The first iteration wouldve completely killed the game and WG actually listened. However i dont have high hopes for this, but there is a chance

Thank you QB for addressing this. TOTT has been 95% of my gameplay for the past year and was my pathway to get T10 tanks to get into competitive gameplay with my clan WG has ground that progress to a halt now…😔
But I like the game bruh.
This is going to hurt new players not long term player, but WG really needs new player so WG is shooting itself in the foot doing this. It is already way to hard to grind out the tech trees let alone the field mods for most players. There is a limit to how much you can make players grind out things in a game, WG constantly pushes that limit, but this is just too much of a nerf to the grind, now and I think WG will find that people may play less now and not pay for what used to be free.

@jandalgaard3251 I am a free to play player, played 45 K games and don't have most tier 9 or tier 10 tanks ground out. I'm also a decent player with a ton of credits, but I save those for the Black Market and other events. I don't like Playing tier 9 and 10s, its hard to make credits, and the teams are easily as bad if not worse than low tiers. So for me it simply a fact that I cannot afford to grind these tanks out and be ready for events, its just too expensive and its very time consuming. Everyone plays the game different, and has different goals, but I think you will find a lot of free to play players feel this way. Now I'm not the target of WG, they might try to get me to spend money but every time they pull this garbage it keeps my wallet closed, so good for those they milk if they want to get milked some more, its their money they can do what they want with it even if it creates bigger and bigger problems for the rest of the player base by incentivising more and more pay to win and pay to skip mechanics.

Thank you for making this video. WG destroyed its own credit. WG pretended to communicate with WOT players by releasing videos for future changes, even established a so called Roadmap Highlight webpage. What a joke!

Tot changes healed me from playing this game, tft took wot place, tot is important for me.

You get all sorts of things via twitch etc. It has never been easier even for f2p. And if you do BP you have blueprints to skip a couple of tanks. So no. This won't change anything other than fewer noobs in tier 10

WG hardly ever stops their predatory actions unless there is a large community backlash
“Small” things like this keep flying under the rug and WG knows this. They’ll keep pushing these small changes that pray on the player base, time and time again.

It's a nice sentiment but look at World of Warships, they outright ruined the game but the whales and sheep still log in every day so WG continues to be stupid on purpose because there is no consequence. So people just leave the game and what's left are the problem people who make it possible for WG to be trash.

remember when SirFoch made a big deal about how he will quit WoT, make an entire video dedicated to announce that, but every now and then he kept crawling back just to milk some content out of it on his streams? yeah if a CC like him can dip that low then I don't think the situation will change any time soon.
problem with this community (WoT community in general) is that people are just all talking but not doing anything, anything significant at least.
to counter my own argument: sure, CCs (like SirFoch) needs to make a living, so they can't just wake up one day and decides to call it quit on WoT. but the rest of you guys, their viewers, don't owe shit to WG. so why in the living hell are the daily player counts has not once reduced by >60% is beyond me. it's not like just watching and not playing WoT will give you cancer or something. I've done it for over a year now and I'm still kicking and screaming. the only time WG hasn't doubled down on their own stupidity was back in the Chrysler K drama, when some journalist actually reported on the situation, hence made WG look bad to the public. that alone should've been a dead giveaway on what type of tactics are WG after. so why hasn't that been replicated even once ever since?
at this point I'm even more disappointed at the community than the gamemakers themselves. y'all need to actually man up and actually stand by your words even just for once.
If I've seen how some game companies work nowadays, my feeling is that WG knew exactly what they were doing, didn't tell the player base about it because the knew they weren't going to like it, and just put it in to the game, and then sayd "oh btw, we did this".
I'd be interested to see a tally/table/chart of "Wargaming's Good Decision vs. Bad Decision" which may be scaled by their importance to player (F2P & not) experience. Maybe at the end of the year, kinda like a scorecard for Wargaming's game design department... I have a feeling they'd get a failing grade for recent years.

