To be honest, I am happy to be here, I do not want to bomb with 5 videos right off the get go, as this is something that will make me unmotivated to proceed if they do not get views. My prespective is...go the longer but much more sustainable route...where you are happy for each new sub and each new few watch hours.
No making 5 videos back to back is incredibly stupid advice. But what you CAN do is make 2 good videos that link to each other. Make sure they pair well and have a good segway at the end of one linking to the other. TH-cam end screens show up a maximum of 20 seconds from the end of the video. Try to find a way to link the second video to the first video, if they are related even a "if you missed this video on ___ it clarifies this even more so click here to check it out." If you can get 2 videos that some or most people will watch back to back that will have a significant boost to your channel. Sometimes I think viewers watching another of your videos is weighted more heavily than watching to the end of one video. But hey im still starting here so do your thing. Just dont do what I did and start a "choose your own adventure" end screen directing to TWO DIFFERENT videos that you havent made yet. 2 videos later and I still have to make a third to fill all those end screens! :P
That's where I'm at. Im gonna get there somehow. My channel has 6 total vids (2 are shorts) and they all are in the 100 to 200 view range EXCEPT for my 3rd vid - it has over 1100 views, and I dont know why.
I launched my channel with 4 videos and was monetized in 6 weeks. 😃 I got the advice from a similar channel and was aiming for 5 but it was really hard. The views didn't come from posting multiple videos, as I went weeks with maybe 5 views. Anyway, I think you shouldn't focus on early video performance. Start out with a plan and have fun doing something that makes you happy. 🤗🤗🤗
Monetized in 6 weeks?! Woah congrats. Thanks for the advice, yeah I get too caught up with the intial performance of my videos when i first post and since I do podcast/longer form video editing becomes basically a full time job and it sucks when you're so excited to post and it doesnt perform as well intially. I've only started for 3 months now and im trying to disassociate the initial results from my content/success but it's a mental game. In terms of your channel I think you have a very unique niche and great content, checked out a couple of your videos and can say im a new sub and that you have a lot to offer. God bless you!
@@MindsetJournaling Thank you so much for the kind words and for subscribing-it truly means a lot! You nailed it when you said (I'm paraphrasing), the algorithm is a reflection of your audience's actions. It's been working well for me, though in my head, of course I too have those million views per video dream lol
Thanks for the tip!. I ran a channel for 4 years with no growth just views and no subscribers. And I started a new channel, this video helps me see my mistakes . Unlike other youtubers i have my mobile only. But I'll give it a try. Wish me luck guys and good luck to you all.
The VidIQ channel should produce a video explaining why many, MANY of the top performing videos on YT do absolutely none of the things that vidIQ itself suggests doing.
They change the channel grow strategy in every other video, in one video last week they say Mr Beast thumbnails and video editing style dont work well anymore so do minimalist videos instead. Then the next week they say do Mr beast thumbnails and video editing.
5.5 years and 388 videos later I’m at 491 subscribers and honestly I’m happy with that. Every small channel has a dream of making it big but that won’t always come true and I’ve accepted I’m destined to be a small channel.
I quickly checked your channel and I couldn't figure out what your niche was, if you made that clearer then you might see more growth, but then again I only have 345 subscribers (even though I got them in 7 months)
@@HelloScratch I don’t have a niche, which is probably why I haven’t been growing as much, but I don’t like feeling limited to posting one kind of content. I like to make whatever I want, whenever I want.
