As a small channel just starting out I usually get a couple dozen views on a video by the second day; a video I uploaded a couple days ago got 6, 7 views for for a few days - and then suddenly now it has over 500 views, just from leaving it alone and trusting the process. Be patient! Trust the process, and more importantly, trust yourself.
That’s the way I think about it. Content on YT can gain traction at literally any point. I had 22 views on my last livestream and that would absolutely be a 10/10 if lives had that ranking system. But I don’t mind it, I’m just aware of it. Just detach from the current result and don’t have any expectations. You’ll be surprised how much easier it is to just keep doing what you need to.

The worst feeling is your video flops, pulls a 10/10, -1 subs and gets 7 views overnight. And then you order a coffee and they messed it up - you got cold coffee. And then someone knocks your coffee down. And then you get to work only to find out you’re getting rude customers. And then you finish work, and finding out a wasp has entered your room. You are terrified of wasps. You brush it off and decided to go shopping to buy yourself a green screen. And sadly you couldn’t find your green screen. You go home, eat supper and you sleep. Before you go to bed, you check YT studio one last time. Your video now has 11 views and remains a 10/10... Also you got stung...

My best advice to someone who gets a 10/10 is just to keep going. My brother came into my room annoyed that his second video didn't do well even though he worked so hard on it (for context, his first video, a long-form, got 23K views). I kinda laughed, because most of my videos fail and I just accept it. Despite having 1M+ subs, most of my videos fail. I got a 10/10 literally yesterday. You can't let it get to you. Just move on.

I need to agree that if your video is 10/10 even after 1 month it still can be your number 1 video on your channel. Just give it time and believe in yourself 👍.
My second most recent video surprised me tbh. I am a cover musician and im now into genshin impact music to avoid copyright. And my own rendition/arrangement of the OST from the latest story gained traction and managed to go 400+ views in a span of a few days. I have been making effort with thumbnals since i learned that it helps a lot. I then published a synthesia style tutorial for that same piece 5 days after and now it has half the views of the performance versiin.

There is also another possibility: sometimes we have videos that starts as 1 of 10 during first several days ends up getting pretty average amount of views. By the way, we also had not one, but a whole series of videos, each of them started as 10 of 10, but we were aware of such result and decided that they will be published anyway.

