      A cut from Fear Inoculum was on a local station last summer, first I became aware of them. I'm hopelessly addicted now. The rhythms, the intensity, the sheer complexity is endlessly engaging.
      And lyrically, "Right In Two" can bring me to tears if I just immerse in it.

    Tool is an experience. especially with this song in particular, it drives you, makes you anxious, raises your stress, then releases that stress with the choruses, then lets you down slowly with the break, only to bring you back up, raising the stress, the emotion, with one final release, then cruelly, cuts you off before a third release of stress with the ending, leaving you seeking, wanting more. absolutely masterful playing with emotion in this song.

      I feel like Pneuma is pretty advanced to be a good introductory song. Most of Fear Inoculum has tracks where a lot is going on in a very deeply meticulous and drawn out fashion.
      Pneuma is a masterpiece, but there is so much to take in, and so many trademarks of the band musically that take even the most devoted Tool fan several listens to fully take in.
      Show her something like Aenema or Sober next. Baby steps.

    There has never been a band as deep as Tool. That's why their fan base is so loyal. All Tool fans listen to other music but it just doesn't compare. Once you know Tool, you know why.

      Rush, don’t be silly... pink floyd.. I’ve been listening to tool since I was 12 and I’m 37 now but I wouldn’t ever say what you just typed... tool is amazing and my favourite band but there’s many other amazing and deep discography

    • @davidbright9500
      @davidbright9500 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neither of those examples are even close. Maybe you arent sure what being deep means. They may have deep subject matter, but that's it. Tool has layers. The deeper you go the more you find. Pretty sure neither Rush or Pink Floyd could create a song as complex as Lateralus.

    • @OGT4204
      @OGT4204 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidbright9500 you’re an idiot if that’s what you think. Rush had multiple concept albums, deep as fuck lyrics, ohhh and one of Danny carreys idols.. get a clue that tool isn’t the only great progressive rock band in the world.

    • @davidbright9500
      @davidbright9500 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OGT4204 I'm more than capable of having a discussion without name calling. A concept album is only one layer. Many diff bands in many diff genres have done that. That is a certain level of complexity most bands never achieve I'll give you that, but still doesn't compare. You have your opinion I have mine. Go smoke a bowl and chill.

    Prog rock apparently means something completely today different from what it used to. When I hear the term, I think Genesis, Yes, King Cirmson, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Gentle Giant, Marillion...

    • @raz0rcarich99
      @raz0rcarich99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tool is heavily influenced by King Crimson. Danny Carrey wanted Ænema to sound like THRÄK.

    • @matthewv789
      @matthewv789 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raz0rcarich99 Yes, that influence at least is pretty apparent. Just when taking the totality of what today is typically labeled as prog rock, it's an entirely different genre with little in common musically or stylistically with what used to be considered prog rock. It mostly sounds like prog metal to me, in comparison.
