Can you give some advice of property in Canberra ? I plan to go to Canberra for retirement in 1 to 2 years time. I like properties close to bus stops or light rail stations though I may drive. Thanks in advance.
Canberra is a city built for Federal Government and there are only 2 types of people living there: Federal Government servants and staff/students for Canberra University. Don’t be cheated by the scenery there as the street is deadly quiet after office hour and on holidays. Reason is people there would try every means to go out to neighbouring cities when they are free. It’s city central is very small. It has light rail system there. Try to find places near the light rail hubs so that you have better mobility. In general, it’s a place too quiet for retiree.

Thanks Wilson for advising on location of transportation convenience in Canberra. I stayed in Canberra a few weeks. I know it is very quiet. I will find a church there to make friends. Of course, I also go to church in HK.
Far Western area, low socioeconomic area which is packed with Nepalese, Indian, middle east people; people swear a lot, weird looking and drug users / dealer

冇錯,唔止Rhodes, 大部分地方以前都是工業區,包括Wenthworth Point, Mascot, ... 等等。不過Rhodes 等地在政府準備2000年奧運會以前已搞好。

Ryde 和Epping 當然是好區,我睇一房應該由65萬起跳,除非該大廈條件好差。Olympic Park 幾寕靜,不過我估都要58 ~ 60 萬起。

就是遠了點。但如果生活工作都在附近也是不錯的選擇呢。
就像 KP 所說,這是Metro train 新幹線開發出來的suburb. 治安大體OK. D壞人搞嘢都唔會去到咁遠。所以要睇你是否需要工作,如果要,就有D遠。不過針冇兩頭利,沒有又靚又近城的,只可二取其一。純粹住當然OK.

Canberra houses are more pricy due to the demand vs supply, and overall less support vs Sydney. Any reason why you wana go Canberra in particular?

我有朋友 真係由Eastwood 賣咗間屋然後搬咗去Gosford 以賺其差價。個度環境又係幾好嘅,風境靚,找工作只有一種可能,就是如果你是醫䕶人員,可以在Gosford 醫院工作,我朋友正正就是護士,去邊都會找到工作,其他工種就免問了,要出番黎Sydney 找。
住在Gosford 要有斷六親的打算,你的Sydney 朋友最多一年會探你一次,因為火車單程由Sydney 到Gosford 站都要1.5 hours,未計落車後你要揸車去火車站接佢。如果子女住Sydney, 可能每三個月先來探你一次,所以它平得來是有代價的。

租金現時真的是受疫情影響而下跌,但這只是短暫影響。買樓按揭一般做20 年到30 年,是長線投資,所以兩者現時沒有掛鈎。相反,有D實力派襯現時少人爭,所以D樓去得好快,五、六月樓價已經重新上升。