Experiencing this today, my new channel seemed to have picked up the pace, then my views dropped overnight again. Feels like i am back at where i started.
it doesn't bother me at all because some of my videos have started out as a 10/10 and then it moved to a 1/10 to be honest I've stopped caring where a video ranks as it's as fluid as CTR.
Really depends what the video is as to whether or not I feel bad. I have a gaming channel I do Let's Plays and Tips and Hints. The Tips and Hints are almost always 10/10 and it doesn't bother me because they tick over nicely over time. If one of the Let's Plays gets a 10 it's a whole different story.
When I couldn't post a video for multiple days because I was so busy with my academics as a graduating student, I visited my channel again and found out that I lost 5 subscribers. This really crushed my confidence and motivation.
There could be many reasons why this happened; maybe they were bots, etc. It's just five subscribers, and it is not connected to your posting schedule. Just keep creating!
Dude, this video couldn’t have came out at a more perfect time! We have to be reminded at times that patience is key. I easily forget that sometimes, so thanks for the reminder!
The biggest problem for small channels is that they just don't get seen. We are buried deep in the ocean whilst the popular TH-camrs who wouldn't even notice an unsubscriber are the sharks and mermaids happily riding the top of the waves prominent at first glance.
True. But don’t forget that most of them have been where you are. I know I’ve been there. It took years of work and learning to build my channel. The problem for the bigger channels now is that views are right down as YT pushes smaller creators and is being spammed with AI content.
Yeah I always put Time stamps in my description so if the video does not give viewers what they want right away then the viewers can get it in the timestamps
Alot of good tips. Starting over with my channel and wanting to take everything VidIQ says to heart. My video I think that performed similarly was Death is ONLY the Beginning in Doom Eternal video (Death Montage style video). It started off very poorly then over time it blew up (for me it's still my highest viewed video) and still gets views to this day.
This video really resonates with me as a content creator. The feeling of pouring your heart and soul into a video, only to have it perform poorly, can be incredibly demoralizing. However, I think it's important to remember that views and engagement don't define the value of the content we create. The true reward comes from the connections we make with our audience and the positive impact we can have, even if it's on a smaller scale. Keep creating authentically, and your loyal fans will appreciate it.
10/10 never bothers me. I always look at the view count. If my view count is still low in 3 days to a week, I know my video is not doing well. I usually don't get 10/10's but most of the time my views are lower than I'd like them to be. But if a video is blowing up and I'm getting likes and comments and shared, I don't even have to check studio to know that it's a 1/10.
I quit TH-cam after spending 3-1/2 years creating more than 500 videos and more than 35 hours of content. I religiously followed @vidIQ and a number of other TH-cam Creators channels' advice to no avail 10 out of 10 isn't the worst feeing. Having the algorithm actively ignore your content even when you're following the supposed best and brightest ideas in the industry is. I honestly tell those who ask me about TH-cam to not trust the algorithm or anyone who tries to coach success. TH-cam promotes only the biggest channels regardless of what vidIQ or any other "TH-cam coach" might say. 🤷♂
It's frustrating after working so hard on a video, after posting it. When you later check your video analysis, with negative marks, it's discouraging.. Well, I am not giving up as a newbie!!! I will keep pushing!!!
I’m new as well! One thing that I try to do is once I publish a video not focus on the negative but the positive things that I did and then the next video just try to keep improving, which is sometimes difficult to do. But good luck on your TH-cam journey. I just subscribed to your channel.
I feel this way about all my video, it takes me so long to create them and I never feel I get the traffic in comparison to other creators very similar to myself. But at the same time I am terrible at thumbnails and I don't know how to do or understand EVERYTHING ELSE to make a channel a engaging experience for the viewers including sharing my stuff on social media. Be prepared BEFORE you start a channel, it is an emotional roller-coaster.
They can't all be gems. It's quite literally a numbers game, as explained statistically. There will always be an underperforming video in any content creators' catalogue of work no matter what. Even if you switch out the thumbnail, boost the keywords, delete and reupload the thing from scratch, this piece of content is competing against everything.
Ngl I have no idea why my shorts don't go viral I've got one at 123% average watched and like 65% decided to watch it Ik isn't great but my Vids swiped away vs watched increases with veiws it only got 12k 😢
I’ve made videos that I thought for sure were going to do terribly and have done amazing, & I’ve made videos that I thought were amazing that have done terribly (relatively speaking, of course)! The most frustrating is when one video does great, and the next one (or next FEW) don’t do very well at all! I’ve just learned to do my best, throw it out there, & see what happens! But - most importantly - to NEVER GIVE UP!! 💪🏻😁
My last video definitely a 10/10 😫 Bit I like to Treat TH-cam like a plant 🪴 If you constantly disturb a plant by touching and watering it excessively, it will struggle to grow. Sometimes, growth requires patience and allowing nature to take its course.
I’m in that now. Just put out a video that’s a little outside of what I’ve typically been doing and I’m over here doing deep breaths because long term I think it’ll do well. 😊
I have had multiple 10/10 videos, but I also know that a 1/10 video could be around the corner. My goal is always to make a video better than the last. Take your mistakes and use them to improve your videos! Good luck everyone!
Appreciate it. Love the positive comment. Before I post a video, I watch it so many times but then after I posted, I watch it again I say oh man I shouldn’t of done that, but just learn from it and keep pushing forward it’s never gonna be perfect.

One of my videos is still generating like 400 views every single day after almost 2 months now! That's pretty insane because the video started as like a 6/10 or smt
I've had many 10/10's. It's easier for me to get them as some of my videos don't get the same love as others, but at the end of it, some topics just generate more interest

It's tough to see a video get low views despite all the hard work, but every creator faces a 10/10 at some point. Stay patient and keep pushing forward; sometimes, it just takes time for a video to pick up traction. Keep believing in your content and don't give up! 🚀
You know what is crazy? It's when you have a video that outnumber the rest of the videos that you have. It becomes viral and you completely block because you can't compete with yourself 😅😅😅 I'm kinda used to 10/10s but viral! That blocked me!!
It hurts seeing that. What i hate most is that some of my views keep going down. Like 1 video was at like 15 views, then the next day it was down to 9 views. That video is a main part of the channel and i spent a about a week working on it. I did an experimental video, something I've been wanting to do for a while and that gets 63 views. I guess people like the edits.
@@WalkTalkVent after doing a bit or research I think I figured out what's happening. Views are counted more as an estimate and TH-cam ran an audit to figure out which ones were legitimate. So someone could watch a video for a few seconds, it counts but the audit might subtract it as it will see it as illegitimate. I don't know how true that is so if I'm wrong, please correct me anyone.
I had a bad feeling and I thought my unique video would reach both Pokémon shiny hunters in main games and some Pokémon go players but when I woke up I just got 4 views and no new subs. It just hurts when a super unique video just goes downhill.
I feel you. I have a video called "trickshots for an easy life", and i never saw it before yet its my worst vid so far. I honestly dont know why this happens.
I guess from my perspective, I don’t pay much attention to that rating. I try not to look at my videos after posting for at least 24 hours. most of my videos will get about 450 views within the first 4 to 6 hours but then just die after that now that’s disheartening. Even with getting a whole bunch of likes few comments and multiple subscribers but I’ll keep pushing forward. Good luck to everyone.
This 1/10 or 10/10 depends largely on what subscribers want. But these 10/10 videos have taken off later for me due to search. This often happens with tutorial content like math course videos
I posted a video yesterday that I worked really hard on the thumbnail and title and making sure the video was engaging and I wake up to 7 views (flatlined at 49 impressions) and I actually don't know what to do I feel so demotivated
@@Joe_Lego_Fandom your channel is doing super well compared that you started 2 months ago. I see you reaching 1000 subs easily! Keep posting about spider man lego builds because it looks like people love it!
The thing is I feel like i should get way more impressions as my ctr isnt that bad - sometimes ill get no impressions for hours, then a little spike randomly (its worse on my other channel especially)
Same thing with me too... Upload a short get some views and then it is a straight line graph I dont know the reason behind TH-cam not showing my content in audience's feed.
Where on my screen do I see it's a 10/10? Have been making content since 2010 or so, still at 290 subscribers. Also question a lot if I should do my content in English or Dutch where I am located? It's like the content that I create isn' t always connecting with my Dutch audience. Right now I do both. My content is about faith, travel and lifestyle. 🙏🏾❤
When TH-cam asked if their algorithm creates undue bias for small channels, my answer is always YES!!! Remove the view count and the number of subscribers so it levels the playing field.
It's not something related about algorithm , title ,hashtag or keyword etc.. , it's about where you are and your location and where you streaming your vidoes

