On my 65th birthday and the first day of retirement, I met John Conlee in Hendersonville TN (Nov 2018). We were the only customers in the store. As I walked towards him I kept thinking "I know this man!" Getting closer we exchanged greetings as men our age do. I kept shopping and trying to place his face. Then it dawned on me, "John Conlee, saw him in concert Omaha in the 80's". As I turned the corner to get cat food there he was looking at me. "You know," I said, "you sure look like John Conlee". Well, he looked down, up, and then at me and smiled "That's because I am John Conlee". I'm not the crazy fan type. I told him how much I loved his music, and he said thank you and we shook hands. No autograph or selfie, and I think he appreciated that I recognized him and didn't want all the hoopla. That made my birthday and retirement so special. He's always been the gentleman. He lives in the area.
I still love this as much as the first time I heard it!!! Saw him do this live back in the day , the stage was in the middle of a wrap around dance floor ., I two stepped around the dance floor while he did this song. Nobody does it better than Texas!
. . . not everything America does is something to be proud of - but for sure there is something America can be proud of: you can be proud of the countlessly beautifully voices of your singers - particulary in your country music! It´s unbelievable! Thank you and greetings from Germany . . .
. . . yes - no doubt! How many hundred years shall we look back? I am talking about the present! And in present almost everything America does is wrong!
Underrated is an understatement! I’ve been to lots of concerts, from the Stones, the Eagles, boring Alan Jackson. Mark Chesnutt’s concert was hands down THE BEST concert I’ve ever attended. Amazing entertainer, songwriter, singer! We love you Mark!
My dad and Mark grew up together, I remember all the times I got to hangout at his house and sit around and play guitar. When I say his music is what I believe pure country music is supposed to sound like, it's not me being biased. Thanks for all the great music Mark, wish we had more of it these days! Kyle Gallier.

It's like Loretta Lynn said its terrible to get rid of one type of music. Todays so called country is terrible. This is country at Its best. Lets keep it alive. Thanks Mark for the great country song.
Truth being told this song says it All thanks Mark even though I was a kid when you sang this song age 20 but after 23 years of marriage and getting divorce papers on our anniversary I truly appreciate your kind of singing it's awesome 👍
I've been capturing my Father's older country 45s, things I heard him play on the radio as a child and ran the other way from (after I'd somehow memorized lyrics - where the hell did That talent go). Now I'm getting into the groove of it and this does have the feel of a gentle, older country song, just shy of a whiskey in your hand. Good stuff - I'm working on Toby Keith right now, but I've added this to my special folder and will be looking for more Chesnutt materials shortly. Clint Black can just wait.
I live in Beaumont where Mark, Tracy Byrd, and Clay Walker are from and traditional country music is still alive. We even have deep roots around here George Jones too who lived all around the area. The radio DJ at the video is a local DJ, Gary Lee Love and is still going everyday. I'm thankful for our artist who keep old country going.

Very cool!
Glynn Knox that’s a great story!
I met him at a small county fair in Ohio. He has always been one of my favorite singers. He is definitely a "common man" and very graceful.
Come on, did he have them on? The rose colored glasses? 😁
How does Mark Chesnutt fit in?
Really love this song!! Love his voice always did. Recently re- visiting my favorite guys from the 90s. Marks voice is Soo smooth.
I still love this as much as the first time I heard it!!! Saw him do this live back in the day , the stage was in the middle of a wrap around dance floor ., I two stepped around the dance floor while he did this song. Nobody does it better than Texas!
I miss this beautiful style of country music. Absolutely wonderful.
Me as well today's shit sux !

. . . not everything America does is something to be proud of - but for sure there is something America can be proud of: you can be proud of the countlessly beautifully voices of your singers - particulary in your country music! It´s unbelievable! Thank you and greetings from Germany . . .
Damn, not everything Germany does is something to be proud of either. Especially between the years of 1929-1945.
. . . yes - no doubt! How many hundred years shall we look back? I am talking about the present! And in present almost everything America does is wrong!
Reminds me of my past

Mind your own business shithead
Manfred Sommer So mind your own Business and don't worry about America.
I can tell you one thing, you can take a few of these great artists from the 90's, go on tour and fill any stadium. Mark was definitely one of them.
More than once!!!!!!!! The good times are gone!!!!!!
Agreed! Saw him in Wyoming a few years back and he was still great!

