I'm a comics fan. I can literally play this game for free at the moment thanks to PS+. I don't. Why? Because the game was advertised as X-Com but with superheroes. It is anything but that. In reality, it's a card game, and a pretty basic one, that essentially "animates" the cards. There is some very minor positioning involved, and that's as close as the game gets to being a tactics game. The filler in the middle with the made up character and the interactions is just that, filler. Thank God that when I went to purchase this at Gamestop when it released, I heard the $75 total and said nope. I was not aware that it was one of the games with the new "standard" pricing. @@justacheesecake6232 For me, the problem was feeling like you rush to the end, and there's never a point where you really reflect on your playthrough and all the choices you made. The Citadel Party DLC just really helped in that regards, and that's what I'm referencing. Ya, that final cutscene and the ultimate choice being made is booty. But with all the DLC I think it feels more like a true send off for your specific Shephard, and that's what I really wanted back in the day.
Jade Empire and Sudeki on the originals Xbox were cracking RPG' s. Also the Fable trilogy on the 360 and the Witcher 2 were bangers worth giving another go.
I've recently started playing Marvel's Midnight Suns like a few weeks ago and I love it. The game is my first strategy game in over a decade as well so, the fact that it's Marvel is what keeps me interested. Love learning about the characters and seeing the action happen.
As someone who has exclusively played Nintendo I’ve never played Fallout, and with the recent Fallout Magic the Gathering set and the streaming series it’s gotten me interested in the franchise. What is a good entry point game to play?
@Do-you-even-code-bro It's one of those situations where if you don't care about established Canon, especially since it's set in the same area as New Vegas, it's not horrible on its own. As usual, tho these producers make changes and have set up that doesn't match up with anything established. Also, the fact that they intentionally struck down many reviews for review bombing. I watched 1 episode along with the trailer, which had me concerned to begin with. Alot of the positive reviews I've come across start with "love the politics" and "never played the games, but it's good". All these things together paint the picture for me
I am pleasantly surprised that Ys VIII was so high up the list. I've been a fan of the Ys series for over a decade, but have played the games since the 90s. Yes, the series is that old, but really didn't get into the series until after they started redoing the games, starting with the remake of Ys III, as Ys: Oath of Felghana. YS VIII is definitely a strong entry in the franchise and, given the non-linear continuity of the games, takes place between Ys IV and Ys VI. The storytelling was extremely good, the battle system was a refinement of the remake of Ys IV known as Memories of Celceta, and the game shows the strength of the soundtrack. A fair number of remixes of many classic tracks, which are done frequently in the series but retuned slightly to fit the game, and some absolute bangers in the more original ones. I also agree with the Mass Effect Trilogy, I loved that series. And I really need to play the Legendary Edition to go through that again. It is space opera at its finest, with a large cast, a solid story that makes a lot of sense in the context of the lore, the science is internally consistent and is largely based off of actual existing science and theories (with the required handwave for FTL travel and communications, granted). The story is fairly simple at the start, but grows more complex as it progresses (though remaining internally consistent throughout).
True. I’ve run into some bugs with the Xbox version of LE. A common one is I’ll walk in one direction and the character is facing a different direction . It fixes itself after a while, but it takes me out of the game for a bit.
soulslike games are just hard games that some people think make them great. Regardless what you upgrade or do you'll get hit once and die. These type of games become a job rather than a game.
There's plenty of soulslike games that prevent you from going to certain areas until you progressed far enough in the story (i.e. until you leveled up enough). There will probably be a hidden boss somewhere early on that will one shot you, but the devs didn't put that boss there for the player to take it on that early. You're supposed to double back once you're stronger
Played it or not the games are clearly about challenge.. honestly its really comparing it to an outdoor roller coaster. People love it for the ride. Not for its story or theme but thr feeling they get from it given the danger. @RmTChannel
I've just started to play Fallout New Vegas for the first time. It is absolutely amazing. The amount of freedom and depth that this game offers is something I've never experienced before, not even in Breath of the Wild.

I loved Dragon Quest and played it completely. I don't know if it's a version thing or so, but after the initial credits, you can play the story from a slightly different viewpoint. It's great and nearly as long as the first part. I think I played Mass Effect from start to finish three times. The Legendary Edition last time, and I have to say the DLCs make the games even better. Planescape is on the list of games I have to replay, if I find the time. It's a terrific game.
I am glad you included new vegas. Just mod the shat out of new vegas, 72 mods all enhancing the vanilla features with a few texture mods. No major overhaul. Loving it more than any game I have played these past 2 - 3 years.

