To All Who Have NOT Played Elden Ring

  • Elden Ring has been one of the best games I have ever played. I find myself eagerly anticipating each stream to continue the story and make progress. I should've played this one a long time ago and I had a lot of misconceptions about the game. Also I don't go over it in the video, but Elden Ring seems like a good starting point for the souls series to me because it feels a bit more forgiving than Dark Souls 3. Does that seem accurate to those who have played them all? I have not played Dark Souls 1 and 2 so don't take this bit of advice too seriously, just my half informed observation.
In this video I go over some of my favorite parts of the game at about 40 hours into the story. Hopefully if you also have not played the game, you can find some useful information in this video from someone who also was hesitant and hasn't played every Dark Souls game (although I fully intend to stream those now too).
If you enjoyed the video please give it a like and subscribe if you want to see more gaming videos and live streams. We are just picking up some steam and the journey to 1,000 subscribers has begun. I hope you have a great day and take care of yourself.

I remember your first few streams. Glad to see you're progressing and loving it. I'm at about 2300 hours in and I still love it. I take breaks when new games come out, but always come back to ER. Once you've beat it a few times, you'll want to come back and try beating it under different playstyles. Next time try strength build, then arcane, then dex, faith, etc. Also, the world is so vast, you can be 2300 hours in and not have seen everything. I just started using the online maps to see what I missed and I still find something new at least once a week. Then there's the subtleties, like learning that lightning spells do more damage in water, that fire does less when it rains, or that certain weapons will kill the resurrecting skeletons the first time around. Or that a certain spirit ash will mount any nearby wolves.

It is genuinely such an awesome game, the exploration aspect of just stumbling upon something and feeling the primal need to explore it, is such a fun feeling. Sure, the play through after the first will always be a much shorter (for me about 100 hours less), but getting to try out new builds or play styles, or doing challenges, will always be so fun. Have fun!

I always thought the souls series was too hard for me to enjoy and have never played them except for demon's souls because it was included in my ps+ subscription so I went into it just wanting to try it and had no thoughts on completing it. Then one day earlier this year I felt like it was time to give it a real shot. I knew how much people loved Elden ring and how the open world allows the player to "adjust" the difficulty level. Now I'm 100+ hours in and real close to the end. It has been hard and frustrating at times but I knew that going in. I thought epic hard boss fights wasn't my thing but I'm enjoying them more than I thought.

Awesome man! I'm only 40 hours in but I'm feeling this is going to be one of my all time favorites, and I didn't want to play it at first...so weird.

This game is killer, it’s not as hard as dark souls but it is hard, you will die a million times and roll a million more but it is an epic beautiful world which is truly astounding.

I don't think it's as difficult as dark souls 3 was either, but it's been a while 😅. I think im going to play dark souls 1 remaster after this.

During last summer/ autumn I completed DS triology and was excited to start ER, but dropped it after 5 hours due to exact same reason - after DS open world seemed to overwhelming without any direction or purpose. So I stepped back to take a break. Yesterday I finished 5th playthrough of Lords of the Fallen with Ironman challenge and bunch of other mods. Decided to try ER again after it and this morning got your video 😅
Thank you for good content and extra encouragement to start ER again!)

I too just started it. It was staying in my steam library for so long.
I also love DS3 and it is one of my favorite games of all time. And I love the linear design of its world more than the open world. I'm not saying the ER world is bad, it's fantastic, but it's a little overwhelming for me lol.

Try bloodborne now. It's a very aggressive in combat with things like no weight limit and the ability of hitting a enemy to get your life back. The story is basically a com combination of Marry Shelly and HP Lovecraft.

I don’t know why everyone refuses to mention bosses like the Fire Giant who are necessary to progress the story and insanely tedious to fight.
Not sure if it was my astrologer build but it ruined Elden Ring for me. I had to uninstall after weeks on that boss.
People at least deserve to be forewarned about stuff like that.

If you were locked on to him, there's your mistake. He is kind of bullshit, yes, but he gets much easier when you don't lock on and at first focus on his attacks to dodge them, get under him and hit his weak leg, his first phase is a cakewalk at that point. His second phase can be a bit trickier because he doesn't take bonus damage from the weak leg I think but it's pretty much the same thing. Unlock and stay behind and under him. He will pretty much never hit you unless you miss a fire attack coming at you.
All of his attacks are very easily dodgeable, but if you lock on you will have trouble seeing the attacks. So just don't lock on.

@@smky04 Oh yea casters will have a harder time fighting him because of the need to lock on to aim properly, but tbh, unless you really, REALLY want to be pure caster, I think every mage should have a magic scaling melee weapon, simply because it's much better and imo more fun. I'm glad you're enjoying the game, a lot of people will try the game and think it's bullshit before thinking that maybe they should try a different strategy and then just drop the game, which is a shame, but I noticed that there have a been quite a bit of new people trying And recommending the game now that the DLC is close to release, which Is awesome.
