A small detail: the fire sages depend on hierarchy a lot, so they bow down to the Avatar as his servants. The air nomand monks are basically raising children, so they act more as mentors and parents. That can influence the Avatar a lot.
Very glad you're bringing up this form of firebending Carson. 22:48 My personal understanding of it is that he's bending the "heat" and that the smoke is just a visual aid, just like how airbending is technically invisible, but is still shown. And based on that (and other elements), here's my personal big theory on firebending : "Fire" is not really a thing, it's just a form of manifestation of heat. When stuff gets hot, it starts glowing (basically). All the other elements allow you to manipulate matter, but fire is not matter. Therefore, I think "fire"bending is actually "heat" bending. Just like firebending can extinguish a flame or stop the propagation of fire (CF Jeong Jeong's episode). Moreover, one has to remember that "coldness" isn't actually a thing. "Cold" is simply the absence of heat (energy). Therefore, with all of that in mind, firebending *should* be able to cool things down, and do it technically down to absolute zero. Now, it's probably extremely difficult and an insanely advanced form of firebending since Sozin is the *only one* we have seen pull off such heat displacement feat. . Now if we wanna go even further and try to tie things with lightning bending : Heat is a form of energy, electricity is as well. Perhaps firebending is just "energy" bending, or perhaps electricity is considered a refined form of heat, just like metal is a refined form of earth*.
It would be very interesting to have a formal explanation that energybending within people was actually an advanced/rare firebending technique, in the same way that redirecting lightning was developed by studying waterbenders.
Fun fact: In Avatar Kyoahi novels it got revaled that the previous Fire Avatar, Avatar Szeto dedicated most of his time to stablizing the Fire nation which was having too much in fighting and he did it through actually working as a government official and rising through the ranks through hard work. Anyway this actually serves a tiny bit of justification to Sozin's idea of a Fire nation Avatar should be loyal to Fire nation first since the last Avatar mainly served the fire nation (even if it was what was needed at the time)
Oh and here's an another bending theory : Waterbending allows you to change the state of matter that water takes by changing its temperature. Therefore airbending also should, and it is thus theoretically possible for airbenders to turn the nitrogen in the air liquid to absolutely decimate anyone unfortunate enough to be standing there.
I think it also shows that if they work together maybe there could've been trade and talk the 4 nations are very closed off to each other not working together sets them back I think
One of my absolute favorites of the ATLA series. aside from leaves from the vine and The 4 part finale and Katara's bloodbending! God this show is amazing!
Apparently in the new Roku novels, it is revealed that Sozin gave Roku his crown as a remainder to where he comes from. Sozin’s father ordered him to do this
This is also top 3 for me. And elevates the series to greater heights. Now the struggle within Suko isn't not a nuanced, complex individual search for identity and a moral compass, but a generational one that clashes over time. Really epic. The editing between both narrator's POV is just masterful. Sad I don't share the same amazement for anything that happened in Korra's show. The best writing and storytelling is seen in ATLA and only ATLA. Sorry for the non sequitur. Just hate that show)

i didnt want to get more into it, but im pretty sure its a form in the dragon dance which has its own stuff to talk about that i didnt want to spoil
The dragon choosing to die with his master gets to me, too. 😢
11:41
Actually most saddest part of the episode

12:27 caught me so off guard

The start of the BIG turning point of this story!
Oh shut up

The bar symbolism showing zuko being in a metaphorical cage is so fire bro.
basically sozin left roku to die. then, he tried to kill roku's next life by slaughtering the air nomads
people need to stop with this next life B.S its not real reincarnation as it is confirmed each avatar has his or her own soul and spirit
Apparently in the new Roku novels, it is revealed that Sozin gave Roku his crown as a remainder to where he comes from. Sozin’s father ordered him to do this
I hate that
@@BOLDcast yeah I also don’t know how to feel about it.
lindsay has to do a cosplay with that eye
One of the best episodes
You say that every episode
@@leonardomarquesbellini I haven't commented on an avatar episode in awhile so clearly not
@@chronics23 it was a joke about how you can say that about every book 3 episode. Like Carson joked about last episode.
@@leonardomarquesbellini ah I get ya lmao season 3 is fire
hihihi i'm so excited
