  • This interview comes from the mysterious KISS black box. Apparently, these black boxes were sent to radio stations with pre-recorded answers to questions so the radio station could appear to be interviewing KISS. I cut out the dead air and cleaned up the audio the best I could. Enjoy!
    Ace coming soon.

this is so far my favourite of these interviews, it was Peter who actually got me into Kiss originally when I saw the clip to Hard Luck Woman and also I played drums because of Peter, yeah this section on Peter is great LUV IT :)

Very cool. Awesome to hear these interviews from the time of the solo albums. Love the solo album period from KISS in 1978.👍

Peters solo album deserves so much more love, as I get older I like it more and more. It’s great.

I think we all can say that gene, Paul , ace , peter were really driven and focused on their individual album and so we got 4 really killer albums! The diversity of each album makes me really appreciate each album and I love each of them! Isn't that what makes kiss! Space ace Ron !!!

Feel the same. So sick of hearing fans say which is best and that Peter's is the worst. I love them all! I think they show the personality of each member and are a time capsule of each members lives in 1978!

I don't love every song but I love how different they are.

The LP covers were incredibly beautiful and the music was very good
no other band had made this before or since !

For me, Ace's is the best solo album, but Peter's album is second, because it has a Motown meets Swing feel to it. Then Paul's, and then Gene's.

As a kid I never realized things I realize now as a adult. Ego's, drugs and alcoholism got the best of Ace and Peter. Greed, money, fame and control got to Gene and Paul.

We didn't know any of the backstage details and it was magic. I wish it was still like that!!

Social Media ruined all that, we hear now about all that happened back then before 2000's but in reality weather they were Rock Stars, Actors, Athletes and just celebrities now a days it's very hard to keep all that happens behind closed doors a secret. Everything is too transparent thanks to cel phone camaras, the internet and people leaking things to TMZ or other media outlets. That mystic is all over now. Like KISS when we were kids the were like Super human, now everyone knows that they mortal and have problems like everyone else. You are right cause all our heroes from the 70's, 80's and 80's were Gods now everyone knows their darkest little secrets.

      @jt20042 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@rob3399905 Exactly! Could you imagine KISS hiding their faces today? It would not be possible. A huge part of the magic was that we didn't know what they looked like! Too much media today and it's killed the mystique.

"I" won a big award for "Beth". From all accounts recording the song was quite the adventure.

Its easy to see the flaws in his thinking now because there's so much history in front of it. But at that time, KISS was a cultural phenomenon that was driven by allot of clever marketing. No member of the band at that time was thinking any of this would pass, or that the band would cease to be a big crowd draw the following year. Apply context before you jump on him for his lofty expectations. They were all thinking that.

Massive fan of the band.. but in my opinion this interview is a window into the world of why he drove his bandmates insane. He would have been very difficult to work with at this point.

Peter was always a bit confused about his own legend musically. He was under the impression he was going to leave Kiss and sell 4 million copies.

What I just got my solo vinyls too!! My order of greatest to worst is Paul, Ace, Peter and Gene. Peters album was great soft Rhythm Jazz, I listen to it when cooking etc. genes is truly trash, I got it just cause it’s a kiss album.

I loved it as a kid! And Out of Control!
Loved Aces too, but Gene and Paul's? Just a couple from each. To be honest, I can't remember a song from Paul's album at all, just totally bland imo
