I have to agree. I disliked Vans for years because they just hurt my feet. I remember Danny Way talking about this same thing and saying that’s why he left them and why his feet are ruined. The only thing that has changed my mind is some of the newer cupsole shoes. I hadn’t bought a pair in at least 15 years. I’ve been skating the Kyle Walker’s and Elijah Berle’s exclusively for just over a year now. They are by far some of the best shoes I’ve ever skated. The Walker’s are a bit wider than the Berle’s and is probably why I’ve stuck with Elijah’s shoe as of late. I have a feeling that the AVE shoe (cupsole) that just dropped will be as good. Plus, that first color way is icy fresh.
You should probably try the Kyle Walker pro. They have better impact protection than most vans and still have great board feel. I think they’ll fit your style very well.
I love your content Ben you got me back into skating after 10 years and I’m 29 now. It’s still a struggle getting back to where I was before but you have me motivated to keep moving forward and progress. Coming back into it skating my feet were hurting in vans but I just got the Jamie foy new balance 306 and those are very nice and don’t hurt your feet I suggest you try them or do a review. Keep it up Ben can’t wait for the next vid
I LOVE Indys and have never skated anything else. (Any problems they had got fixed with the Stage 11s and Hollow version trucks.) That sole colour is crazy good and I want a pair immediately 😊

Love the video, Ben! I bought a pair of 112s when they dropped, but found that they widened quite a bit after couple weeks, so my feet slid around inside them. I should have got a half size smaller maybe and that would be perfect. But I tried gigantic Osiris and am very happy with them now.
I skate in a pair of Vans Pro skate highs Independent collaborations and the are awesome. Probably my second favorite of all the shoes I’ve skated in. My favorite of all has been Nike SB dunk mids with a Velcro strap.
I had the Vans pro Indy old school high tops, I loved them I got them for 35$ on sale, now I'm on some emericas that are pretty good but super low tops.
The high rising foxing tape seems to be a thing Vans likes to do for grip tape wear. Looks like you tend to angle your feet well during flipping and sliding up the board on ollies such that the foxing tape is what receives the brunt of the wear. I might try adjusting my technique to see if I can start developing that angle for my slip on pros. Thanks for the great content!
112s are probably the best vans out there. They last good, flip well, and look sick. Ive had vans highs slipons and 112s and i can say 112s are the best
I love how Van's feel they are super comfortable for me I like the looser and simple feel also the grip is awesome. the only thing that has me ruffled about them is how expensive they've become it sucks.

Hi again from Sydney Australia, I rock my olive green Diamonds but I wish to ask "if I found a pair of shoes at a skate park can I keep them.??" The right side shoe is all destroyed from kick flicks but the left side shoe is untouched which is the side I use. I think it's meant to be and the skate God's wanted me to find them. Of course I washed them 3 times before using them lol
Ben you should review a madness board! They make some high quality stuff. The impact light boards need some exposure! I don't think I'll ever go back to a regular board now. Even when they get razor tail they still have great pop imo
Around 2002 vans made cup soles, but still with thin waffle under and cushion on top. Best shoes ever, came in a thin variant and a wide one. Cant find them anywhere now. Such a shame. The wide variant was definitely the best for my foot. Looked a lot like an és OG, but thinner sole
They're great. The only thing different between a Conical and a Radial is the Conical has been cut to reduce weight. If you like thinner wheel the Radial slim, Classic or Tablet are proper but if you want a more stable, durable and more hill bomb friendly get a 53 mm or above Radial, or the Conical Full. Lock ins too but they dont look as nice with the asymmetrical sidecut.

ben gets raw in this vid i feel ✌ vans are wildly inconsistent for me comfort-wise. i just buy em at winners on clearance. they make a lot of bad stuff. their marketing + design departments have absolutely lost their minds. vans is kind of a bizarre corporate beast right now
I love the art behind vans but they fall apart so easily. Like quicker than any skate shoe I have ever had. But I am hopeful that they will work on making them more durable.
My fave shoes to skate have been the converse ctas pros, the first two weeks always SUCK because of how massive the chucks toecap is; after that they last FOREVER
ADIDAS..... the best skate shoe (in my opinion). Best look colors and feel and longevity. Vans do have a great sole other then that leaves a lot to be desired. Great boat or deck shoe for its sole but lacks support big time.
No way its just to thin and nowadays there's just no reason for it....I would have to skate in those big DC hightop shoes or I won't be able to walk. These are shoes youn wear to walk to the beach in ...BUT that indie cloud color is legit , that's freaking killer.

I know they're pricey but you should check out the rowely pro rapid weld I'm not into Van's either but they skate like my nb foys but with a more durable outsole
Skate shoes are starting to have some decent tech put inside them. I like it, and I think we skaters deserve it.

try aces with bones medium bushings and indys feel like they don't turn properly. Or actually don't, saves you the trouble

I'd be curious to see what you think of New Balance's vulcanized shoes. Personally, I think their insoles are amazing and help with support.
Vans are a lot more supportive when you swap out the insoles - I drop in gel insoles and no longer get heel bruise.
