with wireless start
I just bought a 1979 suzuki gs1000l yesterday for a great deal. Been sitting for several years but only has 17k miles. Its all there and not in bad shape at all. On the fence about doing some type of cafe build but this video gives me more motivation to do so.
Best of luck with your build
Very cool. Same colour as my current yamaha-in-progress. Baby blue and white is so underrated.
Thanks, I'm glad I went with that colour in the end rather than the orange and grey. And absolutely, blue and white is often overlooked but looks very classic
Nice work!!! I love light blue and white like my flag. Congratulations from Argentina!!!
Thanks, Hi Argentina
He probably wrote all the music as well! YOUR A GENIUS
Ha, not yet
Great job! Well done mate!!!!
I enjoy watching your builds, you have mad skills. Good work!
Thank you
Epic video! If only all projects could be achieved that quickly!
Ha. Yeah especially this one.
I really enjoyed this video! Fantastic work my friend!
Amazing, glad you did
i love your builds man!keep em coming
Thanks, 2 or 3 episodes a week now.
I love it this is my dream bike one day ill built my own with your tips video, thank you..
Thanks, one day you will.
Congrats on such a cool build, well done!
Thanks. Turned out ok.
Absolutely stunning bike mate.......pipe wrap seems to divide opinions but it’s perfect on this bike. Amazing
Yeah it does divide. In this case it was to hide all the sins of the old pipe.
GS550L Was my first real bike. Awesome bike... had a 4 into 1 header. It had a 6 speed and it was like having a passing gear on the freeway. It would peg the 85 mph speedometer.... no idea how fast... but less than a half hour from Portland Oregon to Salem, Oregon. I was young. One of the most balanced bikes ever (82) far more comfortable than the GS650E with its 5 speed.
Great build! Amazing job.
Thanks
Thanks for creating such amazing content, you are one of the people that inspired me to create my own! Please keep making such content!
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it
Your video looks good aswell, you should upload more like for the bold haha
Absolutely beautiful man! Great fricken work!
Thank you 👍🏻
Sick build! In love!
Thank you
Looks very good mind you I did like the original colour you painted it .
Well done
Thanks, I did like it but I have to admit I also like the new colours.
Очень здорово получилось! Молодец!
Back in the 80s I put a GS750 engine with GS850 barrels and pistons in a GS550 frame. It was a bit of a squeeze but the result was well worth the effort. It would be an interesting project with modern suspension and brakes.
Nice work
Totally forgot you were out in the garden at the start. I'd say your delighted with yourself man, if not you should be. She turned out wicked fair play to ya!
Yeah I'm seriously pleased. The yellow headlight was my turning point to loving this build again, and yeah it's been a long journey from the days in the garden at the old house.
INCROYABLE
Thanks.
I just love your videos. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
She looks awesome 👍 such a classic look😊
Thanks Carlton, the colours have strangely made it look more classic.

Hey for the bold. You are doing such a great work. Very inspiring! Right now I’m starting a Suzuki gn 400. I hope my result will be as beautiful as your gs550 and I hope I don’t quite or run out of money, or both😁. Keep on !
Thanks for watching.
COT DAM that is bike is beautiful! One helluva good job man! That exhaust sounds sexy as hell

Thanks you. Hopefully you like the other builds on the channel too
I noticed those white diese shoes u had on. Those are some of my faves, wish i wouldve kept mine from when i was in college...awesome bike
That's going back a few years, back in 2015 these trainers must have been my old work ones by then, must have been at least 10 years old then, since gone to the bin
I think the carbs would drive me nuts. Lol. Super cool build. Totally love it.
They sure did to me, but figured the cheap pods didn't help
The face he made when it started .... speechless dude.....it's so satisfying..keep it u dude
Very satisfying to hear a bike start in 15 years or more. Might sound like complete poop, but it's a starting point to start tuning it.

