Sokka's weapon doesn't change shape. Being a water tribe warrior, he has several weapons, like a machete, a club (that knife looking thing with the blue ball at the end), his trusty boomerang and now a fancy new metorite sword.
It's cool how even though he can't bend, Sokka embodies the philosophies of the water tribes: He is fluid, flexible, and creative. Even though he's normally just comic relief, it's nice that the show (and group) acknowledges what he brings to the group. I like that this episode shows his growth too, where he was bossy and demanding respect in the beginning of the series, by this point he's been humbled and he honestly acknowledges his lack of worthiness to the master. Sokka from the beginning of the story would have demanded to be trained while this Sokka received training precisely because he's aware of his flaws and is open and receptive to learning how to overcome them. As goofy as he is, he legit is a competent leader and it comes from his adaptability. In other words.... "WATER TRIBE~!"
Definitely took longer than 2 days. At least a week. Each scene the sunlight and weather is slightly different. And no way iroh got that jacked in the "2 days" most people think is all this episode covered. Making a sword alone takes at least a few days to do it traditionally as was shown.
Aangs outfit was a jab to the owners of nickelodeon cuz they wanted the writers to give aangs a special outfit with weapons so they can sell toys of him to make money but the writters were like nah hes gonna stick with what he got lol
Soka didn't learn from zero, he basically iron out what he was already doing without technique. Its kinda like when a musicians picks up another instrument, he will learn quickly because he already knows the basic of music
The fun fact, the Aang in the armor gag was made because the show runners were getting pressured to have Aang start fighting in armor (or something like that) so there could be more toy sales. I love this answer of theirs!
19:06 i think he did go by lee at some point! wasn't it his cover name when him and iroh were traveling at the start of s2? i think iroh said he "goes by junior" to spite him for the name he picked (mushi) for iroh, but zuko at first said lee
I vaguely remember hearing something about that bit with Aang in armor actually being a reference to some other shows the creators of this one worked on (maybe at the same time)? Kinda hoped someone would comment about that here that knows more about it. 😅
I say this on every reaction I see. There was a reaction couple that made controversial statements about Sokka during this episode. The guy was trying to explain how Sokka felt and how many see his strengths more than his weaknesses. However the girl was adamant about saying how useless he is and denying that he was actually useful to the group. They turned off comments on every video of their reactions to the show. Like people were ready to burn them down
I always got the idea that Iroh had conceded that Zuko was lost to him. So, Iroh now has to act on his own. So, he starts training so he can escape to help restore balance on his own.
EDIT: SPOILER BELOW, nm it actually happens later, forgot 3:52 I could be wrong but I swear they also show her with the Badger Moles around when she is introduced, so your good lol
To be fair Sokka´s growth is not THAT crazy for someone that has been fighting woith weapons for a long time, even if not specifically with a sword its different from someone that has never fought or trained before

“Try Lee. There’s a million Lee’s” immediately cut to 50 Rock Lee’s standing around in a field yelling about Gai sensei and the flames of youth
Also, can we talk about Iroh’s acting skills? He was able to convince the guards that he had legitimately gone crazy!

@@lapanthanim It was a meta joke about how Nickelodeon wanted Aang to have a "cooler" outfit to sell figures
@@TheMacaroniPanda Thanks! So it was just some fun with the idea of absurd action figure costumes then.
