Presets/Effects:: 7:07 - Rumble Studio 16:32 - Boss Katana (I personally found the Rumble Studio more Intuitive, which is impressive considering it gives you more customization with the effects. It sadly doesn't have a 4-band eq. It also takes about 30 seconds to start up.)
I owned the fender studio 40 and while it wasn’t a bad amp, I just wasn’t crazy about it and wound up selling to a friend of mine. The 110 Boss Katana on the other hand, I played in my local music shop and all I can say is Wow! I immediately went home and ordered the 210 version! That was easily the best sounding combo I’ve ever played. I will probably never use most of the effects, but the amp itself just sounded so stinking good!! I was determined to actually get the Fender 50 watt Adam Clayton all tube combo, but no bs, after playing side by side with the Katana I thought the Boss actually sounded much better! And it’s like $1500 dollars cheaper lol. This coming from a guy that has been all about tubes for quite some time, but the class ab of the boss just sounds so full and punchy, and even the 110 was freaking LOUD. I can hardly wait for my 210 to come in!!!
I picked up my studio rumble used for 250$ USD. For me a beginner/ intermediate player that’s currently trying to dial in sounds I love it. I find the app has some serious bugs that still need to work out but it’s so easy to use the controls on the amp I’ve stopped using the app all together. There is a delay in the Wi-Fi also but it’s pretty easy to work around. All together a pretty great piece of gear. Definitely check it out
You guys keep mentioning doing an in depth review of the Fender Rumble Studio. I can't seem to find it on your channel? Did you guys end up being scared about entering the menu on the Studio and managing all the settings? 🤣I just find the Rumble Studio 40 to be a contender for best small bass amp out there. Not in the least because of all of the great options to hook up with effect chains and stereo send/return and dual XLR-outs (pre/post or stereo options in the menu). Please do an in depth review! 😁👌
I recently purchased the Fender and TBH the out of the box experience wasn't very good. The first thing the instructions tell you to do is to hook the amp to your wifi and download the latest firmware if needed. It wants you to do that before you can even proceed to do anything else. OK. not a problem. I've done that many times with other products and it's always been a smooth and easy thing to do. Not so much with the fender. No matter what I did, it would not connect to my Wi-fi, not even in manual mode. In fact, the minute I tried to manually enter my network information. it would puke and throw you right back out. I thought, well, maybe it doesn't like my router. even though the other 20 or so things hooked up to it here at the house seemed to like it just fine. So I tried to. connect through a hot spot from my phone and had zero luck doing that. So, after loading up the app ad instructed in the next step for quick (lol) setup.I tried to connect and set the Wi-Fi through that which according to the Fender online instructions I should have been able to do, but no dice again. Then I started having problems with the app itself not wanting to pair to my phone through Bluetooth. So not only was the Wi-Fi dodgy in the fender the Bluetooth was spotty as well. Just for an FYI I have been messing around with computers for decades and I'm very familiar with Wi-Fi protocols as well as Bluetooth. If I can't get that thing to connect properly with all my experience, I have no idea how someone who's a newbie is going work around these issues. I have no complaints with how the amp sounded and many of the built in presets were usable. That said, what good is it If you cannot get it to connect so that you can use the app to modify the existing presets or create new presets of your own and store them. Again, TBH. having been a bassist for over 50 years. I have little time anymore for products that don't work as advertised. That one went back. and from what I can see doing some web searching on the Internet. I'm not the only one having problems with these amps connecting to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth reliably. Maybe your experience was better than mine. Maybe the amp was defective? Who knows? All I can say is it went right back to the seller. I think I'm going to try the Katana.
Well, a Rumble that actually sounded decent…. That’s a first. Just a pity the only options are 40 watt for the studio for a 1x10 or 800 watt for the stage. Fender have sorted out modelling it seems. Leaps and bounds better than their other D class amps. Boss is a good unit. But doesn’t really have any actual amp models. Just 3 basic settings and a load of FX. What it does is good. It’s good, but it’s Boss. For once I prefer the Fender.
I have the ruby red metallic Nathan is playing. Yes it's expensive for a Squier, but the fit, finish and tone is great regardless of price. They seem to be disappearing fast here in OZ.
it has a bunch of standard presets with different amp tones from Ampeg to fender bassman, some basic patches with different effects like chorus, flanger, fuzz etc. And then artist inspired presets like Chris Squire, Krist Novoselic, Geddy Lee, Flea, Steve Harris, Peter Hook, Bootsy Collins, Paul McCartney, Jaco Pastorius etc
Great video and amazing playing. I just don't really see the need for an overly digital bass combo. I think the big selling point of the guitar amp was its affordability which meant it was genuinely competitive. The bass version is not that well priced and has too many competitors. I would love to go to somewhere like Andertons one day and try bass amps out. I'm still looking for a bass amp that truly suits me.
This test is not good with the Fender 40 Studio amp. The missing is the Fender Tone app on your iPhone or Android and the footswitch MGT4 WITH DIRECT PROGRAMABLE presets. And a looper. There are many amplifiers, cabinets and many FX stomps. Cloud presets etc. etc. This Fender Rumble 40 Studio Amp is many times better than the Boss Kantana. With more power just the post XLR out to a somewhat larger amplifier. This is the new era.

If youre looking for a decent alternative to a Katana, the Peavey Vypyr solid state 75w 1x12 or 60w 1x12 hybrid tube combo will definetly give you a bang for the buck.
I do love the modern squire guitars, but to be honest these anniversary ones seemed a bit… swing and a miss for me. A gold plated squire? C’mon. BUT that red one Nate’s got looks amazing

Lee's face when Nate said "shitload of presets" was priceless!
I preferred the Fender. it sounded more pleasing to my ear.
I own the katana 210 and about to test its gig ability now next Saturday! The 1w mode is perfect for home practice 👌
Great! Could you please give your experience and review with your gig? Did the 210 Katana do a good job? Thanks
Any follow up on this you’ve had it a few months now ?
The Goldgious Squier Jazz Basses almost stole the show. It was interesting to see you change your mood according to the tones. Great video!
Weight is definitely a big factor. Both sound good, I think the Fender sounded more like a bass amp with a solid bottom
That was my exact thought.
@@yuichituba and on top of that, the studio 40's weight is comporable to my tiny 10 watt warwick amp

Fantastic playing by Lee through the Fender! Love it

What more could I want? A head version of the Katana of course. :-)
How about doing the fender rumble stage 800 comparison or review
Need a Katana bass. Just so much stuff you can do with it

Yes!! About time the Fender Studio 40 had limelight.. Amazing little amp .
When are you going to do the review of the Fender Rumble Studio 40?
I have one myself now but would love to see what you can do with it :)
I could prolly listen to you guys all day
Opening was glorious. Always fun, cheers, fellas.
I have the rumble stage 800. I don’t need anything else. 800 watts with the 2 built in 2x10s and my other 2x10 cabinet. Great amp!
Any glitches in the control interface..reliable??
Awesome playing lads!
The Fender sound near the end very 80s Level 42 style!!!!........😎😎🎸🎸🤘🏼🤘🏼✍🏼✍🏼
When is he going to get Mark on the channel?

Where is the video comparing the Katana to the Ampeg?

Looking forward to hearing what you can do with it :) please use a PBass ;)

For my ears Fender has a more prominent and natural sound. More volume and presence. Boss is flatter.

Woow verry good
I have tried to play through a few Boss Katana's and they give me a headache. I will stick with tube amps.
shouldnt a bass amp be more Scottish Claymore...and a guitar amp be more Katana...lol🤔
