      I really do like the idea of making a design based off of playing cards. I was really into that too when I was in college years ago. One of the few things I’ve also always liked is how some designs on products and even in posters for example will have a sort of wild, grafiti look sometimes, or sometimes how some patterns on some materials will look like, like in carbon fiber. I remember how, ten years ago growing up, all the rage in design was all these grafiti backgrounds of characters that would pop up to mind would show up on posters, papers, etc.
      I’m getting sidetracked, but I really like how you’ve gained inspiration from playing cards, and implemented that into the design. It’s really neat, I like it a lot.

    Self-taught designer here: This was a good one! It's nice to see someone else going through the process. I've been struggling all week with logo design and its tough to remember that even professionals get stuck and work their way through long hours. As a new designer, I feel guilty billing time spent on ideas that don't come to fruition (and, in my opinion, suck) but this video is a nice reminder that "bad designs" are part of the process, leading to the good ones.

    • @Kanoog
      @Kanoog 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      As a fellow Sean here haha I've been doing this professionally for awhile now. What has always helped me when stuck. It's to do massive research and toss on a ton of ideas I like into Adobe Illustrator on a layer and use some elements I like from them to create my own unique logo / design. It's like putting together a outfit with a fully stocked closet in a way. This process great because you can see finished designs to also gain inspiration from while at the same time creating your new unique design.

    Loved seeing this, if you made another video like this, I don't think you'd need to spend more time working on it, but I would like to see more of the time you spent shown in the video. Or in other words, you spent a long time working on this logo redesign for this video, and I feel like there must have been a lot more content you worked on while making this that didn't get into the video, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing it. Always enjoy seeing your sketching and thought process in what you make it's definitely a great learning experience.

    Your presentation got my full attention coming into logo/icon design for the first time while attempting to design my signature + icon for my photographs. Your language and logic flowed freely in the absence of arty abstract nouns in favour of objective observations in the critical path to project completion. I have of course a thousand questions but just one for the moment: Do you use 'OneNote' or equivalent to keep track of your ideas and progress; if you do, then what are the main tabs on your folder?

    I think you should’ve gone for something a bit more complex, like with your ornamental elements. The final result doesn’t really represent “sexy” to me, which is what drip is supposed to mean. I personally think drip is not a good word to represent sexy fashion, but I’m not down with the slang nowadays. It would be cool to see an actual design brief that you would send to a client before beginning work on their logo.