@Mark chesnutt You’re such an awesome singer. Love your music.
This is exactly the kind of song that makes you realize how good country music used to be. I can't hardly listen to new country, the music just has no soul
Thanks for supporting my music 🎶 I’m so grateful 😘and I hope you never stop being a fan, I would like to honour you by giving you my personal information if that’s ok by you.❤️❤️
Totally! Love Mark Chestnutt, one of a kind, who should be up there with all the greats! I love my Alan, my George, my Randy etc, but its not right, that Mark doesn’t get that same recognition! This guy has the best, most beautiful, country voice, ever! Never sang a bad song! I’ve listened to them all over and over again! Cannot fault him! Come to the mainstream Mark! We love you!! XX🥰🥰🥰

Just seeing the mobile home makes me feel at home, none of that Nashville music video crap with 100,000 dollar trucks and mansions.. this song brings a tear to my eye
It's like Loretta Lynn said its terrible to get rid of one type of music. Todays so called country is terrible. This is country at Its best. Lets keep it alive. Thanks Mark for the great country song.
You're absolutely right..... good afternoon how are you doing over there it's a lovely day that the lord has made
Today's country isn't terrible, they just don't play it on the radio and you don't know where to find it.
Definitely a go to song to remember how real country was and I wish still was!
One of the most underrated singers in my opinion... he should have been a mega star
right
A very big AMEN!!!
He would of,but man there were just sooo damn many really good country singers at the time ,the list of them wouldn't fit on my arm.
He still is underrated!! Awesome performer!! Awesome voice!! Awesome guitar player!!!!
True

Made me smile
I live in Beaumont where Mark, Tracy Byrd, and Clay Walker are from and traditional country music is still alive. We even have deep roots around here George Jones too who lived all around the area. The radio DJ at the video is a local DJ, Gary Lee Love and is still going everyday. I'm thankful for our artist who keep old country going.
Back in the day when I lived in Port Arthur, my friends and I would always go to Cutter's and listen to him play. Good times.
@@stingraydelgadillo60 lol, I haven't heard of Cutter's in years, but I'm glad you got to cut loose at Cutter's because that was definitely the place to be back then. I still live here in S.E. Texas. Have a good evening. 🤝
@RayDelgadillo me too! Went to Marks birthday party at his home! It was a hell of a time! I miss Cutters!
Im in China Tx =)
Like I just recently posted though, the weatherman at the beginning acts like highs in the low 80's is Hell lol I'm from and have lived in Southwest and South Central Louisiana my whole life and Bruh, low 80's is tolerable!! 🤣🤣 It's when you get into the low 100's you start complaining now days!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome Richard! That was wonderful!
One of the best country musicians, a voice as pure as a mountain stream, and I love this song.
Still remember this song back then on radio stations. Awesome song. Enjoy his music though the years .
Kind started one of Steve Earle song on cassette tape, I never get out of here. But still remember all Mark Chestnut greatest hits Cd or on cassette tape. Played over millions of times. Amazing music artist.

Brings back so many memories of sitting around with my grandma and papaw watching country music videos on TNN 😢
I feel you 😢❤
What I liked about Mark was that the songs he recorded didn't have a lot of extra crap from the recording engineer. You actually got to hear his true voice...and what a voice!
One of the best country voices ever!
What a voice is very true
Very underappreciated. Well, except by me lol
Thats because mark among the rest of real singers didn't need autune aka autotune.

Always listen to mark. Beautiful voice . Real country
I've been listening to this song since I was a little girl. Every summer I find myself on here playing this song ❤😊
I've sang these songs all my life (35) and can say I never really understood these songs until now. Now, divorcing after 17 years together, I can relate more than ever.
I'm 20 years old and I love the older country music. The new stuff sucks this is country and this should be it nothing else no pop shit.
Agreed! Old country is just soo much better!
