This helped me out a lot. I was a barb stuck at around 600-700 AR who couldn't get past Act 2. Now I'm on my way to gearing up for act 3. Just need to get myself a better shield, justice lantern, and helm of command and I'm all set! :D

Just FYI, I don't know if it's been discussed already, but @ the AH you can search for specific BUYOUT limits by putting a number (example: 200000) on the -Max Buyout- on the lower left hand corner of the AH screen, even if it's not a Set.

Great video, and just one tip for the Auction House: If you set a buyout amount for like 1 bilion or whatever, the game will show only the auctions with a buyout. This way you don't have to keep scrolling through the pages.
Thanks for the encouragement. Funnily enough I actually had a legendary helm drop back in nightmare/hell which I sold for around 450k. That was what got me started in terms of gearing for inferno. But farming act 1 really hasn't given me ANY gear thats capable of selling for more than 200k at BEST. Most my drops are 99% crap with maybe one or two capable of selling for 20-30k at most. Im basically really just farming gold so I can buy better gear...but the process is so slow.
Question for you.... when setting up your skills how is it that you can have two might and two defensive skills? Am i missing something important here. It appears you don't use your rage or secondary... or was this changed in a patch or something?
Just a question, how did you fund all that gear? Good Stormshields go for 10m (yes I know you dropped yours), Helm of Command range fro 3-5m with good stats, Justice Lantern is around 2-3m and I've seen String of Ears go up to 10m with 20% reduce damage.

Very helpful video. I never took strength as a serious damage dealer, but for my defensive armor. Vitality and resistances should be the priority items every Barbarians players. When I got on to Nightmare difficulty I changed my first priority from vitality to resistances. Other note, the Wizard and Demon Hunter class are so fragile. When playing in three person Co-op the Demon hunter dies so quickly. They have cool range attacks. I'm also playing Wizard, but Barbarian is by far my favorite.
Something with 25% or more block would be good, all resists also 50+ if possible. Vitality/%life/str/armor. Any or all of those stats. Also reduction to dmg from melee is always great but I'm not sure if that's a common stat on other non-legendary items.
My barbarian sux at lvl51, I have 800+ streng and 600+ vitality 30+ resistance 1 handed 138dmg sword(made from black smith) and a shield. having trouble with nightmare act 4 not killing anything. What am I doing wrong? Also, what does 1 weapon on each hand do? Does it just make you hit faster?

Hi zravex. I enjoyed your videos and have been trying to build a similar tank barb, but I seem to be doing something wrong. I have 9604 armor, resists between 584-744 (744 is fire), 46% total block, 300 life per hit, and about 53k HP. But I can't do Act 2 without dying a lot, seems like elites hit me for nearly half my HP. I have the same build as you. Why do you think I take so much damage?
i am playing a barbarian myself and i am intrested in dpsing with him. however i dont know if i will be able to deal with mobs in higher lvls. i mean are barbarians a viable dps or should i stick to tanking?

you need more HP - the effectiveness of resists starts to taper off around 75% damage reduction, which is somewhere around 800-900. You need a bigger HP pool so that you can take more hits. Skills like revenge, runed charge, and runed overpower heal based on your max life, which will keep you alive.

FYI for you and anyone else who is annoyed by the auction house buyout sort. If you put a value in "max buyout" it will only show those with buyouts... so if you put in like 10,000,000 or something, then you can use the smallest to largest filter and it will sort without the N/As
Ive been so lucky yesterday. I got a helmet of command with: - 86 vit - 8% block - 58 prism - 9% life - empty socket It only has 360 def but for 4 mil on the AH this was a huge buyout
Still iffy about buying alot of defensive gear if they are gonna decrease the spikey damage of inferno, might be worth holding on to some money until 1.03 and seeing what happens first.

Hey I am having a really hard time in act 3 on my barb and wondering if you could help me out, would really appreciate it - I have 50k health, 10.4k armour, 1100 to all resists (1250 fire resist) and 10k dps - Now I watch stat benchmark video's like this and say they are clearing act 4, while I have as good, or better stats and simply can not stand toe to toe with an elite for more than 4 seconds. 3 legendaries with % to block really what it takes to live past act 2?
as a act 4 inferno barb, i had a suggestion, that may have alreay been sugested. u said str and or damge is not as important as defence stats, i disagree with that. the best defense is a stroung offensive. i have 20k health and can kill anything in act 4. im on my phone so i dont want to get in to a big discussion, but just wanted to say vit is a waste stat, place less value on it.
I would recommend doing this when searching also. I don't get why people post stuff without any buyout price set. Rule no.1 when setting game auctions: _always_ set a buyout price. Buyers are lazy and impatient and often CBA messing around with auctions, having a buyout means they can have instant gratification and greatly increases chances of a sale for you, even if you set the buyout quite high :)