Top of the Tree was one of the last straws. Idk how many are left for me, but it's not many. TOTR was something that made the game for bearable.
They should implement the same functionality for the x5 experience booster as the x3 experience booster you get from having a premium account.
Definitely, the 5x xp missions actually stop me from playing some tanks I want to play because I don't want to "waste" that extra xp on a tank thats already fully researched and field modded. It kinda kills the session for me because I "have to" play tanks I don't really want to. I just stopped buying the 5x missions from the token store for this reason.
@@metalbeast99I have over 50 x5 missions left 😅 I just don't pay attention to them anymore. They get used randomly on fully researched T10 or prems or tanks I still need modules or field mods. It's just a nice bonus for me.
But yeah, a button like the x3 for the prem account would be just awesome!
0:16 QB has claimed a couple times now that it's called "To the Top" in the Americas region, but I've never heard it called that. It's been called "On Track" and more recently "Top of the Tree" (copied from EU). They offer associated premium content called "On the Fast Track".
Lol, I've always wondered where To the Top came from as well, since I never heard it about it in the NA server.

Definitely should have an option to activate 5x xp missions like the other boosters, would be so much better and could be added to the same tab.
I have a better idea. After finishing a game (victory), there should be a button for x5 EXP, same thing as for x3 EXP that you receive daily for having a WoT Premium Account. What do you think? :D

They'll never do that because of veterans like me with several hundred x5 missions still in their missions tab after quitting for a decent bit.
19:35 we sort of have this in Warships. You can mount 800% or even 1600% boosters prior to the battle.
Grinding T10 lines is extremely easy in the game.
I believe the reason they removed the x5 exp is to increase the number of premium days as the 5 3x exp will be more valuable now. Previously f2p players can just rely on the 5x exp, now they will need prem days to get a multiplier.
The tott tank selection had been weird for a while. The tvp and cs63 haven't been tott for like 5 years.
It makes sense the ebr has never been tott (arty actually was a couple times a few years back) but Russian IS series tanks also haven't been tott in years. (Is7, 705a and 277). Meanwhile some tanks like the type 5h have been tott 4 times in that period.

Yeah since 2018 I only ever grinded TOTT tanks as it made sense for the discounts. I still don't have Is7 277, Tvp, EBR, Concept 5 (Granted this is new) BZ75, Ho Ri 3, Cs63, Minotauro but I have completed field mods on most of the ones I have, due to as you say, they have repeated the lines several times over.
@@markwherrett4145 So you allow some random tank ToTT dictate what tans you 'want' to play? While the discount is nice... its equally pointless. If I wanted I could purchase every tier X for a faction like the Germans or Soviets at full price right now.
And if I like to play an IS-7, I simply start grinding for that tank... why wait and hope for a ToTT to come around in 3 years to finally start grinding for a tank I've "wanted" to play all along...

Make your own active decisions rather than blame a rather dumbfounded feature on why you dont have xyz.
Hey @skorpion I think you misunderstand me i wasn't blaming at all just pointing out what tott there has been since that time and how lots have been repeated and some never featured. As I say not complaining yoy are right I don't have to go that route entirely my choice. Just thought it maybe useful information for some.

I cannot stress myself how appreciated I am by you making this kind of videos. I was craving for a QuickyBaby youtube video for the last weekend, then I didn´t notice how much you were grinding on Twitch and I thought: "damn, QuickyB hasn´t released a new video yet about anything, then I saw your last video was 3 days ago, and previous that video was another about 2 days ago and on top of that you were streamplaying more than 6+ hours.
I just appreciate how much time and dedication you bring to your videos, explanation and you are basically taking care for all of us, who are kinda new to the game but want to progress somehow.
Wargaming did terribly and I hope they are watching your videos so that they can learn how much frustration their lack of communication, and poor decision on changes are drastically affecting players' moral to continue and as well motivation.
Since, WoT is actually like an addiction, you keep thinking about it, you want to play, you watch videos on YT about it, but when you played you just don´t always feel that excitement you used to have, so it´s kind like a drug. You know you don´t want it, but you crave for it, you wished to have that 60TP, you are craving to do 1500 Dmg with the Grille or ammo rack your enemy, and TTOT was a nice way to "boost" your moral and try to grind the game to your actual goal.
But now, it´s just gone. I hope WG seriously think about it.

