  • This video is part of a playlist. I started working on this home back in April and posted a few videos of the progress that was made in the home. This home had issues with carpet beetles and pantry moths. After cleaning up the kitchen, living room, her son's room, and three bathrooms, I left there thinking things were under control and that she was making good progress on her own, and she was, so it was a surprise to me when I texted her a few weeks ago just to see how things were coming along and this was the response I got:
    "We have gotten a little bit more done at the house, but not as much as I would like. I've had some health issues comes up that have made it harder for me to clean and honestly my anxiety has made it hard, too. My neck has been hurting since early this year and at some point it became so painful that I couldn't turn my head which made it hard to drive or do much of anything. I went and got an MRI and have a few things going on in my cervical spine that are causing nerve pain and they're wanting me to get injections that will help with the pain and potentially help with the inflammation and, if that doesn't relieve the pain, I might have to get surgery. On top of that, my husband and I have been wanting to get pregnant, but haven't been able to due to my latest test showing positive for polyps in my uterus (this is the second time), so I will have to get surgery to remove the polyps either later this month or next month. Anyway, all of it has been too much, so I haven't been doing much, But I started feeling like there's more to my struggle to get this house clean. I have some pretty bad memories there with my ex-husband." -- then she goes on and tells about the abuse, which I told her I would leave out the details -- "I think the longer I've been staying away from that house, the more I've felt like I could never go back and I keep thinking it's just because of the bugs, but I think it's also because of the PTSD associated with my ex-husband. So, this past week, we started looking at houses and we're strongly considering selling our house. However, that still means we need to clean our house so, if we find somewhere we'd like to go, we're gonna have a big push to move everything to storage pretty quickly."

    Great job on the assistance to this homeowner. As for the prom dresses, see if there is a place called The Glass Slipper project in a city near you. They take used prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, shoes, jewelry and give it to some of the high school kids that cannot afford a brand new dress.

    I’m truly glad she has you helping her with the home. I wanna say something to her. If she sees this. If not maybe you can tell her for me. I want her to know I’m proud of her for divorcing her abuser. She is a strong woman and did the right thing for herself and her child. My mother stayed. She’s still with him and we are all grown. He stopped hitting her when I hit my teens. It truly messed all of us kids up. We had some serious therapy to learn how proper relationships work etc. She’s a saint and I wish I could hug her. New beginnings are on the horizon. Stay strong. ❤

      Thank you so much for posting this. I don't think she really reads the comments anymore after there were a couple of not so nice ones and I told her just to not worry about reading them. So I will definitely pass this along. I agree, it can really mess up, not only the spouse being abused, but also the kids that are seeing that behavior. I'm glad you were able to get therapy to figure out how a good relationship is supposed to look! It's definitely very brave when somebody can actually leave their abuser.

Perhaps some acupuncture on the Heart points might help. I practised Five Element acupuncture and this system would use Heart points. Not sure what TCM or Japanese acupuncturists would do.

    You asked about what to do with high school dresses, prom dresses after they have been worn-suggestion: in many communities, there is an organization- in ours it is the local teachers' union- where the dresses and male formal wear can be donated! There are seamstresses/tailors and dry cleaners who help with getting the fit right and the spots out before wearing. Students can quietly and privately pursue a dress or tux this way via their school office and qualify usually due to indigent circumstances although I have seen some dresses "awarded" in other situations. It varies a bit. My wedding dress was used for this purpose and I have never been sorry. Feel it got to serve another woman (girl) and have another "life" of usefulness, rather than stay in my closet. Hope this is helpful.

