Daryle was one of the most underrated voices in country music. He was a great vocalist and stylist. When he sang a song, he was able to make it his own. He left us far too young. RIP Daryle and thanks for playing this one MRM.
That was Johnny Paycheck at the end he wrote the song he was sick at the time of the recording so that’s why he sounded like that. He died a few months later.
I read Daryl Singletary died two days after he sang this song on stage. He had a blood clot that took his life very unexpectedly. Did anyone else hear about this?
This song was written and originally recorded by Johnny Paycheck. Who came into the last part of the song. To me it was written about the country music industry. They tend to push the old artists aside and don't play or put their music on the radio any longer.
It's called a recitation when the singer speaks normally for a few lines and resumes singing. In the sixties and seventies there was a whole genre of songs that were recitation songs. Porter Wagner, Red Sovine, did a good many of them. Check out Porter Wagner, Carroll County Accident, for one of the most well known, or Red Sovines Teddy Bear.
My husband and I sat in the parking lot of a restaurant in Charleston SC and talked to Daryle and Rhett Akins in 2001 they were giving an acoustic show for the Military Base that night, They were 2 of the most down to earth guys and Funny!!! we all talked for almost an hour..was very nice
This is funny because I heard Johnny Pacheck sing this first when my parents played it. Then when I was an adult (early 20's) I heard Daryle Singletary sing it. Loved it both times. I remember working for SWBYP's. We had a lot of Texas people move to St. Louis to follow their job. I heard more and more (real) country music while partying with these Texas country fans. Great times.
Actually, Donald Young aka Johnny Paycheck wrote this song while in prison after being sentenced for shooting a guy in the head in a bar in Hillsboro, Ohio in the mid 80's.
This sounds a lot like the Song done by the Booth Brothers called "The Touch of the Masters Hand" and it is beautiful. I love the song and it touches your heart. Please give it a listen. I think you will like it almost as much as I do.
Never was a Paycheck fan so I never heard him sing this. I loved Daryl singing a lot. But for his death he would have gone a long ways with his music. Great voice!
Darryle was a great singer and I recently found out we lost him in 2018. Left a wife and 3 or 4 small children. One of the most underrated voices in country IMO. Seemed like a really great guy too!
One of my all-time favorite singers.. I first discovered this song on a random unlabeled burnt CD when I was around 16 years old. So around 2008-ish. I remember listening to him a lot in my truck.. Hit me hard when he unexpectedly died last year. On February 12th, I believe.. I remember watching him and showing TH-cam videos of him to my best friend only a 2-3 before he passed.
Great version. The original was Johnny Paycheck. AMAZING!!!! He also does a song called Take This Job and Shove It. You won't be disappointed to hear that song lol
"DON'T TAKE HER SHE'S ALL I GOT" is also a really good tune. There's also a song I think is really great, but it never became s hit, and that song is "THANKS TO THE CATHOUSE I'M IN THE DOGHOUSE WITH YOU".
after George strait and cheryl crow sung u said u hadn't ever heard of her u listen to her and kid rock sings to get her the song was called the picture every loved that song it is dam good
Yes, you're right. Johnny Paycheck wrote this song in prison after his arrest of shooting someone in the head in a bar in Hillsborough, Ohio in the mid eighties.
It’s funny you kinda compare it to Randy Travis. Randy Travis is the one that helped Daryle Singletary get his start in country music and helped him get a record deal. I’ve been a musician most of my life and have been playing gigs every month for the last two years and Daryle is my top influence. He’s by far my favorite out of them all.
Randy's stage manager/ designer, Logsdon, was Daryle's first road manager. It was great when they all toured together. Those guys were fun to hang out with.
THE TALKING PARTS IN THE SONG WERE DONE BY THE SONGS ORIGINAL SINGER MR JOHNNY PAYCHECK. IF YOU LISTEN TO IT AGAIN YOU CAN TELL THE TWO DIFFERENT VOICES. LOVE THE MRM SHIRT BTW.
George Strait is actually releasing this on his next album, Honkytonk Time Machine, March 29th. He's performed it live a few times. You should review that. You seem to really like George Strait.
Also, sounded like Kris Kristofferson at the end. I'm going to check it out! And, bgw, lately I feel like an old violin that been through a chipper! Lol
I wont get home in time for this one but maybe I can watch the next ones. I missed most of last nights premieres... Is there a link to your shirts, I want one
His best song was I let her Lie!! It's a great song and I was thinking that he was sounding more like Merle Haggard more then Randy Travis. I don't know what that kinda singing and talking is called but it's more prevalent in older Country. Because the songs was written more about life then dancing and beaches like todays Crap!!
I have always loved this song, both versions!!! I would love to see you react to some Country/Gospel song, such as "I Saw The Light" by Hank Williams, and "Why Me Lord" by Kris Kristofferson. There's one video of him telling why he wrote the song... It's a beautiful story!!
Both Johnny Paycheck and Daryle Singletary are dead after singing this song......Daryle sang this the last song in a live show and died that night......very ironic I guess.....gotta watch out what your say or sing your justified by your words and condemned by them.....and every idle word you speak you will be held accountable for....
It was a Johnny pay check song and that was Johnny paycheck at the end when he was in hospital dying for real bro
It's called a monologue when singers talk while doing a song.
R.I.P. to one of the greatest country singers ever.
Daryle was one of the most underrated voices in country music. He was a great vocalist and stylist. When he sang a song, he was able to make it his own. He left us far too young. RIP Daryle and thanks for playing this one MRM.
R.I.P. Mr Singletary. The voice at the end was the original singer of the song Johnny Paycheck right before he passed away
Ty would laugh if he heard the way that I pronounce your last name. I have to make a conscious effort to not pronounce it the Cajun Way. LOL
BK Durio I think he pronounces my last name wrong on purpose lol
@@barrettgranger9139 I am almost positive that he does. LOL
It's called a recitation. The coolest but saddest thing about this is he has passed away. Always closed his shows with this song. RIP Darryl
great singer, R.I.P.
RIP DARYLE GREAT SINGER
That was Johnny Paycheck at the end he wrote the song he was sick at the time of the recording so that’s why he sounded like that. He died a few months later.
I read Daryl Singletary died two days after he sang this song on stage. He had a blood clot that took his life very unexpectedly. Did anyone else hear about this?
Recitation when you tell a story.
Such a badass song, with a badass singer, with a badass writer also
This song was written and originally recorded by Johnny Paycheck. Who came into the last part of the song. To me it was written about the country music industry. They tend to push the old artists aside and don't play or put their music on the radio any longer.
When they start with the lower pitch into the higher pitch in their voice is what I always heard as a scoop
RIP to Darrell and Johnny
Randy travis helped give him his record deal. Daryle died in 2018 at the age of 46
Song originally done by Johnny Paycheck who was actually doing the last few words in this song.
I saw Johnny sing that song live right after he got out of prison.
Love this Daryle’s version of this song, he was a great singer, R.I.P.
It's called a recitation when the singer speaks normally for a few lines and resumes singing. In the sixties and seventies there was a whole genre of songs that were recitation songs. That was Johnny Paycheck towards the end he passed away not long after that was recorded
I love this cover as well.
I met daryle singletary about 4 years ago great guy
thanks for playing this one
❤ Daryle Singletary! True Country, RIP
I like paychecks original cut but I love the last time he sang it at the opry shortly before he left this world..
Lucky. I wish I could of met him and seen him in concert. That would be a moment to cherish forever.

