Yeah, that's what I use usually (it's Slaughter there btw) as I said in the description, I only switched to Slaughter temporarily to have some fun killing a triple pack fast. ^^
If you mean you don't have enough fury to Sprint, it's because you have to land on an enemy (or furniture) with Leap, otherwise it doesn't generate fury. Binding a key to Move is to avoid using WW when you don't want to (you shouldn't use WW right away), it's in options, key bindings, gameplay.
The movement speed from the Hurricane Rune is important, but not from boots, pretty sure this work even with 0% MS from items. Assuming you have similar Armor/Res, Attack Speed is important too, make sure you have at least 1.55 attack/second (heal faster with more). Also as you can see at the beginning of the video I spawn 1 or 2 tornado hitting the enemies BEFORE going in, if ou don't you might get oneshot before the first one appear and start healing you.
Using overpower helped heap tons with act 3. Can now solo act 3 decently although those invul / shielding affixes still gives me a lot of trouble. Thanks again :)
Awesome guide Dino! I just tested the build last 2 days and so far everything went fine except for a certain type of elite affix. Arcane lasers - cant seems to keep whirldwind around the elites, since they are protected by the beams and if I cant be hit by the lasers as I would die instantaneously Total AR after shout is around 700-800, Life is 48k, DPS 10-11k
Dude, you are awesome, I'm your greatest fun. I just finished killing diablo with this build. I remember strugling on act 2, than Ghom, but I finally got how to manage. Oh, and I'm using the overpower version, I can just stand in Diablo's fire and rofl on his face. By all means it's not an easy fight and this build is very hard to master, but geez, how it's rewarding.
Yep, you have to run in a wide enough area or no tornado spawn. Once you have a good hang on it though, you can run is a "just big enough" circle around a single mob and still have all 4 tornadoes hit him, or at least 3 (see my diablo kill video, vs the shadow clones).
What do you mean? I'm not killing normal creeps in the video, there's 3 elite/champion packs in there. If you can't spot them, look at nephalem valor going up.
well, played around with this build for like 10 hours today and yesterday :D geared up, i actually have better gear now that you have in the video *g*. but i dropped jump/Overpower for frenzy, i seem to be able to do way more this way... elite packs drop in seconds and i pretty much dont die at all in act 1 + 2. thanks for making me able to play my barb without tanking creeps 10 minutes, making no dmg.
If you get Leap (or even better Overpower, but it's harder to get fury), poison pools won't be such a big problem (or will even help you with OP). Leap gives you fury when you leap on an enemy, so that's pretty simple, just have to avoid missing. For Overpower: I spot enemies, use War Cry, Battle Rage, then go next to the enemies and use Overpower. If it crits enough, you get fury from Into the Fray. Else, I have to get hit 1-3 times to get to 20 fury (about 20-25% life lost), then Sprint.
thanks for this tip Dino, I can't wait to swap to overpower when I get home and try the difference. Starting without rage will be annoying but if it's this powerful it will be so worth it. Currently running 2200 loh 47% crit, 25k dps a3 is very doable but not as easy nor fast as this vid shows
Actually you can critical hit invulnerable minions, so the fury shouldn't be a problem, "just" the health. For most of the packs, with Overpower, if I fully focus the boss I heal just enough to be able to tank the pack (and get no fury problem at all). For hard-hitting packs though, no way around it, gotta run until I find some other monsters to bring into the fray and serve as healing targets.
Crit damage (or even Crit chance) is an huge boost for this build, damage-wise. Not sure about IAS since the nerf but if you have 0, it shoud definitely helps getting a bit on ring/gloves. Prioritize stats on the offhand. Sprint ignore the offhand's dps (thus the Damage stat on character screen lie >_
Armor? With the high movement speed, you can easily get out of the laser area and wait for them to follow you, especially if they are melee. Stop using Sprint/WW while running away and your fury will stay high. With my high LoH and using Overpower, I can tank 3-4 lasers without problems, most of the time I only have to get out if it's Horde + Arcane.