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, we do try whatever we can. It never used to be a big deal because it was just part of who he was and we fully accept him that way. If it wasn't for the fact that it holds him back from doing some of the things he really wants to do after he graduates this upcoming year, I wouldn't be so worried about it because it makes him pretty endearing, but he just met with a recruiter from the Space Force because he eventually wants to work for NASA and the recruiter said he would have a hard time passing the interview with his stutter. That made me a little furious as a mom because the things that he wants to do for Space Force doesn't require that he speak that much. It's not like he is trying to be an air traffic controller for heaven's sakes! Anyway, just don't want it to hold him back in any capacity, so praying we find something to help him. I was reading about different drug therapies for stuttering, without much success in my search. Can your son sing without troubles. Sometimes people are able to add a rhythm/song to their speech to help. When my mom was working in a stroke rehab section of our hospital, she was amazed to see non-verbal people were able to sing. I’m not one to throw a pill at things, but he’s not my child. 💙

      My oldest son had a stuttering problem. He wears glasses and did eye therapy. It helped him a lot. He still stutters from time to time but way better than he was.
      The eye Dr told him to Google eye therapy for stuttering. He did this for some time. Made a big difference.

    • @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp
      @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Holly, yes, though he doesn't sing much now, I used to make him sing or talk in kind of a sing-songy type voice when he was a lot younger and he wouldn't stutter, but as he has gotten older, he "feels weird" doing that, but it is pretty amazing that it goes away when stutterers sing. I have seen that same phenomenon with stroke patients. It's pretty incredible. I don't like to throw a pill at things either, but we have tried all of the normal therapies and even some alternative ones. The ketamine therapy is not like a daily thing you do, but more of a drug that puts you in a relaxed state (almost as if you are hypnotized) and a therapist guides you through some steps to help usually with anxiety or depression, but I just wondered if anyone had tried it for anything other than those two things. I'm actually more interested in psilocybin treatment (mushrooms), but more research needs to be done in that area before I would want him to try that.
      Misty, I think the eye therapy you are talking about is very similar to what we have tried at a place called Brain Rehab and it seemed to help a little bit and he still keeps up with the exercises, but now it seems to be getting worse again, so it may be worth going back for more treatment. It stinks that insurance doesn't pay for treatments like that and those treatments get expensive, but of course we will do anything for him to help get rid of this stutter as it is starting to hold him back in some areas as he wants to be part of the Space Force and they told him that it would be hard for him to pass the interview with his stutter.

      Thank you, Karen! That's so nice of you to want to come and help! Maybe you could throw it out there on your local social media that you want to do a free cleaning, but put stipulations as to what you are comfortable with, of course. Even just a couple of hours can help tremendously for someone just needing a little lift.😊
      And that's definitely interesting about the Effexor. I have thought about doing something like that, but there is one other treatment, besides possibly the ketamine therapy still, that we are looking into first and, if that doesn't help, it may be worth a try. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Are there carpet beetles in the closet? If she hasn't been in the closet for a decade, where are the clothes she wears currently? You're so awesome to help! Best of luck with your son.

      @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're right, I could be better about explaining what is going on. I basically took everything out and spread it out on her bed for her to go through and decide what was trash, what we needed to wash to donate and what we needed to wash and keep. For those things like the dresses that we couldn't really wash, we did sprinkle borax on them to kill any remaining carpet beetles, though anything we did find was dead. And, she is not actually currently living at this house and hasn't been for quite some time. She is living with her parents and so that's where all of her current clothes are.

    As I'm watching this video I also borrowed a dress for the 1 prom I went to. I borrowed my wedding dress also. . I did make a pink cummerbund and decorated my white had with tulle and a pink & pearl band. The dress was a plain white dress made of cotton. No need to pay a dry cleaner to clean the dress and store it for whatever. I have taken some of my dressy dresses to a local high school for girls that are not able to afford a dress for the prom or homecoming. They were classic black so not an old ladies dress! cleaner to clean the dress and store it for whatever. A friend of mine has undergone ketamine therapy for anxiety and PTSD. It was helpful for her.
    Both my grandsons are soon to graduate from speech therapy after about 8 years of it, one of whom had a stutter among other things. I’m not certain if stuttering can be caused in part by anxiety, etc., but I think that ketamine therapy can open new neural pathways, which seems to me would be useful in retraining speech. I’m certainly no doctor, but I don’t believe it could hurt, and it might help. Best of luck to him ( and to your whole very cute family - enjoy the retreat)!