The popularity thing cant be the reason, because they have featured all three Battle Pass tanks from this season in TotT at the same time. Obj 140 and JpzE100 last month, M-V-Y this month
I'm not really interested on the M-V-Y or the light Chinese line but I was about to unlock it anyway with the top of the tree. Just for the sake of having all the tanks one day...

been playing for 12 almost 13 years, basically F2P for 10 of those years ~6.5k games but i can say ToTT and the blue print era were the two best times to grind... its sad to see the grind getting longer, playing in a platoon tho does help

I dont know if this is still the case but in regards to the x5 exp games not being able to be paused, in WoT Blitz I'm sure you can either activate a x5 game before you start the battle in the loading screen or after the battle. It would be nice to have this in pc aswell

Honestly, Top of the Tree was the only reason I was still playing. Around 80% of my games played are in tanks featured in TotT. Now there is no reason to play them anymore, so I can retire from WoT.
I have played MANY online games through the years and ALL the games start to die exactly when they take away the joy.
All of this reminds me to when they removed the random chests you used to get after battles from time to time and replaced them with the daily missions. What they did was punishing people for playing a lot.

I uninstalled last week and seeing how WG keeps making things worse confirms I was right.
This could be a double edged sword. I know people who play because it's f2p but who would never pay a cent to play it. They will just stop playing. This is also having a huge imparct on the battle pass progress. I breezed through the first phase but the second phase is a real pain the neck.
I used it to grind lines I didn't have and to boost tanks/crews, etc. So yeah I would do the x5 missions and now I have noticed how slow the Yoh tanks are to grind without the x5. Feels like the old days.
The fact that x5 experience boosters are always active after the daily double is very irritating and has been for a long time. I guess it forces you to buy more premium tanks, because you'll have more tanks to get your daily doubles in before the x5 experience boosters are starting to be used.
Also, I completely share your thoughts on Top of the Tree. I have unlocked almost every tree*, so when TotT comes along, I buy the tank and use TotT to grind the field mods.
*= Funnily enough, I used blueprints to reduce the requirements of a lot of trees, and then ground each one in turn. When I had almost every tier 9 tank and hundreds of national blueprint fragments and a few thousand universal fragments, I realized I could use them to significantly reduce the grind to unlock every tree.
If they don't want noobs at tier X, why hand out blueprint fragments every now and then? I get them both from daily missions and from Tour of Duty. And now that I only have a few lines to unlock every blueprint that I get is for the new lines that I haven't unlocked yet, such as the British wheeled vehicles.
i work in the game industry at a Triple A company, its always monetization, always. There is only one way companies operate, and its how they can earn more money. If there is a route where they are slightly losing money because the playerbase is doing something to skirt a tough grind. Thats where they focus, because its cutting into profits

Thank you Quicky Baby. All you said is true. I was wondering what happened to the missions. There was no explanation. And yes.....we need a "button" to choose when we want to use our 5x EXP.
How about allowing players to choose whether to apply x5 mission in the post game results window? The same as with premium account multipliers?
the object 140 being top of the tree was the only reason i got back into this game and i had alot of fun making progress i even got my first MoE on the t-44 it is sad to see this system get so heavily nerfed
thank you for this video and shedding some light on this issue qiucky! i hope WG will overthink this change. As a newish player, I played most TOTT in the last year and had a great time. Now farminng those tanks feels so slow and inefficient.
When I last played WoT there were no loot boxes, field mods, top of the tree, boosters and gawd knows what else. Even then, the crew system was too complicated and too drawn out to be fun, the f2p grind to 100% in just one tank was a drag. Some of us just wanted to play wargames with tanks, not faff about with micro-managing crew skills and earning credits/XP.
Sounds like they've just complicated the progression of players to bamboozle them into spending real money, rather than just altering the amount of credits and XP earned per game.
Anyone who has read Joseph Tainter's Collapse of complex Societies knows that adding more complexity makes the system more fragile, more prone to breaking, and more significantly has a law of diminishing returns.

My first Top of the Tree was for the E50M, really needed to get a tier X in those days and I actually enjoyed my way until I reach the tier IX E50 with stock gun and that was it... But then, many more came and I am glad to have finished my favourite lines, but now it seems that it will mean, try to... or pay them the extra boost... At the end of the day, that's more likely what they wanted from this changes...