Hi Dino. I like your build and that's why I rolled a barb. Dropped over 40kk and I thought that then this is gonna rock my world. Well. Act 1-2 - easy. Act 3 - quest 1 rolling over me... I got (unbuffed): 2.01 aps, 48.5 crit chance, 362 crit dmg, 5311 armour, 36k dps, 408+ res, 33.5k hp, loh 1350, life steal 2.8%. I know I got low hp but heck, I got high aps, high dms, high armour, good res and loh. I should be fine. Well. I'm not. Whites are smothering me, while elites are tougher than belial
Hey. Well, for me the annoying thing about Rakanoth was how he can suddenly oneshot you with his insane blink attack. Make sure you take Enchantress with your for the Armor Buff. Use Overpower (with Crushing Advance, 30% damage reduction) instead of Leap, since you don't know when he'll attack. If it's still not enough to survive, a bit cheap but rehost the game untill there's a Shrine of Protection at the entrance, next to the waypoint (there's always a shrine).
1) Not sure, could be great if it ticks fast. 2) Attack speed is a big part of the build. The total number of times each Tornado hit is based on attack speed, so the more you have, the more fury and life you'll gain from each Sprint! (Same as damage : it only looks at the mainhand's speed, but the total speed, including the 15% bonus from dualwielding). I try to get some IAS on at least one ring and my gloves, but if you can find a mainhand with it it's a great boost too.Recommanding >1.55a/s
With Into the Fray (battle rage's rune) every Critical Hit has a chance to generate 15 fury. Sprint (and a to lesser extent Whirlwind) hits very often because of their speed, so I'm landing tons of critical hits, and Into the Fray generate 15 fury several times a second. :)
Yeah, I keep Thrive when I'm playing normally too, but Slaughter is fun. :D The proc from slaughter crit for 65k damage in an AOE! This is a huge dps boost since the tornadoes only crit for 5-6k themselves.
Yeah, that's it. With the leap variant : War Cry > Battle Rage > Leap > Sprint > let some fury build up > Sprint again and WW in the pack (keep Sprint up all the time) With Overpower, it's harder : WC > BR > Get close to ennemies and use OP, if it crit enough you'll have enough fury, otherwise get hit 1-3 times > Sprint > same as above.
Yeah, some monsters stop if you go too fast, you gotta slow down a bit on purpose. I don't play like that normally btw, I just kill the packs one by one, or 2 by 2 sometimes, probably faster than gathering 4 at once, cooldown on WotB isn't that big. Just gathered 4 for the video. :P
Well, they specifically chose to have Run like the Wind use 20% of the LoH per hit, and 20% chance for Into the Fray. But that number is way too big imo. Each tornado hit about 20 times with my weapon (maybe 15 post patch?), so that's 400% of the LoH if you keep a monster in one. And there's 4 tornadoes per Sprint! With a very fast weapon, you can even hit almost 30 times per tornadoes.
Yeah, great thing about enchantress is that the armor aura (and attack speed aura too) works even when she's dead :P Yeah, try Nerves of Steel if you're still having troubles tanking, should make it easier.
ok thanks for the tip, yeah i kinda figured but im also thinking that maybe the loot drop will be greater when more mobs go down all at once?? aint sure if thats how it works
Weapons Master only look at your mainhand (and aply the same bonus to both weapons) so the offhand type doesn't matter (though faster is better, so dagger is great)
No I meant when I did it... It gets a little trickier the less creeps you have obviously. I find it to work MUCH better when you have at least 50 creeps on your tail... Also it's easier to fight all three packs at the same time rather than fighting them pack by pack.. the more creeps there are the easier.
Wow, 52 millions! I got my whole gear for 6-8 millions. The price raised a bit but you can probably get similar stuff for 10m still. With 52, you're golden. ;)
With the rune I usually use on Wrath of the Berserker (Thrive), I can keep it up for as long as I want, and it makes you immune to stuns, freezes, vortex, ... so you can just ignore these affixes! :) With the Leap version, it's easier, the cooldown is pretty short so you can just leap to get some fury back. With Overpower it can be a bit harder. Usually there's a few tornadoes left when you get to 0 that can bring you back.Or use Overpower and hope it crit/get hit. Try to stop using WW before 0.
youre the best DiNO2009!! ^_^ you save my life weeeeee.. never thought i could tank well.. and do damage.. and the best part is doing the whirlwind whahaha!! makes the barbarian wicked sick and not boring!! ^_^
Easy solution : when only the boss is left (probably low hp) stop using WW. Just use Sprint. It does a lot of damage already (more than WW) and you should be able to gain more than enough fury to Sprint again. You can even WW from time to time if you get to 100 fury. Hard solution : If you spin in a "perfect" circle around an enemy (especially a melee one) you get enough fury to WW all the time. Check out the last few minutes of my latest video (the guide), I do this for a while.
i think superstition is also a great way to generate fury. also @vitherer make sure you are spawning tornadoes, if there are no tornadoes, you will die.