it doesn't bother me at all because some of my videos have started out as a 10/10 and then it moved to a 1/10 to be honest I've stopped caring where a video ranks as it's as fluid as CTR.
This was really helpful. I'm in a serious dip right now. It's uncomfortable but I'll try to adapt and see what works.
Me too so good luck
Really depends what the video is as to whether or not I feel bad. I have a gaming channel I do Let's Plays and Tips and Hints. The Tips and Hints are almost always 10/10 and it doesn't bother me because they tick over nicely over time. If one of the Let's Plays gets a 10 it's a whole different story.
Every compilation I've made starts as a 9/10 or 10/10... But on a long enough timeframe? Watch time will bring them up to the top.

Nothing worst than spending hours editing and posting trying to get watch hours only to get 20 views!😢😢

@@JamesKerLindsay Hi James! Thanks for commenting. I have just been to visit your channel and subscribed.
Hain na ? 🤧🤧🤧🤧 The title and thumbnail just got me. And the vice versa is the best feeling ❤😉
I just have 5 videos but TH-cam always gives me 10/10 , 😂😂
True
You have 225 videos? I have 6.
I got a 10 of 10 but after 9 months it suddenly became one of my most watched videos
So some video takes 9 Months to reach Success ?

i just subscribed yesterday. I dont know how i didn't found you sooner it's full of helpful content. Thank you! 👊
same!
this channel is helpful, and gained me views and a few subs!
I quit TH-cam after spending 3-1/2 years creating more than 500 videos and more than 35 hours of content.
I religiously followed @vidIQ and a number of other TH-cam Creators channels' advice to no avail
10 out of 10 isn't the worst feeing.
You got this!
Hope all of you guys, Will make it to the top one day.
The worst feeling is when TH-cam accuses you of something you haven't done
I feel this way about all my video, it takes me so long to create them and I never feel I get the traffic in comparison to other creators very similar to myself.
But at the same time I am terrible at thumbnails and I don't know how to do or understand EVERYTHING ELSE to make a channel a engaging experience for the viewers including sharing my stuff on social media.
Be prepared BEFORE you start a channel, it is an emotional roller-coaster.
I just uploaded a video and it's still the same 10/10 the same thing for my last 10 videos
They can't all be gems. It's quite literally a numbers game, as explained statistically. There will always be an underperforming video in any content creators' catalogue of work no matter what. Even if you switch out the thumbnail, boost the keywords, delete and reupload the thing from scratch, this piece of content is competing against everything.
everyone has videos that just flop. Me too.
Trye
The only thing worse than the usual 10/10 is the-1 subscribers… it’s like oh my why do I put myself through this week in and week out. 🤪
Worst feeling is when your video is 76% watched and avg watch time 91% and TH-cam doesn’t push beyond 9k views 😢
My average watch duration is like 99% and one has like 123% on shorts don't really no why
Ngl I have no idea why my shorts don't go viral I've got one at 123% average watched and like 65% decided to watch it Ik isn't great but my Vids swiped away vs watched increases with veiws it only got 12k 😢
Key takeaway - PATIENCE!!
i think its very hard when you put hours into your content and you get like 50 views.
Thanks for the advice tho! :)
Yes!
@@vidIQ thank you for the support! I subscribed:)
Me Too
My last video definitely a 10/10 😫 Bit I like to Treat TH-cam like a plant 🪴 If you constantly disturb a plant by touching and watering it excessively, it will struggle to grow. Sometimes, growth requires patience and allowing nature to take its course.
I got FOUR in a row of 10 of 10 videos....but I didn't quit. And now I have TWO 1 of 10's in a row!!
Nice! Congrats!
If you are reading this, your channel will grow
thanks! I really hope it will :)
actually no because youtube 🖕that all
I’m in that now.
Thank you to vidiq getting me 210 subscribers in 7 days!🎉
how did you do it?
I tried using every technique and watched lots of videos but im not growing rapidly (like 2 subs per week)
@@SolidTrickshots Check my short about the brick Separator. I make 1-2 fast paced lego shorts everyday. The brick Separator short gained me 100 subscribers overnight and I'm still not sure how. Here's what I learned so far. Create fast paced shorts 1-2 times a day
Tell the viewer to subscribe in an interesting way
Make content people want
I found uploading at around 7-10 pm in North America works best for my content. If I uploaded at 11am, the video would flop
That's basically it
Bruh, you buyed subs
@@VgamingTC cap
@@SolidTrickshots the video that did it was the one about the brick Separator. I just upload 1-2 high quality shorts a day
Lack of consistency of publishing content, poor timing of publication (time of day/day of week).....its summer time, etc.....and viewing habits change weekly, monthly, and life seems to have returned to normal since March 2020......
Very good video, always nice to get a diffrent "view" on things. It's easy to get stuck in your own mind sometimes.
Yes but it feels like content farming.
Edit: yeha I know...
So close to 1k subs 🎉🎉
Tnx vidiq i listened to your advice
It really works
Omg you really are! You got this!

