    It makes me sad to discover all the dysfunction I grew up in. The abuse and neglect shaped me to be fearful of being rejected and feel insecure about my relationships with people. I feel overly conscious of people's opinions of me and fear that they have a negative perception of my appearance and behavior. I also have social anxiety and feel shaky and tense when interacting with others.

I am 66 and a people pleasers being often accused of trying to buy friendships. Its so obsurd but at leadt i am finally willing to look and try taking better care of myself first becore constantly reaching out to help others. I think i have had all the symptoms! Lol -so i start there, today! Love and light!❤

    I definitely had an insecure attachment with my caregiver, thus resulting in severe anxiety and a fear of being close to other people. "Terrified" is exactly how I would describe how I feel about close relationships.

    14:31 exactly my case. I don't have a good relationship with my mom and now as a mom I have insecure attachment with my children, not that they'll leave me because they're young, but I worry too much about their well being, and I'm slowly discovering it's unhealthy to shelter them so much.

    i prefer the word connection. i dont know why psychology loves that word. attachment is always a weakness. but being open and connected is in a interdependent relationship is good.

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because Attachment Theory is what Bowlby called it, Ainsworth followed and Hazan and Shazer expanded to include adult attachment theory

    • @charlesblair1900

      @@DocSnipes and , words have deeper meaning. In my professional opinion. Either 1 they approached it from ego and labeled it correctly but dont understand Attachment is weakness, but realized that oneness is reality. Or 2. They had a powerful relationship with it and they didn't look deep enough into the definiton and meaning of that word and mislabeled the ideology. It's similar to' mindfulness'. Presence is not mind nor is awareness. It's mislabeled at best , at worst it's a total misnoymer. The last thing in this society disconnected from nature is more mind more thoughts more reactiveness more judgment analysis etc. We are insane and until we can know how to think and how to know truth it is not only not helpful but its outright dangerous.

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It sounds like you're very in tune with your desire to love and be loved, which is wonderful. From what you’ve described, it might be helpful to explore the *anxious-preoccupied attachment style*. People with this style often seek closeness and intimacy but may feel uncertain about whether others will reciprocate. However, attachment styles can be complex, and it's also possible that you have a unique blend of traits. If you're interested, it might be beneficial to explore more about attachment styles at allceus.com/AskDocSnipes to see which aspects resonate most with you.

    Doc Snipes I have my psychiatrist appointment next month, I've been watching your videos and feel like I have hunch what categories I may fall into, but I'm afraid if I go in with a condition in mind that I will come off as shopping for a diagnosis or even drug seeking because one is treated with stimulants.. could you make a video on the topic?

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know if you are in the U.S. ... but, in the U.S. psychiatrists mostly write prescriptions. They "can" do individual counseling, but their rate is usually prohibitively high for that. So, virtually everyone going to see them is going to be looking for a medication treatment. It is every day for them, I wouldn't be concerned. Just be honest about your condition and the help you are hoping for.

    Is ADD linked to insecure attachment?

    • @DocSnipes
      @DocSnipes  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching the video. Yes, there is a significant link between ADHD and insecure attachment, with ADHD symptoms contributing to the development of attachment issues when not properly understood or addressed by caregivers.
