One of the things I'm jealous of with new builds is how clean and shiny new everything is. Even when my 50-year-old house is clean, there's still parts of it that I can never actually get clean as the floors are too old and scuffed, and there's a build up of water stains on the shower glass. I dream of getting the bathrooms completely redone in a couple of years, haha. In saying that, I still love our house and one of the nice things about getting an older house is the nice feeling that it's already seen a family grow and create memories in it. In our (very old) converted attic, there are these small hooks in the ceiling, and it's where the old owner's daughters' wedding dresses hung before they were married
Yes definitely agreed easier to keep looking clean - but so many pros and cons to both things - one day I think we will do a renovation for character and making a family home - we’ll see 🙈😍 love that so cute xxx
I had the same problem with my postcode. It took ages that insurance companies and other places started recognising it. I still can't order take aways as Google Maps don't show it. I definitely recommend to submit it as soon as possible. I was surprised that my builder haven't done that. Great videos! This video is very helpful for people who are or want to buy a new build. We brought our 1st house (new build) we love our house! I agree with you the snags can be a bit of a pain. Its crazy prices for the upgrades. We viewed a big developer and they said it's around £90,000 for the upgrades we wanted. We ended up buying from a small development and had everything upgraded for free. I love your vlogs! Your house is looking lovely x
Nice video, if only I had someone else who was sorting out the snagging issues with my self build, I just have to keep nagging myself to get them sorted, altough my wife also helps with nagging me to get them done 🤣. I do agree with being able to choose all your own fixtures, fittings decor etc. They're the things that really make a house feel like home. Don't blame you for not paying for the upgrades through the builder, like you said no way a granite work surface would cost what they quoted, best to sort yourself. Way cheaper and when you've done it you realise it's actually not that hard to do anyway.
Another pros you did not mentioned and I tried to advise people! Never signed a survey from the developer until all your snagging is resolve and you are satisfied. Because your solicitor keeps some of 3% to 5% of your money once you signed the survey they will released it to the developer.
Hi there! Could you possibly tell me what was exactly included in your new build that you would normally pay for? I had flooring, kitchen lights, granite work surface, burglar alarm, and one fitted wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom. Im not sure if that is a good deal or not?
Hey! Yeah sure! We had flooring and appliances, I think what you’ve just described sounds like a good deal! We were quoted 1800 per wardrobe and 1000 for stone worktop!
Hi Beth and Joe, this series has been so helpful as I’ve just reserved my first house with Linden Homes. I have a quick question about the flooring, did you get the flooring and carpet at no extra cost and not have to pay to upgrade ? My sales agent has said for any flooring at all I have to pay more which is obviously a lot more expensive, did you get any standard flooring and carpet options at no extra cost? Any help would be massively appreciated
Hi Julia! I would say in our house the actual storage space could be better. We have a cupboard under the stairs which is handy but apart from that, not much aside from spaces for fitted wardrobes.

We didn’t pay for any of it no but think we got some extras as we didn’t get any stamp duty help? Not sure if that helps you x