Hello Dino, you are so amazing!! I have a question what if you get freezed or stunned and could not move? Also when I tried on your build, I could not perform as well as you do because I always ran out of fury and we do not have a fury generator. What can I do when I run out of fury and could not sprint?
Yeah, it works, but less imo (expect maybe with a Stormshield) : With the second 1H you can get a lot of LoH, Crit Damage, Strength or even Vitality. It also boost your attack speed by 15%, so your LoH heals you 15% more often. All this help a lot with tanking, probably more than a shield. But if you can't get to 35+% Crit unbuffed with the other pieces, a shield help, yeah.
i like how u changed to slaughter rune more damage faster to kill but i like being in beast mode for 10 stright minutes lol. ill try it out tonight to see if i notices faster mob killing
With the one in the video (Slaughter) yeah, pretty easy but you have to use the 2 minutes cooldown. With the usual one, nope, can't in Act 3, but maybe with better weapons.
Get Enchantress for the armor boost aura if that's not the case (an you play solo). All your stat are pretty fine, you should be able to beat Inferno no problem. :) Try getting to 6k armor and 600 minimum resist to be sure you can tank anything, if you feel you need more tanking. Then you can just boost DPS, everything else is great ^^. You don't mention your CritDamage%, but it's a great way to boost your DPS if it's not too high already.
hey dino plz tell us what to do first : war cry > battle rage > here i have a problem sometimes not enought fury but if there is i am moving and spining the tornado with sprint > then ww all over if neeseserly i use wotb but now i dont know how to manage my skills right plz help me..
DiNo doesn't need to reply this. You can farm Act3 with like 5m gear if you play right, with 50m you can butcher it all, just take your time to learn the build because some stat choices are not obvious. I wouldn't dump 50m and then regret I forgot this or that.
hey Dino do you have any tips on how to kite mobs? like at 55 sec of the video you have all the elite packs right by the tele... when ever i try to kite mobs into other mobs they seem to give up and just stand around..
Yeah it does, and Sprint too, but this is post nerf and still going strong as you can see. :P Monsters' damage/abilities got nerfed harder than attack speed anyway.
Crushing Advance. Reduce all incoming damage by 30% and trigger LoH while reflecting damage. Amazing tanking, better fury generation and dps. Harder to start fights than with Leap, but that's the only downside.
oh one thing though, sometimes sprint glitches and although i run around a monster, no tornadoes ever spawn in the 3 seconds...do i have to move away from it a certain distance? i tested it a couple times, seems like you can't run in a tight circle, you have to move a decent distance
Dps/aps/critdmg are amazing, most of the cost must come from here, but your res are pretty low (and LoH average but high aps should make up for it). Try getting to 500 res, doesn't seems like much but should make a big difference. Also, since your life is a bit low, maybe the problem is that you die before having enough tornadoes spawned to sustain you. Try spawning a few on enemies before engaging, like I do from 0:02 to 0:05, that way you'll already be healing when you engage.
So I have been working with this build for a few days now, gradually getting better gear. I was able to take on a blue and yellow pack on act 3 inferno while my two buddies with my were dying/gaulking/cackling. I do not think I am doing enough damage, especially when it is just the yellow guy left over. Which is more important for dmg in this build...IAS, strength, or crit dmg? Just off the top of my head I have zero IAS, 240% crit dmg, and 900 str, as well as 45% crit buffed.
Once you manage to generate enough fury, you'll survive way better, more LoH. Use Sprint only at first, not WW. Spawn a few tornadoes, let you fury get to 100 then start spinning, and always have Sprint and Battle Rage up (even when using WW).
