This was somewhat true considering what transpired. The Blades of Chaos were important in reigniting Surtr's monstrous self, thus enabling Asgard's destruction and Ragnarok fulfillment. The Leviathan Axe was made specifically to counterbalance Mjolnir, and in the final battle against Thor after both weapons clash rapidly, Kratos urged Thor to forgo the needles violence for the sake of their love for their respective children. Daupnir in many ways, was a key to get through the tricky parts of the prophecy, from how it is vital in defeating Heimdall and Odin, and how it confirms Kratos' own place in the grand scheme of Ragnarok.

When Odin talked shit to Kratos, I bet what hurt the most is that most of that did ring true. He was never seen as some immortal being that would give praise, only a monster that sought out so much vengeance that even those that did believe in him were slaughtered... once even by his own hands.
It's interesting because he did rule sparta for a time but you can argue his wars and bloodlust brought down olympus on his head, and inturn doomed sparta who were his supporters. Hes gotten alot more mild overtime.
The Spartans worshipped him and other mortals respected him as a god such as the Atlanteans who addressed him as "Lord Kratos". This feels less like Odin getting to Kratos head and more like Kratos knowing Odin is full of shit but doesn't feel like correcting him.
@Telleva he was seen as a cruel God of war though. The Spartans only believed in him because he helped wage their wars. He wasn't respected or favored by anyone save his own people
That logo when the blood was Greek and Spartan and also that scarf design on the spear was remembrance arm of Sparta the name of the spear,I mean the design almost alike and it was used by kratos and deimos
Something that really sticks out to me about this scene beyond Kratos acknowledging Brok as a great blacksmith, despite his deficit, is the apparent surprised look on the Lady’s face when she sees Kratos’s blood. First we see the symbol of Olympus, indicating Kratos’s Olympian heritage, then the symbol of Sparta, indicating he is also a Spartan. And that’s when the spear gains the red sash. Now, I find it kind of interesting how the draupnir spear is gold with a red sash on it, almost like it had Kratos as its master before it was even forged.
Man Odin was the True Loki in this history he even hás The Mask tô prove It, só mischievus, só manipulative, man props tô the writers tô make him só good of a villain
He really cannot see past anything other than himself, truly a pitiful, vicious little man and almost everything he had done in this game is questionable, there's absolutely no reason for him to do so yet he chose to do it anyway. Totally agreed with you chap, prop to the writer too +1
So, if I get it right, the reason the Lady wanted Kratos' blood was to bind Draupnir Spear to him so any of its abilities and manifestation-disappearance could be triggered by will. It's quite the circle; the Blades were given to him by a cruel master and are cursed to be with him while his final obtained weapon, which is the first weapon type he ever trained with, was given via the efforts of and officially blessed by a friend.
I love scenes in fiction where a weaponsmith makes their finest work. Seems like the lady of the water knew that her eons of training led to this final, ultimate weapon that would seal her legacy as a legend of her craft. Even though it has a more solemn and remorseful tone, I also love the Hitori Hanzo scene from Kill Bill vol 1 where he tells her he’s made her the finest and sharpest blade of all time. Gives me chills just thinking about him telling her even God will be cut if he should stand in the way of her justice and vengeance.
I really hope we get the ost for Draupnir's first blood. It was so full of glory and pride that it almost brought me to tears hearing it while impaling a grim. Edit: Ahh found it, it's close to the end of the song Svartalfheim in the ost.
This "Lady" is obviously inspired from the Lady of the Lake who also gave Arthur a special sword but she was made into a smith mermaid, hence why you find her in a Lake, lmao ! Makes so much sense now !
She's inspired by her yes but mimir directly mentions that there is another lady of rhe lake in his homeland and its implied she's the one who gave arthur his swoed
So, since the mermaid did not recognize Brok because his soul is not whole, but did recognize Kratos despite his prior history of death(s)... Does this mean Kratos hauling his entire soul back to life at least twice being more effective resurrections than esoteric nercomancies?
Souls in greek has no parts it is one whole but here soul has 3 parts and Sindri weh Brock dies was able to retrieve only 2 parts form the 3 it doesn't mean what greek way of returning form the death is better but that Sindi was only partially successful
9:55 Odin: What do you even know of godhood? Kratos in his mind: I'm the f*****n god of war in Greece Odin: In your lifetimes, has anyone ever worshipped you? Ever prayed to you? Kratos in his mind: I see my people worshipping me and prayed to me when they need me in battle back then.
I mean he did have followers that worshipped and adored him even more than any other gods followers ever could. Kratos was the sole god of Spartans he commanded and fought with them in their battles, side by side.
When i first saw this Mermaid in the trailers, i thought it was a Margygur, which is the Norse version of a Mermaid. Turns out its simply just a Mermaid. It's a bit disappointing to me, because Margygurs have the power of prophecy. 🧜♀🧜♀🧜♀
Mainstream casuals who don't think any of the old games are important: "Oh look a cool spear thingy" Hardcore OG fans who played every game in the franchise: Holy shit.... They just brought back the most underappreciated weapon in the series back with an unexpected twist, Hell yeah 👍

He wasn't respected or favored by anyone save his own people
Brok is Kratos best friend. After Mimir. I am definitely sure he will be pissed if something happens to Brok
Odin: your not the God you once were
Kratos: fuck around and find out
"the blood of a god" gives me chills
That logo when the blood was Greek and Spartan and also that scarf design on the spear was remembrance arm of Sparta the name of the spear,I mean the design almost alike and it was used by kratos and deimos
true
Totally agreed with you chap, prop to the writer too +1
Kratos in his Mind: *Deimos...I have gained Your Favorite*
"It is the nature of a thing that matters. Not it's form."
