Received mine safe and sound today thank you - looking forward to installing it at the weekend - all the best, David 👍
Thanks David! Glad it got there OK! Let us know how you get on! :)
I shall await the fitting video David!
Received mine yesterday morning, thank you. Looking forward to installing it when the rain stops! Only observation so far is I do wish Victron would be a little more generous on the terminal sizing - 25mm2 only just fits so adding the Battery Master to the starter side plus the smart shunt monitor of the starter battery is going to be such a fiddle. Unfortunately my hex crimper only goes to 16mm so an extra mm in the terminal bore would have made it much easier. Looking forward to being able to use all the features though, thanks again. Duncan
Glad it got to you OK, Duncan! Agreed on the terminal size. It is not easy to work with.
The size reduction is impressive compared to the 30A model, especially when this one is capable of 50A! I'm considering a B2B to replace the split charge relay setup which my van came with. I'd be very tempted to get one of these (with the output reduced to be suitable for my SLA leisure batteries) as a lithium-ready solution.
Sounds like a good plan! We know a few people that have done something similar.
I wonder if they will be coming out with smaller and cheaper version in the future. A 30 amp with adjustable current at a better price point would be great!
They have not announced anything. They might leave the old Orion Tr Smart as the cheaper option.
Looks to be a little box of wonder.
You said that the Orion 30 non-isolated was unsuitable for boats, yet the XS seems also to be non-isolated. What are the problems?
The non-isolated version requires a common negative/ground (usually a vehicles chassis) for the engine and auxiliary batteries. An isolated version is the usual model used for boats.
Any idea if Victron will be suppling an isolated version of the xs
I'm sure they will be, but they haven't announced anything yet.