The main problem with the 5x exp missions from the bundle is that it will never be the same as the TOTT 5x missions. The main reason for this is because it STACKED with those normal 5x exp missions, giving you 10x exp.
This gave crazy exp numbers on great games... I think the highest I have been able to personally achieve was something like 24k exp, which might be another reason why TOTT was nerfed...
Also, if memory serves, the 5x exp missions were for every tank in the tech tree line. Now, the 1.5x exp only affects the tanks from that branch of the line (or Tier VI, whichever comes first? not sure)
Like the M-V-Y tech tree, the tanks that can complete these missions start at the Pawlack at Tier VI. Same for the Chinese LTs, which starts at the 59-16, which is also at Tier VI.
It is true that newer players need to learn the game before they hit mid-tier, but to be fair, tanks at low tiers play VERY differently than mid and high tier tanks in any tank line. And what about veterans who haven't even started the line yet? Tiers I-III are easy to get through, but IV and V are a huge grind especially for f2p, so this is a huge hit to not only new players but also f2p veterans.

Excellent call out on the "Pause 5x XP Boosters!" I wish this was a feature right now. I usually forget that I have 5x boosters, and then when I want to use them, I'm wondering where they went.
I loved the top of the tree missions and I also used them to grind the field mods also very sad this has happened

As a free to play player since 2016 i played Top of the tree twice, the first was the Leo 1 (got it), the 2nd was the Obj 140 and i didnt even manage to get it (not enough time to do)
Since Baldurs Gate come out, only the the top of the tree forced me to play some game daily in wot. But with the nerf, this was the final nail in the coffin for me and they lose a paying customer.

Very good points, thanks for the video. I've never thought about progetto nerf from popularity perspective, but now it kinda makes sense. Just kinda, because it is actually dumb, to boost the popularity of the unpopular or not that popular tank, and than nerf it because of the popularity. It is counterintuitive to say that the least.
Also, long story short: I've deliberately grinded type 5 heavy line, knowing it is bad (just for fun, I guess), I've completed all the damage missions and still stopped at 80 000 exp on type 4, with 170 000 to go : ) I was using exp boosters as well and I've already had o-ni in the garage. Without damage boosters, I would've stopped at O-ho or would've just reach type 4. With 140 tott, I've already had t-44 with 70 000 exp and I've just reached the object 140 with damage boosters. I've used free exp to unlock the top turret and gun for t-54.
The tott change feels thoughtless
I think one of the factors was that people accumulated too many boosters which went unused, so they introduced a method to drain them (same as happened with credits a while back). I actually enjoyed going through the top of the tree, and this was a total surprise and a huge disappointment. Actually made me stop caring and stop playing.
Yep, never much bothered with boosters until this month. 🤔 might be one of the reasons they made the change
they dont want to admit that what they did to the progetto was a mistake so instead of buffing it again they just nerfing everything else so they dont do it again
never been doing top of the tree (atleast not in purpose).
but due to small things like that adding up i've decided to cut my wot playing down from when this battle pass ends.
last few years been playing to complete battle pass. started doing it for the bonds and bounty equipment so i can equip my favorite tanks with best gear. and some fun gamemodes and events like waffentrager, mirny, christmas event, football event which was one year.
but due to wot meta getting so bad from wg making the game more tank and less skill based. (maps losing advantageous spots for certain tanks (heavies rush in light tank positions cause the can now), rebalancing maps so that hulldown monsters could hide their lower plates in every single map so you couldn't pen them in your obsolete tank, mm or rng being too horrible so that most of the battles end with either 15-3 or 3-15 and neither of those are fun battles)
so due to game being frustrating to play it takes around 2 hours to do all daily missions including extra mission which is the main progress in battle pass, i've decided to stop doing battle pass from next year. plus i've gathered enough bounty and bond equipment to max up my favorite tanks.
for me the math says in one year i'm spending 360 hours on wot to complete battle pass which isn't even fun to do anymore.
and i think it's time to relook the value of the game. see what is fun still in this game and do that.
for me the fun part is playing my favorite tier 6 tanks in random battles a few battles (around 3 to 4) in one session. some gamemodes and events.
and just observe how far this sinking ship is gonna get.
They lost me with Top of the Tech Tree when I found out that the so called 5x missions turned out to only be 4x. The 5x shows up in the battle results as "reward for completed missions" NOT a separate x5 like bonus or first victory. Because of that, if you do have apply a bonus or have a first victory, the completed messions computes out to be only x4 with the base xp not being included. The only way you would get x5 is if there were no other "x#" or any other item in "reward for completed missions " which is very rare any more. I had a long stressful back and forth with Support on this with examples. One guy from Support actually told me "x5 is x4".
On the 5x experience pause feature,they could go even better and add it to the same panel as the premium time boost.
"top of the tree" is the reason i didn't quit this game a long time ago,now i will probably play only special modes

the only thing thats is left is the credit sale on the tanks sadly. plus this month has two great tanks, T110E3 and Minotauro. would be doable to do both lines with the extra xp boosts and such but now i can only get one of them since there is basicaly no xp boost.
3 years in, I only play oh so often, and when I find a tank I cannot PLAY, I WILL only wait for premium and top of tree events to play it to get through it. Don't make unplayable tanks that make me stop playing
Result: I will think twice before grinding another line. Therefore I will play less, have less interest in the game and spend less money. I already thought about buying boxes this christmas. Thank you WG for making this decision easier.