I was gonna say the same thing like WTF that divides to 30 subs a video, thats pretty sweet. If I had 30 subs per video I think id be monetized already! I got 1 with 200 something subs and the rest got almost none! :P
For a long time I chased trying to get views and subs and was all analytic based. All that got me was stress and frustration when things didn’t perform well. I had to sit back and realise what I originally started my channel for. So I took the time to come to the realisation and now I’m having a blast recording and uploading videos I even look forward to editing them
Whether I got views or not, I found my own creative passion and I wanted to put my own videos up anyway as a sort of cloud save. I picked up 635 subscribers and 1,200 hours by the end of 2023, then I completely overhauled every video I made and started fresh in Jan 2024. Back to 0 hours. My sleepy channel picked up again in July because of a single hour and a half long video with a high interest level to the target audience, and many of them binge watched the rest of my content that I've been avg. 50-100 hours a day. Best advice I ever got was "write the book that you want to read" that I applied as "make the movie that you want to see" because nobody else has made it, and you want to have something like that for yourself.
vidIQ.. So basically TH-cam IS in a way holding us back by only putting our videos in front of a certain few viewers. Here's a thought, how about putting our videos in front of everyone and let the viewers decide if they want to watch it or not. I'm a mechanic and my channel is in the automotive/motorcycle/tools/welding niche but does that mean those kind of videos are all I watch? Of course not. I watch videos that have nothing to do with my channels niche. TH-cam needs to get with the program here. If they did what I just mentioned there would be no need for a stupid "Algorithm".. Problem solved.
I remember back then I used to get so many startup channels on my recommended and now there is no more. I have literally 0 subs bro and I'm deadass about to give up to man because this is so stupid
TH-cam is like any other business. They promote what is already working for them and will make them money with advertisers. I don't know exactly how they do it, but there is definitely some bottlenecking going on somehow.
Im gonna tell you the truth , your videos arent super obvious what they are , imagine how much competition there already is and there are new videos EVERY minute , imagine how many gaming channels there are out there and how many new ones pop out everyday, just take a peek the video games section how many minecraft videos there are... , add some thumbnails to your videos and good titles that incite people to click you are gonna improve with time , take inspiration from others , you cant just wake up and find a million views waiting for you lol (it happens sometimes but its rare and it takes years for the algorithm to notice it, but not gaming videos usually , happens with animal videos).
TH-cam is hard, but keep going, make sure you enjoy it and are not doing it for the wrong reasons and the growth will come. I firmly believe that. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway! 😂
I've been posting shorts daily for a year to learn how to make videos. The next year, I'm dedicating to making long videos as good as possible. Thank you for this video. It was helpful! 😊
1:30 my first video did really well, my second was actually the one to do worse, though my third did well again, and it’s just random now, though usually reliant on if there’s a good thumbnail within the first day.
Just started a TH-cam channel, and honestly it's really difficult to begin but I think the important thing to do is to enjoy the process and not focus on the numbers too much or you'll feel demotivated!
I started TH-cam in December 2nd 2018 while my channel was made 14 years ago. I wished I could change to 5 years ago… I started bad when I 1st started TH-cam now am trying to do better. I make good videos but I don’t get views & subs I deserve sadly. Also I realised I used one of these tricks in the past & got over 1,000+ views & two above 10,000+.

@@vidIQ i have one more question, after uploading 5 videos at the same day when should i upload my next video and do i have to upload 5 again or just 1 ?
My first video got 2285 views in the first 7 days. The second video published a month later got 2295 views in the first 7 days. The third video published a month later got 4886 views in 7 days. It is not luck. This is my 3rd channel and I finally figured it out (I think).
One question that has been plaguing me for a while and I can't find an answer to is this... I have a few channels that I never use that have between 1-3k subscribers. For the most part, those channels were used similar to my main channel, with vlogger/parrot related content but not the same. One was meant to just put random shorts, another for vlogs and so on. I didn't end up continuing to post on them. Now I have comedy videos ready to go up. Do I rebrand one of those channels so I don't have to start completely over with new subscribers and trying to hit monetization or do I start a new channel from zero to give it a chance to hit all the right people. I am torn because on one hand we have built up an audience that likes us and our characters and they know the other channels aren't meant to be the same content but the real question is, how will the youtube algorithm feel about it. I haven't posted on those channels in years so will youtube give it a fresh new chance? I have not found this choice to make addressed anywhere.
