      I love getting your notifications. I like what you said about making the fun wherever you are: My favorite place to practice your techniques is when I'm in the checkout line at the grocery store. I talk to everyone and if I can get a smile out of someone that wasn't smiling before, I count that as a WIN.

    here is an example of a smart, genuine guy. he knows what he is talking about, explains it well, and helps everybody understand, with different examples for different learners. he is a great role model, explaining that you don’t have to drink at bars, you can just talk to people, but is responsible. he is outgoing, and helps other people be more outgoing as well. i normally don’t subscribe to somebody without watching a few videos first, but i instantly subbed. i know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but this is an amazing guy and a great role model.

    I'm not a really shy person but I find striking up a conversation with a stranger in a line really hard. I love and admire it when someone does it to me. But when I want to do it it seems weird and awkward. And even when I force myself to do it I feel like the conversation dies soon and then we go back to an even awkwarder silently standing in line. Any tips?

    • @Charismaoncommand
      @Charismaoncommand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +262

      Give yourself tons of credit for the awkward attempts. Seriously. Those form the foundation of the confidence necessary to make it go more smoothly. So every time you try - that's an A+ day. Also, practice removing the filter: just say a greater % of the things that come to your mind (not all, haha). Oftentimes good conversation is born from the inane things somebody says out loud, like in line at the check out "Oh man, that dark chocolate brand you have is the best..."

    • @TheVilivan
      @TheVilivan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      Yeah, trying, even if it's awkward, is the best thing you can do. I've had pretty severe anxiety for a while now and I basically set out a goal for myself to go ouside and talk to a stranger at least once a day and that helps a lot. Conversations like that start to feel much more natural.
      Every attempt is one step closer to greatness.

    • @foreignpaul
      @foreignpaul 6 ปีที่แล้ว +70

      John Dougherty Dude i used to be BEYOND awkward. I just realised that it's not à big deal, if a conversation develops, cool. If it dies out, you just say " Alright, see you around" and go get à beer. Also you can start a conversation with any kind of crap, you don't need to start talking about the theory of relativity.

    I love your channel so much! As a shy individual my confidence has always been circumstantial. This constant smile is common in service industry for example, so if you spend much of your time in that habitat, you will get used to it. The big "bullshit smile" every businessman has to know. But I agree that if you are used to more "honest" interactions with people(or if you are from Eastern Europe like me, where people tend to be colder towards strangers), it really seems creepy at times.

    Need your advice, Charlie. I feel like 10-15 of the friends I spend the most time with don’t know much about me, particularly because they never ask anything about my life. In conversations, I aim to remove my ego and shine the spotlight on them. And while I do this, my hope is that they will turn it around and ask about my life, too, but it often doesn’t happen. They keep responding to my questions and/or go off on tangents of their own. I’ll interject with little anecdotes here and there, but mostly, they never ask me to elaborate. So, time after time, I feel like they don’t know much about me. Do you have any advice or thoughts on the matter?

      I think the advice to explore new relationships is a good one, because there is a chance these are just the type that only like to talk about themselves. But when it comes to storytelling, there are little things you can do to get them asking you to tell more. Search for any of our storytelling videos, including the one with Kevin Hart. It all comes down to attracting their attention before you start and then to keeping a sense of mystery/humor going to maintain that attention

      fejj122 na Hey man i also have a group of 10-20 friends at school that i sort of hangout with. It’s been like this since grade 9 and I’m in 12 now. The only time we all see each other is at lunch when we, ahem, smoke dope. But I’ve learnt it’s just fine to socialize with them and never feel interested enough to pursue an out of school friendship. I only hangout with like 2-4 of them. Personally what works for me to be involved in a conversation is just being friendly chirped at for the dumb things I’ve done. I don’t share many stories of them with myself except for the most dramatic ones. Example; police pursuit (constant criminal jokes), strict dad (call him the punisher and warden etc.. just put ur embarrassment shit out there cause it’s actually pretty unlikely that people care so much that they would spread it around but at least they would remember it about u. I have no idea about my advice but like fuck it works for me and when I’m laughed at i find it funny as fuck too

    To be Passionate with the person you talk to brings so many more people over.
    It reminds me of..
    .. when I was in a club in colleage. At the first I felt so lonely because the people I used to talk to wasn't there. Then I striked up a conversation with a guy and it turned out we were so passionate about the subject (filmmaking) that Girls from different groups joined us all the time. I even rejected a good-looking girl who wanted to talk. (damn..)

You guys helped me out tremendously throughout this year and half of finding and exploring your channel and I can not express how much you guys are key to my personal growth as a person.
    Anyway, I do have two questions. This also may interest many others in every age range as well.
    How do I become a leader of a friend group, or a regular part of one? How can I be well respected and never on the receiving end of roasts, have tremendous influence on group decisions, be the one everyone wants to be around, and get invited to most, if not all of group events? As always take your time with this one and thank you for all your help over this time :)

    • @Charismaoncommand
      @Charismaoncommand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We definitely need some more videos on friend groups. I think this could be an entire video. But it starts with you. People gravitate towards positive emotion and away from needy/negative ones. So fill yourself with those emotions on your own. This can mean dancing around in the morning before leaving the house, watching more comedies, attending meetups that interest you. When you have that store of positive emotions it tends to come through in everything you do. All of a sudden you'll be brighter, plus you'll have things to invite people to. You'll be connecting different friend groups and naturally you'll be the one they call when something is going on

    I'm usually straight faced and very calm, but when I'm (sadly on MDMA to forget the world) I noticed everyone loving me. I was carrying this stranger and making silly dance moves the other night and noticed how both men and women were attracted and more friendly (way more friendly). I always wondered why I loved that self on MDMA, but now I know, I should try to be more free-minded and show the silly me hiding within. (No drugs needed)

    A lot of these videos boil down to: Relax, be yourself, stop giving into the instinct to hide within your own mind and water yourself down for the sake of other people. What I like is that he doesn’t just SAY that, he gives methods on HOW to just relax in different scenarios. It’s way more helpful than someone saying “just be yourself,” and somse of these methods help improve my social confidence a lot.
