This is an overview of the new Vans Skate Classics vs the older Vans Pros, using the Sk8-Hi models as an example.
A video review of the Skate Classics Sk8-Hi after they've been skated for a few weeks will follow. I figured it's best to split this topic into two videos so the video isn't absurdly long.
This video is not sponsored or endorsed by Vans or VF Corp.

Ahhhhh! Thank you! Those tongue stretchy thingys look good. I wonder if they’re in the bmx sk8 hi now? And if they’re in all the new skate shoes.
I have the bmx sk8 hi and I like the popcush but I do agree it is a bit high in the heel! Wonder if the new bmx version has the new inner sole.

Thanks for the nice clear review, but does the the new Skate Classic version feel more snug in the heel, supportive in the arch/midfoot, and do your feet feel more stable overall, than the older Pro versions? My feet are narrow/medium, neutral/high arch, and I always had problems with Vans Pro shoes feeling really wide in the heel, and floppy - like clown shoes, just a recipe for heel bruises, primo injury, and rolled ankles. However, I'm really interested in skating the new Skate Classics to see if Vans have made them more like a modern skate shoe.

The answer is yes to all your questions. The fit feels much more improved as well while staying TTS. However, I would definitely try these on in person before buying. I'm planning to do a follow up video after I've had more time skating them.

Great vid, but you didnt touch on the sizing difference. Are there any difference at all? I wear a size 7 in classics so should i get the same size with the skate pro’s? I have no way to try the pros in person cuz i live in the philippines and the sizes are limited so i have no choice but to order online. Your insight would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Very helpful review. Would you say these fit truer to size than the pro's? I've worn vans for 10 years and always been the same size. Picked up a pair of slip-on pros and they made my feet cramp up. I'm scared to invest again if I'm gonna run into the same issue. Maybe a laced pair is the way to go

TTS, but I found the shoe it fit much better (which I'll go into detail in the next video). I would strongly suggest trying them on in person first, as everyone's feet are different.

I know what you mean, the slip ons are tighter around the top of my feet, right up against my ankle. It feels okay but results in cramps I’ve never felt before. However, my skate sk8 his are some of the best shoes I’ve ever had. That’s all around - tho especially for skating

Best thing is if you have a vans store or a trusted skate shop go there tbh , I recently got the half cabs at my vans store and they were 70 dollars. I seen prices going up to 80 in some spots as well. Great review though man

I really notice the plastic heel & plate when driving it almost makes the shoe feel like a boot vs the converse jake johnsons, or the classic chukka pigskins i have....even the chukka pros suck compared to the pigskins bc of that damn rubberized inner toecap they do on those canvas/classics it totally pinches my foot and alters how the foot flexes, i cant run ultrakush with the chukka pros bc of that pinch. Same to the cher slipons way too tight bc of the clearance in the toe area. The sock liner makes these high's fit tighter than the older versions bc of that added material, luckily the box/stitching area where the sides are stitched to the toe cap is flush on the inside and even has its own canvas liner. I used to skate sk8-highs years back before they even sold the pros. The inner liner would always have an overlap of materials and that excess material used to always start rolling over into a lump inside the shoe...that would lead to bruises and make them unskateable. nice to see these SK8 classics are even better build quality than the sk8-mid pros ive had that didnt have as bad of inner material overlap and that toe bruise lump inside the shoe like the non pro classic sk8-highs. But again the non pro chukka classics with pig suede felt and skate better than pro chukkas bc of their damn hardened inner toe cap/liner. I swapped the pro pop cush insoles from my epoch sport pros, into the cher SKATE slip ons which have the low profile same insoles as the SKATE sk8-hi. Those slip-ons paired with the popcush insole had my achilles rubbing, i added the taller PRO popcush insole from the epoch and my achilles clears. Which is fine bc i wanted slightly smaller insoles in the EPOCH to be able to tighten down the laces since theyre replacing gazelles in favor of a more modern/comfort sole.

The Vans SK8 High Raw Canvas (Classic White) is much better than Vans Pro. Duracap & the PopCush are the selling point(s). Well, don't take my word. Feel it to believe it.

*so basically they're the same. And it's better to go with the sk8 hi pros cuz they're cheaper and now pretty much all pros come with pop cush insole*

First pair I ordered were labelled wrong, ordered a size 8, they said size 8 but were literally a 10. Second pair I ordered were a size 8, came in at 6.5 and... the inner wasn't even sewn in around the toe. Whoever or wherever Vans manufacture these it's gotta be some cheap, ass backwards country. Put me off Vans for life, total waste of time.
