I may have missed it but can't remember any mention of what size speakers we were listening to in any of the 3. Might be old fashioned, but that's right at the front of my check-list. I could also mention the comparison demo was played on a bass that "nobody" owns or is acquainted with, so there is no frame of reference there either.
The problem with the demonstration is that the off-sider is flipping through dials so quickly that we can't really make out the tones. Perhaps give us one amp per video so we can spend time listening properly to what the amp can do.
@P B true, always go for 2nd hand when it comes to gear. usually when people are in a bind, the gear is the first thing to go and you can find some great deals. just gotta inspect in thoroughly to make sure you arent getting a dud.
That Ashdown looks small. Are you sure it`s not the MAG 250 watt with the 10 inch speaker? And its 180 watts through the internal speaker and 300 watts with an external speaker plugged in. Looks nice in the green.
I have a Rumble 40 it's miles ahead of alot of stuff in it's price range. Looking at this ashdown and hearing it I'm very impressed with the flexibility of the EQ and it seems super powerful and to me OD sounds great, I may have to seek one out to try
No, its really not. The Rumble is just another crap digital Class D combo amp. Orange and the new Boss Katana amps are actually analog A/B amps and sound worlds better. More powerful too.
@@michaelbell75 The Rumble 40 is a class D amp, but it isn't digital. It's an analog amp with some switched presets. The Rumble Studio 40 is a digital modeling amp.
Heard many interesting tones but never heard a true bass. Running through all the settings, knobs so quickly did not really help. It also seemed like you were really pushing the sale of Ashdown.
I purchased the Fender Rumble 100, I’ve watched many many videos and no one seems to explain a little bit about what the GAIN knob does. Sorry for the newb question. Can someone explain this. Also another question when playing a bass I see everyone fiddling with the amp knobs to eq the sound, what do you do with the bass’s own knobs? Do you set them to the up position as well? The bass that I own is the Ibanez sr505e that’s a whole lot of knobs on the bass itself haha.
From the Fender Rumble manual: GAIN - Adjusts the incoming signal level from your bass, optimizing the preamp signal level for a variety of basses. The GAIN control will also affect the level of distortion/compression if VINTAGE and/or OVERDRIVE are selected. I generally set it around noon for my passive P bass with the volume and tone up all the way most of the time. As for the rest of the knobs, I made a video on some different sounds you can get with a Rumble that might be of help to you: th-cam.com/video/JBpAyRDLIKc/w-d-xo.html
Normally a gain knob what does is increase the input level, so it increases the the signal coming from your bass, as per the Bass knob, well, it increases the low frequencies, the fat sound so to say
These reviews without mics are only partial reviews. Mic the amps and the room so we can hear what it actually sounds like, not just the pre/direct signal.
I wanted to say ashdown because it has the power but the Fender sounded the best to me from what i heard on this video. Then again, whichever one has the least volume should be the one all bass players should go for. I say this as a guitarist with your best interests at heart. XD
That 6 string looks like an attacking Beluga whale.
Thank you, now it's the only thing I see in it.
Single cut basses are amazing. They sustain forever. Try one you’ll love it
True! It looks even more like the sperm whale that ate Pinocchio.

I got the Ibanez BTB845sc bass (Nathan's axe in a 5 string). Strung it as EADGC, and it's my favourite instrument to play.
Just a note - I had a Mag 300 2x10 combo and the manual says you need to add another cab to get the full 300w. As is it puts out about 180w
yeh the old N watts at 8 ohms N x ~2 watts at 4 ohms thing - Fender does that with their 500 watt rumble (~300 without external cab)
Cheers guys, another cracking job from Nathan and Lee, or Nat'a'Lee as I call them. :)
dont do that !
One of the best intros, if not the best . . .
Really?

Wow! That Ibanez Singlecut 6string looks awesome!!!
And yeah...great playing too. *ggg*
Good morning from the States! --Perfect timing for 1 of your videos.
So good when the band is together! Would love to see more Rumble amps for sure. Well done fellas
For me if you are into pure rock / Heavy rock, then Orange, for versatility the Fender
Now to find a video called "Even More Affordable Bass Amps."

For the viewers: Ashdown C115300 reviewed here is no longer manufactured.
We heard some great pickups in this video; I couldn't tell what the combo amps sounded like.

Ashdown combos always sound great! I have the AAA-120-15T.
going to look at a used Ashdown MAG 300 210 ... so you dig the Ashdown ? still.. cheers from Canada !
@@chrisb48907 Yes I still like it a lot! 🎶
@@ksump1 thanks....i bought the MAG yesterday (used) but man it sounds Killer !
After this I'm glad I bought the Rumble, clearly better tone.
Only thing I can complain about is that you are playing very high end basses into budget friendly amps. Great playing as always though!
I have to say I am well impressed with Ashdown after buying it from PMT. Sightly more at £399. But worth the money.
going to look at a used Ashdown MAG 300 210 ... so you dig the Ashdown ? still.. cheers from Canada !
What a sexy Stingray 😱🥰
Nathan on a 6!!

@@michaelbell75 The Rumble 40 is a class D amp, but it isn't digital. It's an analog amp with some switched presets.
The Rumble Studio 40 is a digital modeling amp.
Can we have some less talented individuals demoing in future? 😂
lots of jocularity here. i actually want to know the thoughtful take on these amps...
Lee accidentally swearing is my favorite part of every video.
needed this video
Get the most wattage. Better yet, buy used get the bang for the buck. The Fender did sound best from here. That does not mean it really sounds best.
Really not a conclusive video when it's only DI - the speaker can make a world of difference
That is one nifty looking MusicMan bass! Sounds ok too :-)
Heard many interesting tones but never heard a true bass. Running through all the settings, knobs so quickly did not really help.

“I say... no need for that”. Too funny

On the Orange, you can tune with the master cut to not hear it.
i was shouting Read The eFFing Manual internally, yes...
The specs on the listing for the MAG say its a 2x10
How tall are you, Lee?
Make a video about fodera bass plz
"NO NEED FOR THAT "In Britain accent. Classic
are they giggleable?
Was not the Ashdown a separate head and cabinet? Sure looked so.
Nope, it's a combo.
It's like Anderton's ignores the Rumble Stage and Studio.
Not into basses, then I heard the intro.. Funk that not into bass life
Just me or did buddy have a toot there in the intro?
That BTB's gross. Really. Good vid, mind.
These reviews without mics are only partial reviews. Mic the amps and the room so we can hear what it actually sounds like, not just the pre/direct signal.
Must bass players always funk it out rather than playing rock like a normal person? How many of us out there buy basses to play funk?
You’re gonna hear more of the amps capabilities with funk rather than rock bc most rock songs are just the root notes being played
Like a “normal person” What in the hell are you talking about?
The stingray mops the floor with that shitty Ibanez
This is not a bass. It is a guitar!
Where are the new Gibson SG’s at!!! 😂
I miss the captain
that bass must be destroyed
i wish he wouldnt just solo the whole time. PLAY SOME BASIC RHYTHM
nothing more soulful than a couple white british chaps playing bass
That thing Nathan is playing is one of the ugliest things I’ve ever seen, but it sounds incredible.
First
That blue bass at the beginning sounds... not good
as a guitarist i think its gross to watch two bass players jamming
stop it. just stop it.
The guy in green isn't half as funny as he thinks he is
Boomers.
orange sound really bad, empty, muddy and that overdrive omg totally bees