Kratos learned that from a great blacksmith.
Considering Spartans always fought with spears, Kratos must have found it glorious.
I love how he begs Brok for blessing
So, if I get it right, the reason the Lady wanted Kratos' blood was to bind Draupnir Spear to him so any of its abilities and manifestation-disappearance could be triggered by will. It's quite the circle; the Blades were given to him by a cruel master and are cursed to be with him while his final obtained weapon, which is the first weapon type he ever trained with, was given via the efforts of and officially blessed by a friend.
"Adequate enough for ya". Loved how the game used a lot of references from the previous game
Asking Brok for his blessing might be the nicest thing Kratos has ever done for someone.
that stare between the two after the blessing is the stoic equivalent to a hug.
This "Lady" is obviously inspired from the Lady of the Lake who also gave Arthur a special sword but she was made into a smith mermaid, hence why you find her in a Lake, lmao ! Makes so much sense now !
Didn't Mimir also mention her by name? The Lady of Lake?
She's inspired by her yes but mimir directly mentions that there is another lady of rhe lake in his homeland and its implied she's the one who gave arthur his swoed
@@gloriousporpoise9731 Yeah, that's what I said.
the music swelling up to take off right when Kratos receives and activated the ring got me teary eyed goddamn idk why
Brok spitting on the spear bleessed it with wind abilities ❤😂lol
So, since the mermaid did not recognize Brok because his soul is not whole, but did recognize Kratos despite his prior history of death(s)... Does this mean Kratos hauling his entire soul back to life at least twice being more effective resurrections than esoteric nercomancies?
Well kratos climbing out of hell like a lot of times, with his physical body intact so...
And he suck hades soul no?
@@chernozem7335 holy crap, I even forgot that guy made Hades eat his own medicine...
Remember: Hades tried pulling Kratos's soul out in GOW3. Not to mention he practically has 2 souls within him.
Souls in greek has no parts it is one whole but here soul has 3 parts and Sindri weh Brock dies was able to retrieve only 2 parts form the 3
it doesn't mean what greek way of returning form the death is better but that Sindi was only partially successful
Its a great scene watching a person who does not kneel to anyone drop a knee to another
funny how everything Odin paints kratos out to be is a direct reflection of himself
It's funny how Odin describes himself while trying to instigate Kratos
This scene drew a tear in my eye seeing Kratos show care and respect for Brok.
9:55
Odin: What do you even know of godhood?
Kratos in his mind: I'm the f*****n god of war in Greece
Odin: In your lifetimes, has anyone ever worshipped you? Ever prayed to you?
Kratos in his mind: I see my people worshipping me and prayed to me when they need me in battle back then.
I mean he did have followers that worshipped and adored him even more than any other gods followers ever could. Kratos was the sole god of Spartans he commanded and fought with them in their battles, side by side.
When i first saw this Mermaid in the trailers, i thought it was a Margygur, which is the Norse version of a Mermaid. Turns out its simply just a Mermaid.
It's a bit disappointing to me, because Margygurs have the power of prophecy. 🧜♀🧜♀🧜♀
I think she is Nimue, The Lady of the Lake
@@regidio5083 Nimue exists, but it isn't that lady. Mimir says so
3:40
Something tells me Mimir knew all along brok was reanimated and didn't say anything to anyone
That would make sense considering his own rebirth as it were. Game recognizes Game.
I love that like draupnir multiplies the spear can be multiplied and thrown in a barrage of attacks
Brok was deeply honoured. To my guess it's the only line where he does not cuss 4:55
Mainstream casuals who don't think any of the old games are important: "Oh look a cool spear thingy"
Hardcore OG fans who played every game in the franchise: Holy shit.... They just brought back the most underappreciated weapon in the series back with an unexpected twist, Hell yeah 👍
The gesture that the lady makes towards kratos with her hands MIGHT BE the blessing
5:07 What the hell was that for 😄😂🤣
His blessing that's what haha
The battle and the MUSIC is phenomenal 🙌
Let it be known in future generations . Draupnir, the spear used by Kratos /all father to slay the Aesir God Heimdall the all seeing, forged by the Lady of the Lake and blessed by the legendary blacksmith Brok of the Huldra Brothers 🙏
Kratos been out there being the inspiring Chad we all need.
Pretty sure Thor is the Chad... Chads are tall, strong, confident, attractive, charismatic, but not very intelligent.
@@Ozzie_Mandias You find the fat dobber attractive and charismatic
@@Ozzie_Mandias Thor is fat
@@a-10warthog72 Keep in mind Thor did kill Kratos… he then resuscitated him back to life and Kratos never seriously harmed Thor… Thor is the true Chad!
Thor is bigger, stronger, bolder, frightening…
@@Ozzie_Mandias now you put the points in the table, smh. The defibrillator was the part I laughed the most.
10:11 is Odin honestly sounds more like he's talking about himself here rather than Kratos
Brok is the sh** man, he’s a real one… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude, Brok should be shooked after he knows that Kratos doesn't bow to anyone
This weapon I call it a tribute to Deimos kratos’s brother
Once more, Kratos has the three things which every Spartan needs; a spear, a shield and a heart for the fight.