Eldin ring might be the best game I've ever played i thought after a year i might change my mind(recency bias)but i still have that sane opinion
@@laidbacksage2574 exactly and you know I have so much respect for this dev team! No micro transactions! No Battlepass crap! And tons and tons and tons of options for gameplay and exploration. I’ve never played a single player this detailed and addicting. This one and red dead 2 have to be my most favorite games ever
Always a great day when gameranx post notis hit my phone
I'm waiting for Ghost of Tsushima to release for PC on May 16th.
👍
Same
Really? I want to play that.
Same, super stoked to finally play it ! :D
It's good to go back and play older games. Thanks for the list.
It’s been mentioned on this channel a few times, but cyberpunk is one of my favorite games now that it’s been overhauled since launch. Excellent story, fun gameplay, and achievement hunting in it was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend
I just finished Midnight Suns, loved it!
Glad Ys 8 got mentioned. Absolutely brilliant game
Just gone back to the witcher 3 after all these years. Trying a deathmarch run - wish me luck!
Good for you....someone discovered a new Easter Egg BTW....after 9 years the game keeps giving.
@@flicka25 its one of my comfort games, along with the likes of skyrim and weirdly hitman where I can happily get lost in it
Is college football 2025 an RPG 💀😂
Technically yes and if it makes you happy then play on amigo 👍
Can’t wait for that game.
I just saw this comment before the video loaded.. im going to pass on even watching it now. Lol😂
Dynasty mode is😂
I would recommend Ni No Kuni (1) and Lost Odyssey if they even launch it on other platforms.
I agree! Both are amazing games!
I keep hoping they will release a Next Gen Bundle for Fallout 3 and NV. At least we're getting Fallout 4 Next Gen in less than two weeks!
I would settle for a working PC version of Fallout 3.
@@brandonwirtz2308 You too? I'd love to know what happened to that - I got it on Steam, and the damn thing just wouldn't start!
Ive been enjoying midnight suns, the combat gets suprisingly deep after you play for a while and its always giving your new characters, abilities and enemies. Its been added to the PlayStation+ catalog so you can play for free if you have that
Since Midnight Suns have shown up on PS Plus that's the only game I have been playing madly, and no other game could actually keep me this hooked since Ghost of Tsushima lol, I'm glad I found this gem that I'm loving gaming again.
Two games that are always worth getting back to are Diablo 1 and Dungeon Keeper. Timeless classics never go out of style.
New Vegas will never die.
I just started playing SmallLand it's a fun survival 👍
spoiler: new fallout show is great
It's on Amazon prime video if anyone was wondering
its not ❤
Thanks for ruining it for me
@@lil_sxrrxwIt is

I literally just bought fallout new Vegas on a steam sale, I’m gonna play it for the first time after work today!
Play it at work. Live a little!
Mass Effect is super worth it. I was in camp "Angry about the third one", and gotta say the DLCs really fixed 90% of what I was salty about.
No it didn't lmao, game is still good but the DLC definitely didn't fix anything. Still getting crappy endingd no matter what.
I guess I’m one of the rare few who wasn’t offended by the trilogy ending. Now, Andromeda? That just broke my heart 😂
Jade Empire and Sudeki on the originals Xbox were cracking RPG' s. Also the Fable trilogy on the 360 and the Witcher 2 were bangers worth giving another go.
I still have my OG XBox copies of Jade Empire and Sudeki. Both were awesome!
@@dennismckenzie8873 me too. Might need to dig them out and revisit!

I've recently started playing Marvel's Midnight Suns like a few weeks ago and I love it. The game is my first strategy game in over a decade as well so, the fact that it's Marvel is what keeps me interested. Love learning about the characters and seeing the action happen.
More to the…east. I’m so sorry but I had to.
I would say Kingdom Come Deliverance, is more of a historical rpg, pretty good for sure
Witcher 3
Space 1889 was awesome when I was a kid. You will need dosbox or something like it to run it on modern OS's though as it is a DOS game.
Following the Fallout tv series, def gonna revisit some old fallout games.
As someone who has exclusively played Nintendo I’ve never played Fallout, and with the recent Fallout Magic the Gathering set and the streaming series it’s gotten me interested in the franchise. What is a good entry point game to play?
@@Gzilla313 Fallout: New Vegas.
To bad the show is hot garbage
@@dantevairos Is it?
I haven't watched it, so what's wrong with it?
@Do-you-even-code-bro
It's one of those situations where if you don't care about established Canon, especially since it's set in the same area as New Vegas, it's not horrible on its own.
All these things together paint the picture for me
Funny enough, already revisited most of these games already. Great vid
The dragon quest team being "reshuffled" means DEI invasion
That means Skin Color > Merit

