@@KellenRae Another tip, when you make your hoard base in a POI, the tier of the POI effects the loot stage of the zombies during blood moon. So if you are using a tier 3 POI, in the forest, you will get better drops from the blood moon zombies than you would if you built your hoard base outside of any POI. Hopes this helps.

Good stuff. I played with a controller and keyboard. Both hot keys are a must for fast Looting, makes night runs way safer. I never used the land claim on solo runs. The green beacons would be helpful. 😊
@@KellenRae Plus you can have up to three land claim blocks active at the same time. Good if you have a large map with multiple bases dotted around the world, or if you start transferring from one biome to another but don't want your old base getting respawns while moving.
On PS5, the same but it's hold Triangle and press the correlating action on the d pad. Also, clicking in on the left joystick will move all... pretty handy for a quick collect in hazardous situations.
Flat tv boxes from mo powers you can wrench for plastic and electronic components, paper pallet are a nice source of xp, some poi have a natural farm block that you can use, tires are the best source of plastics you can also chop car seat for plastic, Blinds are a good source of plastic or cloth, scrap office chair for 6 leathers. For me the best poi for a base is Ransacked Shotgun Messiah, it's located in urban area, is made of concrete, has room for vehicles after you clear the floor, big flat roof for farm plots and dew collectors, has 4 vending machines and if you're lucky some of them will be working, the only problem is the concrete stairs that you need to destroy.
I'll have to keep an eye out for that place. The vending machines sound great and i do like to put farm plots on the roof most times. I usually don't have many vehicles (can only drive one at a time!) so I keep them in my pocket. Thanks for letting us know!
Veey good tips! My favorite POI to set up a home base is at the liquor drive through as well. It's nice and uniform, so I built two more floors on top, then used the bottom for my mushroom farm and excess crafting stations. Set up farm at the top floor, and built a side for the dew collectors (needed so many of them in 21.x). Was my favorite base I ever created, and if I find it again early enough, I will do it in 1.x. One tip I will offer is for new characters to loot evety nest you see. Not only for the feathers, but for the eggs. You will find a LOT of them, and they can be eaten raw without any negatives. I find this best instead of charred meat, or roasted corn which depletes your water, and since it can be difficult to find potable drink at the start of the game, I'd rather pinch every point. 3000hrs in the game, I use most of the keyboard shortcuts. However, I notice most who use the click controls more so than than keybinds, are a little newer to the game. I know when I first started playing, I was doing the same. I still prefer to drag things I want to discard, but I kinda do it so quickly and precisely, it's like a flick. But I mean, that's after pretty much burning into my neurons at this point 😂
Mushroom Farm! I love it! And I agree about the nests. The feathers go into a constant loop of arrow crafting, and, for me, those arrows kill any animal I come across so I can make Bacon and Eggs as soon as I get a grill. 🥓🍳
@@KellenRae exactly! Eggs seem to be way more plentiful for me now than in any alpha before. I usually have way too many now, especially if it's on a solo game. If I am on a shared game, I am giving them away lol! Bacon and eggs has always been the standard food after maybe level 10 or so. Otherwise, I am just spamming raw eggs 😂 And yes, I had a whole wall, and the pillars planted with mushrooms! I knocked out all the walls, and flattened the floor in that POI over time. It was a really convenient place to set down in.
Honey drops much better at night and in the north portion edge of the green forest area, they drop like hotcakes. After a while that doesnt matter because you then make your own antibiotics. Also polymers come from tires too and there are tires everywhere, especially at a mechanic store. if you need cloth, Attack an entire outdoor tent.
I'll have to check on the night honey thing. I'm not one of those people that just hangs out in their base at night, I'm usually creeping around looking for shit to pick up, collect, etc. Also stripping an entire house of it's curtains and beds/mattresses is good for cloth. Good tips, thanks!
@@KellenRae yea i found north of the Rekt Trader on the border of burnt forest. But still in the regular forest. That whole north area by the border is flooded with stumps. When I went at night there the drop rate was insane compared to every other place I had been. I tried during the day in so many places and my drop rate is abysmal. Sometimes 1/15 or so. I was getting them 1/2, 1/3 at night at that place. Picked up like 14 honey in one night. Did it another time, same thing, good rate. Then I got antibiotics so doesnt matter now. Peace
That's an interesting thought that I hadn't considered. I guess i just don't watch gaming videos to learn all the intricate game mechanics and if I did I'd search specifically for "how to..." I also wouldn't expect a casual gameplay video to care if I caught/noticed the specific actions they're doing.
Yeah, most of them probably aren't thinking about it that much. The shortcuts do save a lot of messing around though. Have you considered recommending that people should use them more? (joking)
Here's the best way to go with 7dtd 1. Hit escape, exit game and uninstall. 2. Buy and install project zomboid. I actually do like 7dtd and I was being funny. I wish there was an easy way to mod it though to have it have crowds like zomboid and have you be just as vulnerable as zomboid for the fear factor.
@@KellenRae There really is something special about the sun setting, your character is tired and exhausted, the only thing that can fix it is a good night's sleep, but a safe bed is hard to come by. Thats something else i would love modded into 7dtd, if your character had a diminishing wakefullness pool that made it harder to rebuild stamina till you slept.
The keyboard shortcuts is a good tip, mostly because I think people just don't know they can use the shortcut keys. TBH it took me more than a year playing probably around 1500 hours before I realized I could do that, total game changer too. And dang you don't have yell at me about it. haha jk. cool video
I read that water collectors attract Screamers. This seemed to hold true for me as i had two water collectors at my base and i would get Feral Screamers all the time. (I was in the Burnt Lands) It was terrible!
@@GHOSTDOG58 yep. @kraevgames is correct. Wouldn't think a water collector would create heat, but they do. The whole heat system is so complex for something that isn't really talked about much. But water is essential, so I guess Screamers are as well!
It pains me that you ignored that tire when you were gathering plastic. Tires and certain kinds of blinds are good sources for plastic, and cloth curtains and tents are great sources of cloth which is kind of scarce now that you can't just scrap random clothing. Otherwise, good video 👌