It just happened to me. And it feels like it right now. I was riding high and I’m like yeah let’s post post post. No I think that would be a negative. If you post post post, you have to wait a day or two.
I've been experimenting and learning every day, seeing what works and doesn't. Definitely a learning process!
thank you for 13k subs
Thank you VIDIQ ❤❤❤
Wow, this video was eye-opening! I've definitely panicked over a 10 of 10 before, but this gave me a whole new perspective. The tips about experimenting and being patient are super helpful. Thanks for sharing your experience,
One of my videos is still generating like 400 views every single day after almost 2 months now! That's pretty insane because the video started as like a 6/10 or smt
I've had many 10/10's. It's easier for me to get them as some of my videos don't get the same love as others, but at the end of it, some topics just generate more interest
Had a video on my second channel with 1.5k views. Take 25 hour for it to get it first impressions. It on 2 impression in 2 days. So dont know what happened
I have zero impressions on my first video on my other channel. So I’m right there with you.

It's tough to see a video get low views despite all the hard work, but every creator faces a 10/10 at some point. Stay patient and keep pushing forward; sometimes, it just takes time for a video to pick up traction. Keep believing in your content and don't give up! 🚀
Yes 😇
It's true, sometimes the video I thought would be awesome ended up with 12 views. But I hope those 12 people enjoyed it!
You know what is crazy? It's when you have a video that outnumber the rest of the videos that you have. It becomes viral and you completely block because you can't compete with yourself 😅😅😅
I'm kinda used to 10/10s but viral!
Just keep pushing your channel majority of people I know love Star Wars I just subscribed. Good luck on your journey.
@@Joe_Lego_Fandom thank you. That's all I can do.
Videos can lose views?
@@WalkTalkVent I have no idea but it's weird
@@WalkTalkVent after doing a bit or research I think I figured out what's happening. Views are counted more as an estimate and TH-cam ran an audit to figure out which ones were legitimate. So someone could watch a video for a few seconds, it counts but the audit might subtract it as it will see it as illegitimate.
I don't know how true that is so if I'm wrong, please correct me anyone.
The way I needed to see this after having a 10/10 video right after a 1/10 video . This video was the moral boost I needed ! Thanks guys !
If you're reading this comment, I hope that your channel grows in 2024... Don't give up💪
Thank you
I posted a video yesterday that I worked really hard on the thumbnail and title and making sure the video was engaging and I wake up to 7 views (flatlined at 49 impressions) and I actually don't know what to do I feel so demotivated

Same thing with me too... Upload a short get some views and then it is a straight line graph I dont know the reason behind TH-cam not showing my content in audience's feed.
I get 10 out of 10 too much because my channel retention and impressions barely arrive... but when i do make a decent video it gets either 5 or 2
I don’t have 10 video’s yet but I’m happy my Art will get discovered over time. I’m playing the slow game 😊
I had a 10/10 that went up a year later, and now it is performing really good :D
SO I don't even stress it.
I finally hit 500 subs on the road to 1k!
just got a 10/10 after 24 hours and its soul crushing... 😭thanks for this vid really needed it
Where on my screen do I see it's a 10/10?
This channel has never provided me with anything other than nonsense..😊
I always like my own comments because I don't want them to be lonely out there with no likes or comments
My RPM Changed to 26 cents OMG 😱
