I used to have a hood fan that had 2 filters. The inner one was a charcoal filter and the outer one was just kind of a cover. I always cleaned ours in the dishwasher and they would come out sparkling. They need to drain and dry for quite a while before you can reinsert in the hood. Whatever works

Comet!!! Yes!!! I used Comet as a child, when it was my turn for kitchen clean up. Also for heavy duty bathroom clean up. Comet has been on the job for over 50 years!

I have OCD when it comes to cleaning; everything has to be spotless and in it’s proper place, and I live alone, since my husband died; just me and my dog Otis..so I can relate on the opposite end of the spectrum. Schizophrenia is a very sad mental illness. My sweet Mama suffered from it and severe depression. She eventually took her own life. She tried a few times. It affects the whole family. My Daddy had a hard time dealing with it and would end up drinking to try to cope, so my little brother and I were left to our own alot. She was very loving but just sooo sad.
This truly breaks my heart.😞 I think it is by far the saddest of all the mental illnesses as, you're right, it does affect the whole family. I'm so sorry for what you have been through and hope that you got some therapy to deal with the trauma of that.🙏
Yes, apparently that extra range hood filter was an additional charcoal filter which can be added to certain styles of range hoods for enhanced air cleansing and energy efficiency. Bit late now, but based upon what I read, they should be rubbed clean with a microfiber cloth at most, and apparently NEVER washed but simply replaced when necessary. Oh well, we both now know for next time. This is the first I've come across your channel and I appreciate that it is one of so few that actually tackles real dirt, grime and clutter in a way that gives hope and motivation to anyone feeling slightly overwhelmed by their environment. Well done.

Haha Bonnie, you need a sweatband for your head sweat. I have like 20 of them in a baggie in my kitchen drawer. They help me a lot to stay comfortable and not feel as gross while I clean or do a project. As for the stove hood filters, I throw mine in the dishwasher with a bunch of detergent. Thanks for a great video and for being a great example of professionalism and compassion towards this family. I hope they are healing and doing better.

Dry baking soda on a damp sponge works great at removing dried gunk of toasters and stovetops, and it doesn't scratch. I used OxiClean for my vent filter over my stove, and it worked immediately -- just like on the commercial. Btw, you still look like you're in your twenties. Amazing.

Yes, I would probably be better off doing something like Mack does and just make my own APC and then use just a handful of other cleaners. I'm sure it will boil down to that, but when the homeowner has a product I haven't tried yet, I always want to at least try it out just to see if I like it any better. So far, with the degreasers, I feel like they all work pretty similarly, though Super Clean may edge the others out just a bit. And you're right about being an introvert and there being less drama, for sure. We have a pretty quiet household, so when I clean at a house where it's pretty loud, it can be a bit jarring for me and I just have to tell myself, "you can do this, you can do this..." LOL! When my father passed, I cleaned his stove's grease filters with Easy Off Cleaner Degreaser ... Unlike the aerosol type for ovens, this liquid spray does not choke me and works well on greasy items - - Can't wait to see the other half of this
9:54 I too, have had long covid, also dubbed Post Acute Covid Syndrome according to the health care field. I was put in a study, given specialized PT, and a medication, and it still took months to recover. I’m still not 100%, but the longer I go without getting it again, the better I feel, and the more I can do. I still have days where I can’t do hardly anything, or I wake up with debilitating headaches/migraines, or I do too much and don’t realize it so I’m down and napping for three days after. It is a real disability that isn’t protected by FMLA yet, so it can be devastating to those who can’t work.
I would love to know what the medication is they put you on to pass that information along to my friend who has long covid. You're right. It's absolutely a real disability and can be devastating for so many people. I am glad to know you have gotten some recovery with the PT and the medications.🙏❤️

About the grease filters, could it be that one was filled with active charcoal? It is supposed to decrease the odors. I know some range hoods have it when the don't let the smelly air outside of the house (via ducts) but return the (somewhat filtered) air back to the room.
Yes, that's what I'm hearing it likely is. And now I'm wondering why this is the first time I've seen something like this. It actually seems pretty useful to have in the kitchen area.

Amazing difference you made especially to the bathroom - it was so shiny! We have extremely hard water in our area so limescale is a constant challenge, I will have to get one of those pumice stones and see if that helps, my toilet is a disgrace! Tfs. 😊
My diy shower cleaner is 1 part Blue Dawn, 1 part Cleaning Vinegar and 1 part water, mixed and put into a spray bottle. I spray the shower and let sit for 5 minutes. A blue scrubby sponge will easily remove all soap scum.
So is that filter full of charcoal? Maybe to help “filter” whatever lol… also when i was a young mother, i had depression from living with an abusive husband and so i didn’t keep up my house very good, and one day my dad came to visit and i was feeling bad about the condition of the house and he said something that I’ve never forgotten to this day, he said that cleanliness is next to Godliness and that the spirit can’t dwell in unclean places. I took that how he meant it for me. That helped me get my mind in a different space so that i could do better for me and my kids. I’ll always be thankful for those words that i know was meant to help me. Maybe it’ll help someone else who wants the spirit to be able to be in their home. 💕

That's very strange. I don't hear it when I listen back to it, but I have noticed certain times on T.V., I can hear that whistling S sound you're talking about. I wonder if it's just at a certain volume. I'm glad there are subtitles though. 😊

About the grease filters, could it be that one was filled with active charcoal? It is supposed to decrease the odors. I know some range hoods have it when the don't let the smelly air outside of the house (via ducts) but return the (somewhat filtered) air back to the room.
Yes, that's what I'm hearing it likely is. And now I'm wondering why this is the first time I've seen something like this. It actually seems pretty useful to have in the kitchen area.

Thank you! I know he has already gotten rid of a bunch of stuff and is trying to get rid of more. Apparently his wife was a bit of a hoarder, but he was not, so he has been able to declutter a lot already. I'm sure that's hard to let go of some of those things though after a spouse passes. Amazing difference you made especially to the bathroom - it was so shiny! We have extremely hard water in our area so limescale is a constant challenge, I will have to get one of those pumice stones and see if that helps, my toilet is a disgrace! Tfs. 😊

My diy shower cleaner is 1 part Blue Dawn, 1 part Cleaning Vinegar and 1 part water, mixed and put into a spray bottle. I spray the shower and let sit for 5 minutes. A blue scrubby sponge will easily remove all soap scum.

So is that filter full of charcoal? Maybe to help “filter” whatever lol… also when i was a young mother, i had depression from living with an abusive husband and so i didn’t keep up my house very good, and one day my dad came to visit and i was feeling bad about the condition of the house and he said something that I’ve never forgotten to this day, he said that cleanliness is next to Godliness and that the spirit can’t dwell in unclean places. I took that how he meant it for me. That helped me get my mind in a different space so that i could do better for me and my kids. I’ll always be thankful for those words that i know was meant to help me. Maybe it’ll help someone else who wants the spirit to be able to be in their home. 💕

I love what you do to help these people and I so appreciate you filming it for us, but the voice recorder you use turns all of your S sounds into an uncomfortable whistle. I had to turn my volume off and watch with subtitles only :(

Nice job. Three cleaners to help us get motivated, wonderful news. I just wanted to add that I hope your not flushing sanitary wipes. They clog the sewer drains. They don't dissolve quick like paper. (Got a plumber because of it. My fault.)
It was actually paper towels, but apparently I shouldn't be flushing those either. Oops! I know better now.
