What’s the point of having A Class sedan when you have the CLA?
In today’s video we will compare the 2021 Mercedes CLA vs 2021 A Class sedan, what separates these two besides the visible differences? Let’s hit it.
If you are in the market for these two, in this video I will compare them head to head to find out what really separates them, which one will cost you more, what the options are, how much bigger is the CLA, and of course how do they drive?
Fun fact, Mercedes recently admitted that they went too far with their cheaper compact range, they were too focused on competing with volume makers. Take the A Class, it’s not too far in pricing compared to the CLA, they still offer both in Canada and United States, it confuses people, which one should I buy? Is the A class too small, is the CLA too big, do I need to pay more for the CLA?
In terms of power, the CLA and A Class share similar engines, with the A class having a detuned 4 Cylinder turbo charged engine mated with a 7G-DCT 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Both have a 4 matic drive system for those snowy days.

Is it true that Aclass sedan is front wheel drive? How about cla front/rear wheel drive?
In Europe the A Class can have the AMG line and it makes a huge difference in the front, very similar to the CLA; the back are different (and motors too).
The CLA sits lower and still just slightly sexier with the slipping roofline.
i am 1,92 CM will head room be okay if I leave out the Panoramic roof?

There’s a video with that comparison. Keep in mind that the A220 with the AMG features is not a true AMG sport car.
Actually, i like the face front grill for the CLA the dots looks more chromed and better in my opinion, My question is can i have the same grill ordered for the A-class or it's only customed for the CLA-class?
It's because the CLA in this video has the AMG pack.
Not sure about the availability in your country, but generally speaking, the grill with the chrome dots is part of the AMG-exterior package, which is available for the A-class as well as the CLA. Just open the mercedes benz online configurator and check it out for yourself :)
I think the dots in the grill actually cheapen the look.
i'm a french owner of CLA shooting brake , and i was looking for a test drive of this car on your channel, but it seems to me that she is not sold in north america :(

I believe both vehicles will be preferred somewhere in South; West of the USA and in some cities. Hoever the real money maker for the brand will be GLA as in Europe as in North America and maybe even in China.
For Canada I believe GLA is a winner.
Maybe some sale will have CLA.

Just ordered a CLA. In my opinion and the opinion of a lot others it just looks better
I absolutely love my new CLA250e. Remarkably efficient petrol engine and goes at least 40 miles on electric alone. Enough space in the back for two toddlers, and enough space for two large suitcases in the boot. Great looks and a phenomenal entertainment system!!! Although mine has a couple of issues... Why is there no skip track button on the steering wheel?!?! And the door was clicking against the body until they fixed the insulation. Otherwise a solid 9/10 car.
If you select bluetooth on the steering wheel instead of navigation or radio, you can skip to next track by sliding down on the left touch button ;)

I own a brand new A220, and it’s a dream. I would get an AMG C63 Coupe if I was going to go bigger.

test drove both and was about to buy the a class before test driving and i definitely picked the cla it has more torque more snappy than the a class and i love the sport mode on the cla better than on the a class… i just hate the rear lights on the a class it looks like a honda although the cla back isnt that great too.. yep i agree amg package is a must when getting a benz.. and yep those frameless doors changes everything i dig it more…
Man the cla back is the best part… a class is horrible but back of cla is like a cls… when logos are removed on road I can’t tell the difference

I’ve been torn between which one to get and literally the only reason I would get the CLA is cause it looks better. But it’s literally $60 more a month to finance it and idk if I can justify that on looks alone.

I’ve got a new cla, love it so much, though petrol is a lot, I get 29mpg, always getting chatted up in petrol stations.
I just drove both this week and I'm going with the A220. It "feels" roomier in both front and back seats. I also drove the C class but didn't see much difference other than it felt a bit bigger and definitely more back seat leg room but in the end not worth the 8k jump in price. I mostly drive alone for work and my teenage kids will have to just deal with it😂
In the U.K. it's cheaper to lease a CLA than an a class saloon
@@DeCurtaRican really? I have both. My a220 is roomy and perfect tech. But the cla looks a million times better on the outsides. It’s more aggressive. My a220 feels like an Altima with a mercedes logo
This comparison does not make sense to me. surely both should have an AMG package or similar package to the other?
Things must be different over the pond. The A-class saloon/sedan in the UK/Europe is available as full AMg with the 45 class. You ask why there is a hatchback version of the A-class well simply British and European car buyers like hatchbacks. Personally, I think both cars are great but would probably select the CLA because it is bigger and in my opinion looks better thanks to the coupe design. but I do love the A-class I just love saloon and coupe cars over hatchbacks. so when you do a comparison don't just compare the US and Canadian availability check the whole range.
Back seat headroom
It’s crazy that it’s the same engine but they tuned the A220 for 188 and the CLA for 200+. Literally same vehicle and everything.

I think it looks better too. Idk what they’re talking about. The A220 is so sleek and looks faster than it is. Put the 19” star runs on it (that’s what I have). It looks incredible!

I have owned the CLA 200 But turn to A-Klass 220 because I found the CLA to big to park on little park place But I must say the CLA was Quiter and better on the road, In this video you compared the 250 vs 220 yes that’s 30 PK more
The CLA 200 has a renault motor wich is quiter
So much misconceptions and wrong Infos here. Some 200s have no Renault motors.. And these 1.33 l motors are not pure renaults. It's under supervision, with much work from Mercedes himself.. I have the new cla 200d 4matic Shooting brake, with amg package in and out. (new model cx118).. It has a 1950ccm real Mercedes Motor. The newest model of the newer Gen motors. I need 4,5 Liter Diesel for 100km. I have a 4matic, with All extras! And the shooting brake model with the big trunk. (we call it a combi)
The cla (even the old models) have a world record in wind channels for serial cars. Very economic. Yes, you get a little less head space in the cla at the back seats.. But it has more room

If you are married with family, then got for A Class sedan, otherwise, it's the CLA.
I can get 3 children in mine, and my partner, that includes toddler car seat. It looks awesome.
