    The idea that Grim was created on purpose is crazy to me, like i can only imagine he appeared one day as a chaos entity and we've had to deal with him since (i absolutley adore him in case ya couldnt tell)

    Honestly, I’m leaning more towards the idea that grim was some kind of powerful monster that had his powers sealed away via the spell as a means of containment. Perhaps his true power can only be unleashed via blot accumulation, but since his power has been reduced, to such an extent that he can’t accumulate blot naturally, he must consume external sources of blot like blot crystals in order to overcome the seal containing his true potential. This sorta coincides with the idea that the tutorial beast is Grim, or at least related to him.

    My sleepy brain is like...
    Brain: "So they are deadly to humans when touched?...Why do I feel Crowley would pick them up with his hands to prove he wasn't human. As well as more connections to what he really is."
    Also Brain: "heheheh....Grim is experiment 626...."

    I have a theory that Grim is related to the Chimera, a monster of ancient Greek mythology, one of the child monsters of Echidna, the mother of all monsters. This is indicated by his changed appearance during the training battle, where he is clearly the main boss (and a VERY strong one at that). In this form, he has more traits of different animals, including those associated with past overblots. Dragon breath and wings, a snake tail instead of a trident, a lion's mane and body, blue fire, black tentacles and bird-like hind legs. I, too, am more inclined to think that Grimm is an artificially created monster, possibly with the help of alchemy and magic. Maybe it was some kind of experience or experiment related to blot, which is why Grimm has such an attraction to black stones.

    id like to also add that maybe Grim is the Canary to the Perverbial Coalmine that is the blot.
    like he's not only meant to deal with blot, but Grim being drawn to an area ((coughcoighNRCcoughcough)) is a good warning for blot levels and then Styx can help deal with it accordingly.

    if grim was created to safely dispose of blot crystals i can see his episodes actually being due to eating too many of them in a short amount of time. perhaps he was abandoned because he wasn't processing them fast enough? sure the amount of over-blots happening at the school is absurd but for all we [well... I... I am not caught up] know these things don't wear away or deteriorate, thus resulting in potentially tens or even hundreds being held in storage like nuclear waste and why would who-ever created grim make more to go through them if they ended up showing signs of being affected a mere half dozen in? was the theoretical person even aware that grim was simply 'digesting' the others still or did they assume he would naturally reach a breaking point no matter what?
    ... so i took that one thought and ran with it... sorry for the text wall ^~^;

      That's an extremely good point. If blot crystals don't decompose like, where are other blot crystals???

    I have a theory that he was a human but was cursed to be turned into a monster which grows stronger as blot accumulates. He has lost memories of life as human. In chapter 8 yuu will help break the curse and turn him back into human. After yuu returns home grim will become the new mc.

    I honestly thought that the spell is a reference to Beauty and the Beast like the prince who got cursed.