I think ketamine therapy is probably the next best thing. Thanks again for your input!

    My deceased husband had a very bad stutter. He couldn’t talk on the phone and had a very hard time getting out certain words. He went through years of therapy that helped some but what helped him the most was the people who knew him and gave him the time to talk. Often he had to change a word to get through a sentence. I guess what I am saying is the more someone tried to change him the harder it was for him. Unconditional love and respect for who he was seemed to be his best therapy. He was actually a savant in that he could take any mathematical equation and solve it easily in his mind instantly. Getting into his mind gave him super confidence and he didn’t stutter.

    • @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp
      @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally agree with you that giving them space and time to just get out what they need to say helps a lot. We have always been very patient with him and don't try to finish his sentences. And it never really used to bother him that much, but now that he is wanting to go into the space force and work for NASA at some point, the Space Force recruiter basically told him that, unless he was able to get rid of his stutter, he probably wouldn't pass the interview to get into the space force. That was really disheartening. Fortunately, he's a very positive kid and is looking at other routes to get to where he wants to be with his future career. But, we also are just looking to see what other options are out there that might be able to help him.

I was kind of angry that he told him that actually because I think, for what he wants to do, his speech shouldn't be an issue. @@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp I came across your video of you organizing a scrapbookers room and then I went over to your channel and watched your videos and found out what it is that you do and when I found out what it is that you do I cried because I wish I came across your channel 2 years ago. I have bipolar depression with occasional manic episodes, ADHD , anxiety and panic attacks when something out of my control happens or I’m overwhelmed with worry over something that hasn’t even happened. I’m 41 and I was diagnosed at 37. My husband was my home, caretaker, provider, cook, my family and my best friend just to name a few. Then March 13, 2022 he passed in his sleep from a heart attack. After his services, everyone disappeared from my life because he was the only connection. The so called friends that said they’d help me with whatever I needed never came. I became depressed, disconnected from my 2 English bulldogs and stopped taking care of them besides feedings and the bare necessities. I was in a very dark place and then one year later I had an infestation outbreak of carpet beetles and burrowing termites out of no where throughout my entire 2 level condo and I had laryngitis so I texted my family, my husbands family, and those friends that said they’d come to help and never did. So I was alone and just had the sense to rush and bag up everything and threw out so much out feeling I had no time to go thru first, I didn’t have anyone to help me go through all the bags to make sure I was t getting rid off important clothes especially the shirts and sweaters from each state we traveled to and went to a baseball game which was our tradition for 15 years. I had a hauler with a 18foot trailer take all the bags and furniture that I felt were destroyed, I was alone with no one to be there to check each bag to make sure it wasn’t a bag with stuff I wanted to keep. The life my husband and I lived for over 15 years was hauled away. And I dealt with the cleaning and the exterminators, boarded my dogs for 3 weeks I stayed in a hotel going back and forth to clean, this went on for months until I had heat treatment done last May 2023. 2 weeks later, the hill I live next to collapsed against my wall where my front door is and muddy water flooded some in my garage and through the bottom of my front door. I was going thru all this with no help. Everyone night I was in my garage going thru 43 years of my husbands life alone, crying over every picture, plane ticket, graduation video, his first car paperwork and so so so much more , so many bins and bags and boxes of his personal things he just accumulated and brought with him from home to home and ended up stored in our garage in our first condo we bought together. Then the repairs started then I went back to work this year so I still have not had time for myself or time to properly grieve and still have so much left to do. So when I watched your videos and cried going back to those memories wishing I found your channel sooner or had someone like you I could reach out to for help. Not only do I relate to a lot of the people you help, you doing this for them for free just struck that nerve and I would have flown you out to help me and pay you for your help. And watching you do most of the work alone is just amazing and I appreciate what you do for people like me that can easily get into those situations they don’t mean to do on purpose, it just starts with not doing one thing and before we know, it’s taken over our home and life. I hope you get more donations to keep helping people for as long as you can. I kept wishing I could just leave and have someone or service clean organize and do everything for me and come home with everything clean and organized for me. And that’s what you do. So keep doing what you’re doing love. God bless you and your family! ❤️🙏🏻