When I was a kid (18yrs old) I crashed a 1983 Suzuki GS750E, for the time what a bike. I had a rear tire blow out at about 95MPH+ (yes, lucky to be alive). That bike to get running again was $150.00 bucks, new points cover/case cover and the handlebars and cluck lever, The fairings/cosmetics was about $1000.00..............OMG what a stupid kid I was , but what a great time that was. Great video love the look of your bike in my opinion. All the best.
Glad to see it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
@@forthebold
Me too my friend 😊
looks ace
Thank you 👍🏻
Wow!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks.
Did a good job with that tank
Thank you
Just a little side note you might want to put the Mercury sticks on those carburetors to make sure they're all synced right correctly😃👀👍😊
I wish I had mercury sticks but I would have to sell an organ to afford them. They have however been synchronised with standard vacuum gauges
very very nice!
Thanks.
Beautiful 👌
Thanks
Lovely sound😍😍 6:31
Sure is
nice bike!! from japan
Thank you.
Great color choice
Thanks
@@forthebold what's the official color?
It’s Fiat Volare blue
You are amazing 😍
i like the bike, a heads up from a pro use mortar DIY from a builder's merchants for a guide coat on you're primer apply with a sprung 2 soak the exhaust raps before fitting 3 go on eBay and get a nordic powder coating gun £99.00 and never ever use a rattle can, that is not not paint. the powder coating will not harm your domestic kitchen oven in the slightest, neither will it level any trace of smell. hope that helps for future projects, all the best willy
Thanks
how did you alter the handle bar stop so that the clip-ons do not hit the tank?
Very cool
Thank you
So good job, what ignition system is that?
Thanks for your answer
Thanks. It’s a Dynatek system.
Brother from across the big blue. Awesome job man, i seriously appreciate the time you took to educate. I watched from start to finish on this bike in a setting. I now much more knowledgeable thanks to you. As I started from only knowing how to change the clutch cable, I’m not sure how complimentary that is. However! I don’t think I could have learned what I have and will from you. Either way, I picked myself up an 1982 GS850 which prompted me to do my research and now after watching, I realize I’m not quite sure how to get the correct tools for cleaning the carb. Any hints on what you put together or use for yours?
Cheers
Thanks, - Carbs = ultrasonic cleaning for the inside is the very proper way to do, but depends on the state of the bike. If it's running with no issues you might be ok with just carb cleaning spray, but if they're clogged up they'll need tearing down.
I had a '79 GS 550E, back about 35 years ago. Motor literally blew into pieces at about 100 mph, no warning at all. From running great to puking oil and pieces of pistons and rods in the blink of an eye...Last Suzuki I ever owned.
This one definitely has had its problems.
@@forthebold She looks and sounds great now though.
I have just began to binge all of your videos and they are amazing!
I am rebuilding an '82 550LZ and was wondering what exhausts and air filters you used on this build? Did you have to change the jets as well or are they stock? Also, do you prefer kickstart, and where would you put a battery if you had one?
Sorry for all the questions but I haven't found a holy guide to bike mods quite yet.
Hey, glad you like them.
So: Air filters = I always go for K&N pods
Jets = Yeah you have to go bigger with pods
Kick start = prefer electric start, and yes this GS550 has a battery too, it's in the cowl.
I saw this video and for some reason my mouse just hovered over the subscribe button and subscribed
I love it when that happens to people’s mice accidental. Welcome.
im installing a motogadget m unit on my suzuki gz250, and i think the plan is to wire everything into a recess under the seat like ive seen you do. i was curious, what kind of sheet metal are you using? im looking at 20 gauge stainless right now
I use 1mm
Just brilliant! Btw where can I find the seat and the piece that goes with the seat? Thank you.
Try Dime City Cycles
Very nice build , just check front tire it seems to be mounted reverse .
It’s not. Directional arrow pointing in the right way.
Really interested in what exhaust slip on you went with I’m finishing up a 1983 650g build and want the right sound
It’s a shorty available from Dime City
So beautifull off regards
Thanks
