- The 2020 Mercedes Benz A220 has replaced the CLA class. Even though this is the smallest Benz produced for the USA the A220 has a ton of interior space. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged in-line 4 producing 188 HP and mated to a 7-speed DCT. The interior of the A220 not only has more room but also a ton of new technology and safety features. Is the 2020 Mercedes Benz A220 the best bang for your buck Benz?

Great review! Thanks so much for pointing out that not everyone who wants a luxury car wants to drive around a giant yacht on wheels. This puppy looks loaded with tech (not found on some higher up models) and perfect for zipping around crowded roads. And on top of the vroom, the suspension/ride looked really smooth. I also enjoyed your obsession with snacking in the car.
This is the car I want. I chose not to settle for a kia forte gt and just to keep driving my cheap car while I save for this.
Wait until the warranty has expired. You will wish you had the Kia.

@@georgerenstrom4348 I work on my own cars now if they break. I buy cars for around 5-6k cash usually Hondas or Toyota. When I buy an A class it'll be slightly pre-owned and I know what I'm getting into. I just like them. I'll end up doing most of the work myself if I need to before I get rid of it one day.
Forte gt is better than this car lol n way quicker and almost half the price

I had it for 4 months as my work car in 2020 and I am in love with this car eversince. Just enough juice to be not boring and really good on gas and comfort as a daily driver.

Dude! The denim blue color is the color I have for my Mercedes. I thought at first I actually bought the car from where you guys were from, but turns out the interior is completely different. My interior is all black with cross red stitching.

I just leased one. Reminds my first MB, a 2013 c300 sport. I went on to lease two more c300, but always loved the smaller car. Glad to be going back to this compact.
I’m wrapping up a lease on a C 300 and I’m thinking of going to this. If I ever get to fly again, I should be letting this car sit 4 or 5 months a year. I owned a CLA 250 that I loved enough to get me away from my 7th, but defunct, SAABs. I didn’t like the turbo lag, But I think I’d feel like a soccer mom and a GLA or B.

Great content (as usual). So refreshing to see honest reviews without personal bias. I come from the school that says "A good car, is a good car". I've driven German cars (BMW/Mercedes) for the last 20 years, but I can appreciate a quality product, regardless of who built it (I.E Camaro, New Acura TLX, etc). You're one of the few reviewers that I trust. Great work Paisan ;)
BTW...it would be funny to see you eat a Crispy Creme or Twinkie at the end of one of these videos. You probably haven't had one since 1989 but you talk about that stuff in every video so...LOL!

I have my 2020 A220 for a year now. I still LOVE this car. Fun to drive with a ton of features. And MBUX is second to none. . Thank you for the great and ACCURATE reviews. They really inform and help. Thinking of getting the 2021 GLA 250 for our second car.

I looked at one of these when I was car shopping, I’m not a big Mercedes Benz fan, but this one drew me in. Unfortunately my credit wasn’t strong enough to get approved for this car. Had to get a Hyundai Elantra instead but, hopefully with some hard work and saving up, I’ll get one. I’m ,ore of a Audi fan. But this is a sexy car

What credit? Just save some money. Give up on something. Work more hours. I quit smoking for example and that saved me like 300 dollars per month. We all have some money sink hobbies too. Get your finances in order bro and money will accumulate. Btw older this car gets its gonna be cheaper. You dont have to buy it new. Buy used one 5 yo old for example and save a lot of money.
Always great content with full throttle ; it shifts nice for a dct , I wasn’t sure it would but it shift nice . Love this a 220 4matic you get tech and driver assistance etc with this car for great price . I don’t care about the 3 star emblem or manufacturer I want a decent sedan for a decent price and this fits my budget . Perfect size inside and trunk . Thanks for review

@@RaitisRides I am man, however, I am from Canada and our taxes and pricing are very different here from what you say it is in the USA. Here it's about $ 48,000.00 with Taxes and preferred package. Financing monthly with a down payment of around $ 5,000.00 would be over $ 800.00 close to $900.00. BTW ever since I've started watching your reviews I've learnt so much about cars as I am looking to buy my first car this year with the Grace of God. I love your videos and your sense of humour. You have earned the nickname Mr. Twinky. LOL. The question, so far I am thinking about the Nissan Sentra, Buick Encore and Nissan Rouge. The reason why I am more into the SUV is that they come with the AWD option and because I am from Canada and with our winter here being pretty heavy, I feel like I would need an AWD more than an FWD. So my question is, which one out of the three vehicles I am so far looking at would you most recommend for a new driver? Also, if there are any other's you can recommend that I can look at would be so helpful.