I'm playing elden ring again to prepare for june
👍
Same
Same, my fellow tarnished.
Currently playing Pillars of Eternity 2 and plan to get back into Wastelands 3 after that! Solid list!
Good choice!
Just bought the Dead Space remake and gonna check out Days Gone... When I'm not playing Helldivers 2.
The OG mass effects are so good
I’ll never forget how cool it felt to import my character from ME1 into ME2. That was one of the coolest features I had ever seen a game series do
Clearly you have not played any. If you get one shotted its clearly an indicator that you’re too underpowered for that boss / zone
Such a loser comment🤣 get better at games lol. Go back to Animal Crossing if they're too hard for you😭😭😭
Played it or not the games are clearly about challenge.. honestly its really comparing it to an outdoor roller coaster.
I'm playing Marvel's Midnight suns right now. The writing can be quite 'how do you do fellow kids?' cringe at times but overall it's a pretty good game.
I like the writing, I get what you mean, but they really nailed each character’s personality.
@@colbymclemore7642 I think my biggest problem is Tony Stark who seems to oscillate between 2 modes, the "Oh my god magic is scary" and the "We have robert downey jr at home, robert downey jr at home..." mode.
It’s such a feel good when Gameranx hearts back haha❤ love you all over there.
Midnight suns is awesome
Bloodborne is a game i constantly go back to every year or two, If they released it on PC full price id hands down buy it but really im just holding out for Bloodborne 2
No matter what the topic is, your lists always have at least one ”soulslike” game. Maybe leave those out sometimes?
So glad you mentioned 'Blue Dragon' that game was unreal! I absolutely loved it as well as 'lost odyssey', around that 2007/08 period ♥️
The fallout show is superb!
Mass Effect Legendary Trilogy is SO GOOD. Starting a third playthrough on Steamdeck - that ME1 fight music in this video got me wanting to pick it up right now. But THIS time I stop ME3 right after the Citadel DLC.

I have not played any of the Fallout series so will get into New Vegas soon 👍🏻
I would suggest Tales of Arise if you never played it when it came out.
That game had one of the best cast of characters in any RPG, and the world was just stunning to explore.
Any video that talks about New Vegas is a banger🤙🏼
I loved Dragon Quest and played it completely. I don't know if it's a version thing or so, but after the initial credits, you can play the story from a slightly different viewpoint. It's great and nearly as long as the first part.
I think I played Mass Effect from start to finish three times. The Legendary Edition last time, and I have to say the DLCs make the games even better.
Planescape is on the list of games I have to replay, if I find the time. It's a terrific game.
YS VIII, on top of being a very good game has one of the best early OST ever, Sunshine Coastline's theme is magnificent.
7:40 Dragon Quest 11 was my first DQ game and I finally understood why they’ve made so many. That game was phenomenal.
I literally just started this up again yesterday! Now I’m seeing this video! Woo!!!
I am glad you included new vegas. Just mod the shat out of new vegas, 72 mods all enhancing the vanilla features with a few texture mods. No major overhaul. Loving it more than any game I have played these past 2 - 3 years.
I like that you put Blue Dragon on the list. Its an all time classic, but its sad that it was never ported to windows.
Ys VIII was the first entry I played and I'll hold it as special to me.
Ys IX is a ton of fun if you like that sort of Marvel open world style of traversing
I played all the games I can have on PSN (VIII, IX, Celceta, Origin) hope I can find a way to get more
Currently making my way through Mass Effect 3 for the first time
Watch out for Marauder Shields at the end.
recently came across Prey 2017 and Prey Mooncrash (DLC). Would highly recommend
I just played through that one. It definitely flew under the radar.
Dragon Quest XI is one of my favourite games. The look, the music, the humour. Just such a good game. Having said that the Mass Effect trilogy is top tier.
I love midnight suns, such a great and fun experience!
I got the Mass Effect Trilogy on ps plus last year. And boy I can’t believe I’ve missed out on this masterpiece of a trilogy for all this time. Amazing world building, great story and characters. I can’t wait to see what else they got instore for this series in the near future.
"10 RPGs To Get Back to in 2024" The title is a little wonky haha. Great video regardless!
I want and need more of these videos. This is exactly what i was looking for. Already bought Marvel Midnight suns right now and thinking about Vampire the Masquerade already.
An Ys game, mentioned by a mainstream gaming channel? Now that's something I never thought I'd see. Huge respect from me guys.
I really hope Dragon Age Dreadwolf really launches in 2024 🤞🤞
Kingdoms of Amalur (Re-Reckoning) Very fun combat and lovely world (littel bit like wow)❤
I actually like the story of midnight suns. But I'm a fan of the comics. This game is underrated. I got the legendary edition for $24 bucks.