Switch Leap to Overpower/Crushing Advance for Ghom. Makes the fight hilarious. Ghom poison clouds damage you like, 50 times a second, and each time Crushing Advance reflects 30% and TRIGGER YOUR LoH! The poisons clouds become healing clouds as long as Overpower is active. I was getting healed for 75k HP/s when I tried it. xD If you crit often enough you'll have Overpower on all the times and be invincible. PS : I can kill him with Leap too with my stats, but Overpower is way easier.
1) Nope, it use the offhand's, but just for half of the hits. And since Sprint do most of the damage, you really don't lose much when going for a low dps offhand. 2) It does, but it's pretty hard to get to 5. If you manage to get 25% from items, you'll probably spawn 5, not sure what stats your would be sacrificing though. 3) Getting, say, +100% (to 360%) will boost your damage as much as getting from 1000 to 1220 Strength. A calculator for this would be nice. :P
One other question: do you think maybe there is a bug in Run Like The Wind causing it to proc LoH (and Into the Fray) more often than it should? Or do you feel like this is all working as-designed?
Yeah, Leap is more fun at least, I love jumping around fast. :P But Overpower is stronger. I can tank better (and it's always on, not half the time like Leap), I gain a lot more fury, do more damage,... than when I used Leap. Plus mobility isn't really a problem with +70% movement speed and the ability to run (spin) through enemies.
Yeah, Overpower is an amazing defense boost. You'd tank as if you had about 50% more armor or res, and even better vs champions with dots (desecrator,...)
Same as usual, Weapons Master, Ruthless and Nerves of Steel. Could get a bit more dps by switching Nerves of Steel but I thought it was high enough. :P
I do enjoy this setup. I still have issues with the shaman elite packs and runners in act 3, but everything else gets mulched. Just finished act 3 inferno today. Any way I could add you?
just wondering if movement speed is necessary? been making great progress with this build, im up to the same act in this video, but having quite the trouble running around without dying so fast, was thinking if my LOH 1500 is low so its not healing as fast, or that im too slow to run away.
is it just me or does the build in your calculator link include Ignore Pain with Mob Rule rune? because I don't understand the reason for the rune choice : /
this build is very viable. I was able to complete act 1-3. Major cons though, its hard if not impossible to kill goblins before they get away and also range/kiting/shield elites are you worst enemies. They take several times longer to take down and takes too much effort to kill. If you die, they will probably restored to full if not around 90% hp.
Hey DiNo, i seem to have troubles with invul minions..do you have any tips for that? I dont generate enough fury nor health on those packs..what i usualy end up doing is getting some extra mobs on me, but thats not always the option. Thanks in advance
With Thrive out of the equation, is it really so important to have Into the Fray? I wonder what might happen if you swapped it for Bloodshed and used a Mighty Weapon for fury gen.
Hey mate I have been playing double tornado style for a a fortnight now since i saw your video and im stuck at rakanoth do you have a tactic for him cause i am struggling!
Yeah, a mighty weapon (+ weapons master) is probably enough, but I still use Thrive most of the time. Can't kill some Jailer/Vortex/... pack in under 15s, and then they own me, when I use Slaughter. No such problem with Thrive.
Don't forget or replace Overpower/Crushing Advance, it's a big defense boost. With your stats you should have no problem tanking even when staying in the middle. (Check my latest video, I posted a gameplay guide, might help)
Hey Dino really g8 vid, pls can you give me some advices: how important is dps on second hand weap ? at the bridge farming zone (inferno act III) i usually start running and tring to stuck some elites, but if they are ranged it happens that i kill all the normal ones and than i finish rage and get killed(now i use zeker with time extend rune, i tried with slaughter but nothing change)...Stats:DPS20k(w shout)Armor5,6k(w shout)Res550-750(w shout)Life41k,LoH1800,Crit42,5%(w shout),Attackspeed1,74
Should be fine, but barely. Try getting 450 res, make sure you spawn 4 tornadoes everytime you sprint and keep Overpower up all the time. (you need more armor and res if you don't use Overpower)
i have lower stats and im able to rofle stomp inferno mobs in a3- it takes a little practice but it does work unless there are some elites with impossibly insane mods.