      I wept while reading this. I am truly sorry for all that you've experienced. Just one of those incidents (or diagnoses) is more than enough for one person to handle, let alone all of them...and within such close proximity to each other. I'm very sorry you were basically abandoned by everyone in your greatest time of need. I always wonder about that kind of stuff and wonder if people just don't know what to say and so they turn a blind eye to the whole situation, thinking "someone else will take care of it." I know I find it hard to know what to say when something extremely tragic like you've described happens, but the fact that no one would help even when you asked for it really hurts my heart. That's so awful you have had to go through this all on your own.
      I don't know if you are religious and I'm not even sure why I'm bringing this up other than the fact that I know how much having knowledge of the gospel and my Savior brings me so much peace. It's actually the main reason I started this channel was to try to help my "brothers and sisters" by being His hands here on Earth and it's sort of my way of thanking him for all I have been blessed with. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, more commonly known as "Mormon." We get a bad wrap sometimes because people don't take the time to understand what we really believe and think it's some sort of cult or something. I am not going to go into all the ins and outs of the church here, that would take too long, but one thing I really love about my church community is that we all look out for each other. We actually have an organization of the women of the church called the Relief Society, and one of the main focuses of this organization is to make sure we are ministering to those around us and giving them assistance when needed. Service is a HUGE part of our church and we often have service projects we do for neighbors or charities. I don't really talk about my religion on my channel other than telling people I'm Christian, but I do try to be an example of a good Christian and hope that when people do find out I'm "one of those Mormons," they will see that we aren't crazy (although there are always those outliers who take things too far and get a little whacko -- Ruby Franke, Jodi Hildebrandt, Lori Vallow Daybell, Tim Ballard), we aren't part of a cult, but we are just trying to live our lives as disciples of Christ.
      I hope sharing that doesn't scare you off. If so, ignore that part of this comment...LOL! I just wanted you to know that I have found so much peace and happiness living the principles of the gospel. It is a worldwide church and I guarantee there are missionaries wherever you live if you ever wanted to learn more about it. When you shared that you were abandoned by everyone, I just couldn't help but think about my church community and how much we all take care of one another. You would have had the Relief Society Sisters there to help you in a heartbeat because that's just part of what we believe we need to do is to look out for everyone. BTW, you don't even need to be a member. We have done service projects for people who aren't members of our church. However, when we aren't seeing those people at church every week and don't know as much about them, it is hard to know if something is amiss, but if you contacted a local LDS Bishop, he could get the Relief Society involved...if you ever needed help with something again. It sounds like you might have it under control now.
      Sorry. That was probably way more than you bargained for in a reply comment. I really wouldn't be offended if you never responded to this or just said, "Thanks, but no thanks." I just felt a need to share that with you for whatever reason.
      Again, thank you for your very generous donation and for sharing your experiences. Life can really be rough sometimes, but I know with every trial, we also have the opportunity to have amazing personal growth from it and learn empathy and compassion for others along the way. Sounds like you already have.
      You are always welcome to email me if you wanted to chat some more. My email is btashdown@gmail.com.
      Take care!🙏😘