Jhonny paycheck wrote this song before he went to jail in the 70s
Actually, Donald Young aka Johnny Paycheck wrote this song while in prison after being sentenced for shooting a guy in the head in a bar in Hillsboro, Ohio in the mid 80's.
Beautiful song RIP MR SINGLETARY.

Happy early birthday
Johnny Paycheck wrote that song when he was in prison for killing someone. Johnny was referring to his life in prison.
Johnny didn't kill the guy bullet just brushed the guy's head. Get the facts straight.
He passed away. The older voice in the end is Johnny Paycheck who did the original. R.I.P Darryl
Never was a Paycheck fan so I never heard him sing this. I loved Daryl singing a lot. But for his death he would have gone a long ways with his music. Great voice!

Loved Daryle and his unique voice and take on songs. Left us much too young but his music lives on. RIP
I agree with Lisa Floyd. “ I let her lie. Is a great song.
Love the shirt
Great Song originally sang by Johnny Paycheck. Great song no matter who is singing it.

That's my cousin rip darryl singletary
At the very end of this song, the person who talked it out was the late Johnny Paycheck. Both may Daryle Singletary and Johnny Paycheck rest in Peace.
Vern Gosdin Chiseled In Stone would be a great song to play
Please Ty do this song
Yes!!!!!! He has to react to Chiseled in Stone Vern Gosdin
Most definitely. Anyone that has had a divorce. Or dealing with a separation should listen to that one. Man. It is a song that makes you tear up.
That was Johnny paycheck at the end
This is real country. Not that BS they play on the radio
When they talk in the song it is generally referred to as a recitation in country music.
That is a vocal technique called "vocal fry". And it's not just used in country music.
He's not referring to the vibrato it's actually like a recital
Me again! It was actually Johnny Paycheck at the end, the original artist of the song I believe.
Yes, you're right. Johnny Paycheck wrote this song in prison after his arrest of shooting someone in the head in a bar in Hillsborough, Ohio in the mid eighties.
Johnny paycheck old violin the best
This is a great song but I'll always remember him for "I Let Her Lie" or "Too Much Fun"...R.I.P.
That was a good cover of this song, but Johnny Paychecks original was the best. One of my favorite songs
This guy is great!! He even inspired me to create my own channel!! Keep up the great posts bud. You are doing great.
I let her lie is a good song.
I let her lie is a good one.
I love the addition of Johnny paycheck the original singer of that song.
Me too. I'm a Paycheck fan. Love his one obscure song, "THANKS TO THE CATHOUSE, I'M IN THE DOGHOUSE WITH YOU".
@@derrickhorner6058 That was actually the last time he was recorded from what i hear

At the end when he was talking that was Johny Paycheck talking.

I think George Jones would have done an awesome cover of this

This man died with Covid.
No, he passed away long before COVID. He passed away from a blood clot February 12, 2018.
@@melaniering6502 OK. I was wrong same as it is here at my house. Sorry for the misinformation.
I like Daryle, but I wish youd done Johnny Paycheck, as he was the original
Yes sir! This is a good one although I prefer the original Paycheck version.
This song reminds me of the Hagg, The Possum, and John Anderson.
Nice song, first time I have heard it.
😱😱
Check out Johnny Paycheck...the original singer who wrote the song.
💖 The shirt

I would call that country sound you speak of "Twang"
It’s called a resitation, or talking blues.

@MRM I checked ypur play list you didn't do this one by James Ingram. Your mom would know this.