ok so, i bought some decent gear, not the best, my dmg is low ~12k dps, crit chance is 39.50, crit dmg is a little over 100%, life on hit is a little over 1k. but i cant seem to get Sprint to work after doing War cry > Battle rage > leap... You mentioned something about key binding move with space bar, i have no idea how to do that?! help plz
okay, i've run into a few problems. Im at 55k HP, 20kdps, 1.7k LoH, and over 40% crit... My biggest problem is that everything dies before the boss dies and I can't keep up WW and have no primary. Then i switched to frenzy primary and dropping overpower but then I can't survive.
ok.. this method works with normal creeps.. but then when there are elite or champion packs it's not so effective anymore, it would take more than 2 minutes just to kill them, not to mention having to survive ( i have 1700 life on hit so I think it's reasonable... )
.. its not like i hit frenzy all the time, i hit with it maybe 5 times till i got enough fury to whirl myself through everything, or to finish of one creep where whirling would be wasting fury. and act 3 is also do-able with this build, i just don't do it at moment, because i rather farm 1-2.
Well look at eg. 0:35, still works great :P. It's harder though, yeah, you need to practice to be able to spin the right way around an enemy so that all the tornadoes hit him and you don't have any fury problem, but once you're used to it single enemies become easy too! (except those damn shamans,... who flee everytime they are hit >_
Thanks a lot for these guides Dino!
You are doing an amazing job at passing on these hard to grasp aspects! Great educational skills imo. Keep it up!
Yeah, that's what I use usually (it's Slaughter there btw) as I said in the description, I only switched to Slaughter temporarily to have some fun killing a triple pack fast. ^^

i think superstition is also a great way to generate fury. also @vitherer make sure you are spawning tornadoes, if there are no tornadoes, you will die.
Leap more way better than Overpower man, the mobility is priceless.
Hello Dino, you are so amazing!!
I have a question what if you get freezed or stunned and could not move?
Also when I tried on your build, I could not perform as well as you do because I always ran out of fury and we do not have a fury generator. What can I do when I run out of fury and could not sprint?
Yeah, it works, but less imo (expect maybe with a Stormshield) :
With the second 1H you can get a lot of LoH, Crit Damage, Strength or even Vitality. It also boost your attack speed by 15%, so your LoH heals you 15% more often. All this help a lot with tanking, probably more than a shield.
But if you can't get to 35+% Crit unbuffed with the other pieces, a shield help, yeah.
Both (alternating), but Sprint only does damage based of the main hand.
i like how u changed to slaughter rune more damage faster to kill but i like being in beast mode for 10 stright minutes lol. ill try it out tonight to see if i notices faster mob killing
With the one in the video (Slaughter) yeah, pretty easy but you have to use the 2 minutes cooldown.
With the usual one, nope, can't in Act 3, but maybe with better weapons.
2-3 mobs is enough to generate fury for WW (or even a single big one). Check my latest video, it's a gameplay guide for the build.
With class
(Or see the video guide link in description)
Get Enchantress for the armor boost aura if that's not the case (an you play solo).
All your stat are pretty fine, you should be able to beat Inferno no problem. :)
Try getting to 6k armor and 600 minimum resist to be sure you can tank anything, if you feel you need more tanking.
Monsters' damage/abilities got nerfed harder than attack speed anyway.
hey, does this build also works with life leech instead of loh?
and keep up the great work =)
Crushing Advance.
I was getting healed for 75k HP/s when I tried it. xD
If you crit often enough you'll have Overpower on all the times and be invincible.
But Overpower is stronger.
Any way I could add you?
life on hit, overpower
just wondering if movement speed is necessary? been making great progress with this build, im up to the same act in this video, but having quite the trouble running around without dying so fast, was thinking if my LOH 1500 is low so its not healing as fast, or that im too slow to run away.
