Shame Daryl didn't playin the 70 or 80s. They would be talking about his voice like the do Gosdin or Jones. Unfortunately he hit in the mid-90s. Right as real country music was being abolished by Nashville. He was a breath of fresh air to those who value real country music. And one of the Kings as far as vocalists go
My dad played this on his Mandolin. He was born in 1911 and was a coal miner in Pennsylvania. He raised me on this kinda music and taught me to play the guitar when I was 5. We traveled every year on old route 66 and played together in the old bars. Thanks Pop, I miss you and thanks for the good ‘ol days ♥️
One of the most unrated voices EVER in country music. He could make you feel the music and that ability is lost in country music these days. Such a lost to the music world. By all accounts, cwas a really nice guy.
Me & my cousin saw him two years in a row in ohio. He was so down to earth & remembered us from the year before. And he sounded just as good in concert as he did on a cd or video! I love his version of this song but my favorite is his edition of Old Violin. He sings it just as good as Paycheck.
Omg what a voice . We lost Daryle way to soon so true One of the best and most underrated voices in Country Music Truly wanted to see this legend live, but sadly never had the chance. Definitely one of the greats he had such a lovely and beautiful voice 🎸🎵🎶🎤🎼💯💯💯💯💯💯😍😍😍😍😍😍💘💘💘💘💘💘💋💋💋💋💋💋😘😘😘😘😘😘🥰🥰🦊🥰🥰🥰🔥😋😋😋😋😋😋💜💓❤️💙💚💗😔🤣😇🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
It’s not often songs get covered and they are better than the original. But every cover DS has done either matched the original or was better 👍🏻. In this particular case DS version is the best version
Same. I was front row center bout 1998. Asked him to sing some Keith Whitley. They immediately went into My Amy Miami. Was awesome. Same with Mark Chesnutt round 97. Handed him a beer and asked him to play Waylon. Turned up the bottle of beer I gave him. Threw it backwards underhand right to the kick drum. Then yelled "DO Waylon. " Then they went into Rainy day woman. True story. Those were my best days. Great times.
I miss him so much! D was the REAL deal and a huge inspiration to me and my career. I have and will ALWAYS keep it raw traditional country as long as I live and perform. RIP D you are missed
My mother in law catered his wedding here in comanche Texas, he married a girl from gustine named Carrie Harvick. My son in laws cousin. He was extremely kind and polite
The guy who yelled “that’s country” is all of us when the pedal steel hits