      Thank you Bonnie for your words of support and encouragement. And sharing the religious part of your life outside of TH-cam - and I have or had Mormon friends ❤ I grew up catholic and once my grandma passed when I was 24 - she was the glue that kept my family together and committed to the church and its community. When my husband passed I joined a grief share group which is a christian group but they don’t push the religious portions on people but it really helped me and still helping me and it’s like learning that faith all over again but as an adult and now understanding the lessons and what they mean. So I’ve been adding baby steps of religion back in my life and practicing on my own outside my grief share group so far. I hope one day I can make it back to church and the church my husband dad belonged to and just like me, his dad was the one that was strict about being part of the church- also catholic, and its community so when his dad passed when my husband was 13 his family quit the church. My husband had his dad’s cross I found in his things I found one day about 8 years ago. I didn’t know what to give him for Xmas so I bought a chain for it and gave it to him to wear. He wore it until the day he passed. Now I wear it everyday and it brings me comfort that both my husband and god are always with me ✝️❤
      Everyday is different, emotionally, physically and or mentally and it’s a struggle to do the simplest things and I have to learn to do them again and taken on more responsibilities that my husband always took care of which was pretty much everything. I just pray and hope to one day have some peace and balance and time to myself to finally process everything I’ve gone through these past 2 years and grieve all that I’ve lost🙏🏻
      Thank you again Bonnie for responding back and your understanding people like me and all you do to help them and it is always nice to know there are a lot of us and that you’ve gone through your own experiences along with your husband. It makes the depression part of life feel less shameful ❤
      And thank you for letting me know I can email you to chat 🙏🏻❤️
      I look forward to more videos!!!
      Stay well❤

    I was an abuse victim for 3 marriages. A therapist told me that sometimes happens when people observe a father abusing a mother(which was my case) and they are used to the dynamics of that relationship and don't notice during courtship when a prospective spouse have those behaviors. The answer is to stop having a victim mentality, wanting sympathy for what a person has been through. Use the abuse as a tool for learning what attracted you to the abuse. Avoid it and should the need arise again stand against it. Prayer really helps.

    Great video again, thank you. Regarding stuttering and Ketamine, Ketamine is a drug that is used recreational in the UK. I’m not sure I would want to allow a teenager to use it, as it can be abused, and can provide an emotional blocker.

    • @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp
      @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Right, I understand the potential for abuse. With my husband being in forensics and having talked to our kids a countless number of times about the dangers of different drugs, etc., this is something I don't take lightly. In this kind of therapy, it is a very controlled environment and not something where they just give you a prescription for a lot of ketamine, but it's use in this kind of therapy is to relax the patient enough to where they are in a more suggestible state and can access those parts of the brain that control different functions. It's mainly used for depression and anxiety, but I have heard of people using it to treat other kinds of brain dysfunctions. If it was something where they were just giving him a prescription of ketamine, for sure that would not even be a consideration.

    I would add some Diatomaceous Earth with the Borax. No need to repack just lift the lid a bit and use a puffer.

      I would have just added the borax to the stuff in the tote, but it needed to be repacked so that I could put some cloth in between the breakable items. It wasn't originally packed to be moved, more just to get out of the cupboards so that they could be thoroughly wiped down. That's the only reason I repacked it. Otherwise, you're right, I would have just added it as is.❤️😊

      We have decided we are all going to record our own videos (plus we will have a videographer there from Business Insider, so A LOT of cameras) and then we will each do our own videos with our own spin. I'm not sure if they will all come out at the same time or not. I'm guessing Mack will have his out first since he seems to edit his in record time and he can do voiceovers with no problem where I have to really plan mine out and have to record, re-record, re-record about a thousand times before I get it to sound not so dumb! LOL!

    I've tried ketamine. I hated the taste. I have had success with lamictal (lamotrigine) for depression and memory issues. This helps me big time. Depression, anxiety, autism, cancer, dementia, and many more diseases are from brain inflammation. I go to a psychologist/ neurologist who has helped me. You have to be careful with lamictal you can have an allergic reaction too.

He also has social anxiety and until I came along, no one ever insisted that he get treatment. A combination of psychological therapy and the meds have helped ENORMOUSLY. And he doesn't stutter unless he's in high stress situations and even more rarely around me. It's a long story but it is what it is.

There are other cases, the therapist teaches to think before speack, give him the tools he need. I stoped at 24.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤, ignore it at home.