Love the paint color. But the panda bear interior, not so much. I wish we got the hatchback here in the US.
I was really expecting low $30k for a smaller & entry level vehicle. $44k is really high
I was guessing $35-40k. He dealer optioned this one a little too heavy IMO.
Imagining paying $45K for Toyota Corolla with Mercedes badge.
These things depreciate like hell though. You can get already get a well optioned 2019 for ~$25k.

Agreed, especially since MB doesn’t mean what it used to. Brand prestige and panache have gradually eroded over the years with its over bloated lineup.

It feels like a German "4 door Mustang GT" in a positive way... which means that people can custom that sedan personally for later use as a form of self expression. Mercedez Benz A class is meant for future customization when buyers go to a Hennessey Custom Performance Upgrade House and add some personal custom touches... and possibly own preferential racing stripes.
It is meant for customization, like Mr. Paul Walker in Fast And Furious
@@GerardPedrico Honestly, this competes with its own CLA. Which is more muscle car like with its power domes on the hood and the more aggressive head- and taillights. For me the CLA is a winner. (Also has frameless doors)
The software and safety features drive up the price.
He didn’t show you half of the trick features, like the voice control, the fuel saving features (engine shuts off at stoplights to save fuel but takes off on a dime when you press the accelerator👍🏾), remote engine control, navigation system, etc.
The car will drive for 50 miles on a flat tire with no noticeable difference in the ride comfort and zero rim damage.
Then there are the MB security features, programable seat settings, illuminated star (at night it’s the coolest thing ever), sun/moon roof with retractable sheath, and other features.
The car corners on a dime. Try this trick:
Get into your A220 and go to an empty parking lot, set a quarter down outside of the driver’s door on the ground, cut the wheel all the way to the left, drive in a full circle and stop right back in the same spot at which you left the quarter.
Open your door, and the quarter will literally be exactly where you left it. In other words, the car corners so tight that it drives a perfect 360 degree circle.
I have owned BMW’s as well as MB. I tried the 360 degrees maneuver in a BMW (multiple models) but couldn’t do it, and BMW’s are supposed to be built for performance.
Try it!
The only A series I would be interested in would be an A45 amg

A35 seems like a decent compromise but I hear ya. No way I’d buy a car like this brand new. I’ll let someone else take the 30% depreciation for the first few years.

Very nice, it has more features than my 2016 c300 had. Now my 2022 Genesis G80 prestige, kills my old C300, I don't miss it at all.

I looked at this model and a new 2018 Giulia Alfa Romero. Found an AWD A220 for $33k and the Giulia Ti sport AWD for $29k (with options it was an MSRP of $49k. $20k off and such a great drive with just shy of 100 more horses, I went Italian. The German offering was tempting though.

I don’t get why this car gets so much hate. This has similar dimensions and price point as C class from over a decade ago, cars now have become too large. This is a great car for city traffic, and especially for younger buyers who are growing into luxury.

I’m thinking about trading in my 2018 Acura TLX V6 with this. I’m debating on the pros and cons. My only concern with the TLX is the sluggish ZF 9 transmission and not sure about its long term reliability.

I dont know if you though of this, but since you know alot about vehicles, you should give them a score and pull up a list from best scores to worst scores, just like doug demuro, but not so detailed simply an overall score :)

It’s really fascinating how Mercedes got 400hp out of their AMG A45s that is only sold in Europe. Nevertheless, this is a nicely proportioned car😍 looks a lot cleaner than the stretched out 2020 CLA
Love how all Americans over here being like: "damn 33k is too expensive for a car in this class" while the car is equipped with sunroof, both sides electric seats and so on.
While in Germany (where the car actually comes from) the base version is optioned with absolute nothing and the option list is ridiculously overpriced compared to the us prices. For example: Mercedes makes you pay separately for driver side electric seats and passengers electric seat
The car as it is presented right here would cost you at least $65k in Germany..
I'd take it to a muffler shop and have those exhaust tips made functional.

Tbh it’s a beautiful car. But i really feel like people who buy this car buy it bc it’s a mercedes and try and flex that. It’s nice, don’t get me wrong. But a lotttt or bigger cars out there for this price, not to mention offer same tech (besides interior lights etc)

I think it only looks good in black but the Acura ILX has more horsepower and lower maintenance I'd believe.
What I learned in this video is if I get this car, i have to stuff 12 twinkies in the front, 2 in the exhaust and a banana in the back seat pouch.
