    12:30 I've seen comments by other fighter pilots who mentioned Rooster actually messed up in the starting sequence for the F14. The reason the ejectable seats didn't work was not they were faulty, but Rooster didn't arm them before they took off (IIRC apparently you need to remove a pin somewhere to arm the seats, and Rooster never did that, most likely because he didn't know about it).

    The taking off in the tomcat part was included because in WW2 an American pilot stole an enemy plane, after crashing his and flew it back to a friendly air base. The reason for the accuracies in the movie is down to Tom. He played a large part in all aspects of this movie while it was being made.

    All they would of had to do for dropping the laser guided bombs is after release just pull up and do an Immelmann and go back to the deck. You probably can do it before hitting the crest of the mountain where the SAMS are. At peak of the turn throw some chaff and flares out just in case. Then you are low and fast cause you punch it on the way down and you just go out the way you came in which has already proven to be a relatively safe ingress route. Or better yet take 6-7 of the tomahawks and take out the top of the mountain sam sites in addition to the runway/airbase. But it would not of been as exciting.

      They could have taken a raptor to fight against the felon. There's no way that an f14 could beat a felon. SU-57 is much better equipped, much faster, more stealthy and has much better maneuverability than the f14.

    Great reaction video. The 5th gen Fighters we're only about 4 to 1 over the older ones. So there is a chance , tho slimmer , a Tomcat could prevail. Especially with less trained pilots as adversaries against Top Gunners. Maybe not F*cked but definitely in deep.

      F14 Tom cat is the one that they steal from an enemy airbase and fight with the 5th gen fighters, aka SU-57 felon. In real life, felon will easily decimate the tom cat within seconds and there's no way the tom cat can win.

    Areobatics an important part of fighter pilots ' training to develop air combat abilities in trainee fighter pilots, specially for dogfight scenarios.
    Yes, it's unfair to compare Tomcat (F-14) with a 5th gen fighter jet, but in case of a dogfight between the two, result very much depends upon the skills and abilities of the fighter pilot that's flying the aircraft. In a BVR combat 5th gen fighter jet can easily shoot down Tomcat(F-14).

Not to be confused to replace actual Training or Flight School. After all, just imagine the possibility an a recruitment tool. Just like the recruitment rise after Top Gun. The most unrealistic thing in Top Gun is his call sign Maverick. You don’t get cool call signs, they’re almost always something embarrassing about the pilot. If he requested the call sign Maverick he would’ve been hazed to the point where he would voluntarily leave the force

    Just spit ballin here but a 5th gen’s advantage is stealth and long range, right? Once they’re a couple hundred feet away that goes away so wouldn’t attacking them unexpectedly make it possible?

    • @sbeprecisionproducts6729
      @sbeprecisionproducts6729 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      5th Gen fighters like the F-22 and SU-57 have far more advanced flight control systems, and thrust vectoring. The F-14 is very big and heavy and lacks any of these advanced systems. In close in dogfights with guns only some fighters like the F-16 or Typhoon may be able to get kills on 5th gen aircraft, however when adding off bore axis missiles like AIM-9X to the 5th gen fighters it becomes very one sided.

    • @Teampegleg
      @Teampegleg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fifth generation fighters are also typically designed to be excellent at ACM, because the current belief is that when two fifth generation fighters meet it will be guns and IR missiles that will decide the fight. That being said they shouldn't give up their advantage by getting close to fourth generation fighter unless the situation requires it, like with the SU57s merge with the F-14 trying to figure out if it is friendly. Once they knew that the F-14 was hostile that third SU57 should've just engaged the F-14 from longer range.