I have 800 videos, man! That's a lot more than 5. And I have tons of playlists, including a "Binge Watch the Best of Izzy" one, linked on every end card, along with an English video and a French one 👍That incites people to watch just another one... just another one... like a potato chip 😊
Hello Sir, I am a professional Digital Marketer and SEO Expert. I visited your TH-cam channel, Your content is very good. But I found some problems in your channel, your videos are not SEO optimized, so your videos don't reach more viewers and your videos don't get more views. Your video needs SEO optimization, it can easily get thousands of views on the video. I can help you to grow your channel 100% organic and perfect way within a short period of time!!
I feel like there's a million videos on how to write a script on TH-cam. However they are so high level and generic just like the one in this video and several others on VidIQ. They all say the same thing but no one ever goes through actually writing a script with different formatting, framework examples etc. it's just "write a good hook, tell a story, envoke curiosity etc" well duh..
@@ToEnlightInLove What makes you think I haven't? I've done quite a few actually. This has nothing to do with my personal writing ability. My comment was observational about what I see on TH-cam on this topic. As a viewer, supporting these channels, what I see is regurgitated high level content on this same topic which does not help the viewer execute or learn how to write a good script as there is no depth or examples.
I have analyzed your youtube channel, found out some problems and realized that your videos aren’t getting enough exposure. I have also watched some of your video and love it. I think videos like those should get more views. do you want to talk about it for while?
Starting my TH-cam channel has been eye-opening, especially while juggling a full-time job. Managing everything solo is a challenge, and the pressure to upload consistently adds to it. But I'm determined to enjoy the process eventually - hopefully soon! Wishing the same for everyone else starting out there.
Last year my channel was doing decent, was getting 500 to 1000 views or more per video. This year, the views dropped significantly and the watch hours that counts towards monetization stays stuck, hovering just under that 4000 hours. Idk if TH-cam changed their algorithm over the winter, but it's frustrating.
@@drivingdaily582 Yeah, i won't stop uploading videos since i really like to edit the gameplay and share my joy, but sometimes its get really Frustrating if no one watches it after many hours of work.
The thing is these strategies will start to be overused and new ones will have to be introduced but there will be some point all the strategies are used and you will just have to go back to the basics

At 249😁 and I’m so thankful for each one of them but I believe that in a few months or years I’ll be even more thankful because I know by Gods grace I’m not giving up so easily 😂💯
I have a question to YT gurus: why my recent videos have been recommended from channels that have nothing to do with my niche (the Sims 4), even though I specify the game in the title, tags and select it in category when uploading the video? They have been recommended from some tv shows, gossip channels and some other irrelevant content. It has affected my CTR greatly (obviously) and I don't know how to overcome this problem. Could someone please suggest how to fix the issue? My channels is not new, it has been up for over a year, so it's not like YT doesn't know what my content is about.
Not a guru, just on a YT journey like you. - Keep in mind the recommended views from other channels/vids are not completely made up from the other video's topic being the same as your video. It’s also made up of that viewer's overall interests such as tv shows, gossip channels, some other irrelevant content, AND the Sims. Of course, it is best to have YT recommending from other videos that have a good mix of, viewers who like the Sims AND videos that are highly related to your topic. You could try and “trick” or “teach” YT (using the words of this video, not mine lol) by selecting one of your videos that you believe has good potential to do well and 1. Adding a link to it high up in the description of all your other related videos, 2. Adding a link to it in the cards of all those same videos, along with 3. Adding a link to it in the end screens. Let that all run for at least 4 weeks. The hope is that by YT seeing the viewers with the same interest that your target video has, YT will know what the viewer base is and give your video millions (too many?) of impressions outside of your channel. Is the sims where you walk around as a character and interact with others who are doing the same? If yes, I think my wife played that years ago. We have a cat also. I hope the above helps you, Maria. - Daniel P.S. One strategy that’s helped me is to include as many related videos as possible in your playlists. Also, placing a link to the playlist within each video's description has helped increase playlist views/binging.