Gr8 xD many thanks i'll try asap, and about stats... what do you think i should boost ?
is it just me or does the build in your calculator link include Ignore Pain with Mob Rule rune? because I don't understand the reason for the rune choice : /
this build is very viable. I was able to complete act 1-3. Major cons though, its hard if not impossible to kill goblins before they get away and also range/kiting/shield elites are you worst enemies. They take several times longer to take down and takes too much effort to kill. If you die, they will probably restored to full if not around 90% hp.
ye i guess its the only way with this build. Thanks for the reply! I hope i get some phat lewt soon so i can upgrade my poor gear :S
Hey DiNo, i seem to have troubles with invul minions..do you have any tips for that? I dont generate enough fury nor health on those packs..what i usualy end up doing is getting some extra mobs on me, but thats not always the option. Thanks in advance
tnx for such reply. can u tell that attack speed would be better combined with life stolen or life per hit?
With Thrive out of the equation, is it really so important to have Into the Fray? I wonder what might happen if you swapped it for Bloodshed and used a Mighty Weapon for fury gen.
Hey mate I have been playing double tornado style for a a fortnight now since i saw your video and im stuck at rakanoth do you have a tactic for him cause i am struggling!
Lucky dodge on that frozen near the end, lol.
i got the fury but as i've said when there are elite or champion packs i just die when I pass through them because it takes so long to kill them
Yeah, a mighty weapon (+ weapons master) is probably enough, but I still use Thrive most of the time.
Hey Dino really g8 vid, pls can you give me some advices:
how important is dps on second hand weap ?
at the bridge farming zone (inferno act III) i usually start running and tring to stuck some elites, but if they are ranged it happens that i kill all the normal ones and than i finish rage and get killed(now i use zeker with time extend rune, i tried with slaughter but nothing change)...Stats:DPS20k(w shout)Armor5,6k(w shout)Res550-750(w shout)Life41k,LoH1800,Crit42,5%(w shout),Attackspeed1,74
I use bash instead of overpower and I can only do a1.. Does changing it to overpower really make a difference?
how do u generate fury from the start
Should be fine, but barely. Try getting 450 res, make sure you spawn 4 tornadoes everytime you sprint and keep Overpower up all the time. (you need more armor and res if you don't use Overpower)
so ive gotten the build down pretty well, BUT i keep disconnecting from game?!? could this be from whirlwind bug??
i have lower stats and im able to rofle stomp inferno mobs in a3- it takes a little practice but it does work unless there are some elites with impossibly insane mods.
ok so, i bought some decent gear, not the best, my dmg is low ~12k dps, crit chance is 39.50, crit dmg is a little over 100%, life on hit is a little over 1k.
but i cant seem to get Sprint to work after doing War cry > Battle rage > leap... You mentioned something about key binding move with space bar, i have no idea how to do that?! help plz
switch insanity rune for thrives on chaos for longer zerker, the damage from insanity is not needed in that build IMO
okay, i've run into a few problems. Im at 55k HP, 20kdps, 1.7k LoH, and over 40% crit... My biggest problem is that everything dies before the boss dies and I can't keep up WW and have no primary. Then i switched to frenzy primary and dropping overpower but then I can't survive.
a dagger in 2nd hand? why not a mace or axe for the crit bonus
Wouldn't ask for help if my stats were good enough to do act 3 now would I?
Yea, you can configure all of those independently.
Does whirlwind only do damage based off of main hand ?? or both hands ???
ok.. this method works with normal creeps.. but then when there are elite or champion packs it's not so effective anymore, it would take more than 2 minutes just to kill them, not to mention having to survive ( i have 1700 life on hit so I think it's reasonable... )
still awesome build!
So how do you kill Treasure Goblins in Inferno using this build?
how do you gain fury from the get go?
hey, whats more important on a weapon for this build? critical damage or attackspeed?
Hey, i'd like to know what gear you are using in this video if thats possible. Im really interested.
And how much it'd cost.
.. its not like i hit frenzy all the time, i hit with it maybe 5 times till i got enough fury to whirl myself through everything, or to finish of one creep where whirling would be wasting fury. and act 3 is also do-able with this build, i just don't do it at moment, because i rather farm 1-2.
Life on Hit (stat found on items)
can this build be used with a one hadn with crit shield?
Well look at eg. 0:35, still works great :P. It's harder though, yeah, you need to practice to be able to spin the right way around an enemy so that all the tornadoes hit him and you don't have any fury problem, but once you're used to it single enemies become easy too! (except those damn shamans,... who flee everytime they are hit >_