Thanks for the video. For whatever reason the zombies on my roof spawn every week. I have a land claim block that covers the entire building. Do you or anyone else have that issue? I’m at the High School.
Console or PC? If console, try putting down a bedroll. Also, try replacing the roof with player made blocks (concrete if you can, for durability). It used to be that they won't spawn on player made blocks.... Will have to science that! If your base has a lot of heat being produced, might want to spread that out. And during the alphas, land claim doesn't stop spawn during blood moon. I always spend horde night well away from my home base. I'm sure you know most of this, just throwing out anything I can think of.
You can change the keyboard commands to whatever you want, personally I disable the scrap, build and use keyboard commands because I constantly kept building things I didn't want to by hitting the w key before the escape key while in the building menu but that is a me problem. I have always changed the keyboard commands so that every game is the same, so any problems with hitting the wrong button is my fault and in emergency situations, muscle memory can take over. The best advice is to just have fun because that is what games are all about, so adjust the difficulty to whatever you find is enjoyable and don't care what others think.
Yes!! I've crafted several items unintentionally before by accidentally pressing the W key when moving my hand to escape out of the window. And yes, I'm a firm believer in changing the game so you can enjoy it more. This might be in my next video.
@KellenRae I was a paid game tester and a professional gamer but the stress of having to be perfect all the time took away from the fun of gaming. I now just play for the fun of it and the escape from reality that games create. Life is to short to take it seriously so just have fun because nothing else truly matters.
@KellenRae playing games allows you to do things that are not possible in your real life, I can be a pilot, tank commander/driver, a mythical hero, an astronaut, a city planner/governor, a general or the survivor of an apocalypse. While in real life, I am on a disability pension and basically housebound with no one to talk to outside the limitations of the internet.

I play console I'm on ps5 it's go over the item. Hold triangle, ans use the directional buttons/d pad left is use, right is scrap, up is take or equip. Depending. Down is drop
@@KellenRae Plug a controller into the pc version, then Options > Controller > On. It even turns the keys to joypad prompts. I still prefer mouse as it's what I'm used to.

There's probably going to be way more console players for this game in the very near future. Console is better because the game works right all the time. PC players have to have the latest and greatest PC to play, from what I've heard. As far as using and taking items, yes that's a thing in the console version. I just leave items I don't want. What's the point in dropping items from a car that you don't want ?
I can understand that. However, in my experience, if it's something that I absolutely don't want and ever will, I drop it. Leaving it in the container makes the container seem like it wasn't looted because it doesn't say "Empty brown sedan." I hate opening it to find that item I don't want. But it would speed up looting.
My PC barely meets the minimum requirements for 7dtd. It looks and plays great. People just don't seem to understand how settings work, and think they can play on epic settings without the necessary hardware. Then they complain when they don't get 60 fps. If you play on a public server, never leave stuff in loot containers. You'll annoy everyone.

I thought it was tree stumps not in poi and the ones in poi's had worse drop. Also I find they drop muchhhh better at night.

Screamers spawn when your heat level gets to a certain percent. Dew collectors raise heat steadily.

You can get a lot of plastic from chopping up the plastic trash that lays on the ground. I play on playstation 5.

Ring finger on A is proper keyboard form. 'asdf' 'jkl:' without pinkies is the classically trained way to type.

I can understand that. However, in my experience, if it's something that I absolutely don't want and ever will, I drop it. Leaving it in the container makes the container seem like it wasn't looted because it doesn't say "Empty brown sedan." I hate opening it to find that item I don't want. But it would speed up looting.
I'm playing this game on a 7 year old laptop that doesn't even have a dedicated graphics card. Sure it looks like ass, but it's smooth.
My PC barely meets the minimum requirements for 7dtd. It looks and plays great. People just don't seem to understand how settings work, and think they can play on epic settings without the necessary hardware. Then they complain when they don't get 60 fps.
If you play on a public server, never leave stuff in loot containers. You'll annoy everyone.