@@onlinedegreesandcourses Thank you so much for the tips :) That's a lot to take in, but I'll try to implement your advice. As for the channels from which my video was recommended, usually it is a mix of sims 4 videos and some other gaming related topics. It's that a couple of my recent videos have been recommended from what seems like completely random topics (I understand that those people might still be interested in the sims alongside with the tv shows, gossip and stuff, but it was just wierd). And I think I also noticed a pattern: videos I watch on the same device (PC), but under a different google account influence the channels my videos are recommended from... I don't know why or how.. Maybe it's because I also watch sims 4 content from that account and also watch those channels, that alsgorithm thinks that people that watch those channels might be interested in the sims? I don't know if it made any sense, but I see the topics are very similiar.
Thinks for the idea i going to use it. Im official start my channel on the firsr but im going to post 3-5 video. I have 3 already planed just need to iron out the kinks
1:11 i started this channel a few weeks ago and i got 100 views in one night from when i uploaded it... (but i have experience cuz i have 2 other channels before this one that failed miserably)
My question regarding matpat advice about uploading 5 videos Is it at once like I know he said create 5 videos in bulk but upload everything at same or what weekly daily hourly what ?? As TH-cam would think it’s the automation sh!t if someone upload 5 videos at once Idk maybe can anyone answer
Use tags, they are usually not used because they seem "useless." I posted a video a couple days ago and it got 6 views in 2 hours, after adding tags, it achieved almost 1k views.
indeed, it is very difficult for those of us at the beginning of the journey, but the important thing is to evolve and not give up. good luck to everyone

Try to find a way to link the second video to the first video, if they are related even a "if you missed this video on ___ it clarifies this even more so click here to check it out."
If you can get 2 videos that some or most people will watch back to back that will have a significant boost to your channel.
❤ do it for you. Play the long game
That's where I'm at. Every time I get a single subscriber I get a smile on my face
I launched my channel with 4 videos and was monetized in 6 weeks. 😃
I got the advice from a similar channel and was aiming for 5 but it was really hard. The views didn't come from posting multiple videos, as I went weeks with maybe 5 views. Anyway, I think you shouldn't focus on early video performance. Start out with a plan and have fun doing something that makes you happy. 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you i needed this advice
Monetized in 6 weeks?! Woah congrats. Thanks for the advice, yeah I get too caught up with the intial performance of my videos when i first post and since I do podcast/longer form video editing becomes basically a full time job and it sucks when you're so excited to post and it doesnt perform as well intially. I've only started for 3 months now and im trying to disassociate the initial results from my content/success but it's a mental game. In terms of your channel I think you have a very unique niche and great content, checked out a couple of your videos and can say im a new sub and that you have a lot to offer. God bless you!

I just decided to start my. I can't seem to get subs
For a long time I chased trying to get views and subs and was all analytic based. All that got me was stress and frustration when things didn’t perform well.
I had to sit back and realise what I originally started my channel for.
So I took the time to come to the realisation and now I’m having a blast recording and uploading videos I even look forward to editing them
Good Advice, The hardest part is just not getting discouraged when your getting 0 views
HOPE MY FELLOW CONTENT CREATORS MAKE IT AS WELL‼️
Problem solved.
not everyone can fit in the front row of the concert my friend

"This is my 3rd channel and I finally figured it out (I think)." So do tell then.. We all want to know.
Hello Sir,
I am a professional Digital Marketer and SEO Expert.
They all say the same thing but no one ever goes through actually writing a script with different formatting, framework examples etc. it's just "write a good hook, tell a story, envoke curiosity etc" well duh..
exactly
So take a workshop or read a book to improve your writing/storytelling skills
@@ToEnlightInLove What makes you think I haven't? I've done quite a few actually. This has nothing to do with my personal writing ability. My comment was observational about what I see on TH-cam on this topic.
As a viewer, supporting these channels, what I see is regurgitated high level content on this same topic which does not help the viewer execute or learn how to write a good script as there is no depth or examples.

6:05 How do I tell a story for my walking videos? 😂
- Daniel