900k tank build act1 only. 450-500 dex,300-400 int,800-900 str,900-1000 vitality shield with at least 22%block a weapon that does at least 650dmg , 9k armor 150 resistall. listen to him for act 2 and up my way is just cheaper for act 1.My build is the same as ZraveX so i appreciate it.subbed dex&int doesnt work act 2 as well so pay for resistall.cheap/solo was the focus kiting is necessary on some elite.health 40-50k life% is a must.This is good if ur like me and only made 5million overall.

had an awesome build in Hell where I crit all the time and was a destroyer as berserker. Inferno? I died in an instance. It had hard to let that build go but this defense build does help a lot.
The dmg you do is with your right weapon (that 1 shows in the stats if im correct), the other weapon is its own damage + effects, no special attack speed bonuses if Im correct. In most cases I know a good shield is better than a good second one hander. If youre in for pure dmg go with a 2 hander I guess. I would keep using a shield and a one hander. Also try different techniques/builds playing your barbarian. Try to get about 100K gold and buy a better 1 handed weapon from the auction house.
If u wanted to search only for items with buyouts put a value in the max buyout box. so say You don't want to spend more than 50000 on a belt type that into the max buy out ect surprised someone with this type of gear didn't realize this function...
resists are too low m8 truly 950+ is a NEED and how high is the block amount on your shield? i play a similar build to his but less defence and more dps only 35k life 25%block but good life regen (800sec) 20k dpsand i don't die alot (bein a tank does not mean u will stand in front of elites and stand and don't die.. you will still have to kite a little wating for cd's and so on)
You find a good item and sell it. On inferno, it could take half anout per run and you get from 5-10 rares and maybe once every 4 runs, you will most likely find an item that will sell for a lot.
vitality is more important that %life for a barb because of the passive skill called "Nerves of Steel". Increases your armory by 100% of your vitality. If your vitality is at 1000, you increase you armor by 1000.
trust me when i say you need 1 weapon and one shield or just 2h but i use shield and weapon then u have more def and faster, you really need to buy stronger weapon like 200.0 is at least for ur level in act 4 on nm ur skills, you need frenzy with heals you rune cuz you are not higher level to the best, and whirlwind with the next rune after faster thingy. then battle rage with first rune. wrath of the berserk with the last rune of them. revenge with vengeance is mine and ignore pain with any!
most people run with the iron hide, make the duration last up to 7 sec i believed. personally i find that run to be the most usefull. but from where i can see everyone one els uses' it too.
BTW: Did you see how Kungen died? Alt-tabbed out of the game without pressing Escape. >_< Man, that must have been painful. Anyways, you got yourself a subscriber. Thanks for all the awesome videos.
My advise is to stick to tanking the other dps classes are ranged unlike the barb sidearm isnt really effective for range compensation because you dont control where it goes.Thats my opinion not a fact.

I read your guide and you say berserker rage is also a good passive but what do you usually go with?

hey i have around 700 resist all and 50k life and i still cant complete all mobs in act 2 , maybe leap and groundstop are not good?

If you put in your max buyout on the search it doesn't display all the no buy outs, also keeps you from having to see all the shit you can't afford.

setting a max buyout (anything you want) will exclude all auctions without a buyout, that show N/A. Makes AH easier.

In priority order: All Res., Vit, Life %, Life on Hit (LoH), Str, Armor, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, Movement Speed.
i have 750-900 resist, 52k hp, 700 life per hit and still no ready for act 3..
You can put a huge number for max buyout (say 9999999999) to remove auctions with no buyout.
Actually 30% is the amount total. The 8% is added into that.

woopsy i forgot to mention i have alot of attack speed increase pieces 3 total all atleast 13% this will affect ur dps greatly.
I´m farming act 1 with DPS in around 10K, and around 8K armor ang from around 268.around 350 resist :) So the risist rule of thumb don´t make sence :)

I wouldn't say so. It doesn't help your survivability at all, takes up an attribute slot and it's very mediocre dps, especially at single target.
Very interesting, I start to sacrifice some strenght on my rare to buy blue with 80 res all boots for only 10k gold.