Im a 39 years old play for free player, pretty hardcore. Since 2020, i,ve unlocked prettymuch every tier 10 with top of the tree feature... And unlock fieldmod in most of them. Now, im unlocking even tier 6+ with dedicated crew and top of the tree help, in combination with premium day gifted by wargaming and everything else to help the grind (x5 exp from drop).
Now, lookslike very disgusting the grind to the full unlock
I've been playing this game for 11 years, as a f2p player! But now it feels like it is finally time to move on (gamewise and with life generally? :D). This change is slowing down the normal f2p player in way it is impossible to grind. Sad. But everything must end, some time

I doubt that the problem would be that too many noobs reach high tiers. I saw so many people with 50k+ battles in tier 10 without knowing the basics that this is insane. New players never were a problem and never will be. Those 50k players who refuse to learn antything are a big problem.

ikr its actually baffling to me, i feel im improving every single session and have doubled my recent wn8 from like 1800 to 3500 in 2 years. And then i see lads with 70k games that play like i did at 5k lol

I thought it was called "On Track" on the American servers? Or did it change since I quit over the premium subscription?
Word of correction: NA used to have On Track, now it's Top of the Tree. It was never To the Top

Recently’I can not have fun with regular tier8 tanks ,those golden P.tanks are all rounder without shortage
I'm a mediocre player (since 2020). LOVED ToT to mitigate the pain of grinding through the upper tier tanks, (especially the nightmarish stock tier VIII tanks. The COMBO of ToT and BP helped incentivize my actually spending money to get the booster rewards for BP. Now, it will be a tougher choice, and I may STOP spending that money. I know I'm not good enough to play tier X games - so ToT was incentive to at least spend a portion (20%) of my game time at the upper tiers - and a 30 day period actually helped me (slowly) improve in some lines (others, not so much). The only benefit remaining is the discount on purchase price for the tech tree tanks - so, going forward, my ToT SOP will likely be, buy the ONE single discounted ToT tank - and I may or may not play it at all - since my incentive to grind new tanks for a month is gone. RESULT: Less likely to spend money. Less likely to play upper tier games, so less likely to imrprove upper tier play. For MY part - this is a ridiculously awful business model.
The only question I have is… did you really expect anything else
The only viable way to grind trees now, while maintaining mental health, is to wait and farm twitch drops tokens, then trade them for premium days and 5x exp multipliers, steam rolling through tank lines.
TOTT always seems to be on lines I'm not bothered about. Rarely get one I'm currently working on grinding.
I would have never played french or chinese LTs but now having some unexpected fun
World of Tanks is a full time job. I’ve never seen a company expect such a time investment into their game. People get up early or plan days off work to complete some of these crazy events with high requirements and limited time. There are hundreds of tanks and the game is nearly 15 years old. Allow people to progress easily and actually enjoy the game

Well. Top of the tree is part of the state of the player base. Its so easy to get a tier 10, and 70 % of the base dont have a clue about top tier play, hence we have all those steam rolls. So im glad it has finally stopped. Ill get the tanks eventually anyway
Maybe they have numbers showing a decrease in play of tanks that aren’t top of the tree but if so they should communicate that.
Me personally I would only grind when a tank I wanted was top of the tree then stop playing the game until another tank I wanted was top
I love how in wot tanks being invisible when spotted is a bug but in war thunder its a feature.
in wot its really punishing for you to play as an arty cause of low hp and low dmg output/shell meanwhile having an average of 40s reload. in wt you have shorter reload but you kill anyone meanwhile missing them thx to overpressure mechanic.
I'm still waiting for wot to bring back the average 1-2k dmg for artys on heavy tanks, to actually be usefull and not just annoying mosquitoes
I was waiting for a proper reason to quit the game and stop grinding all of these lines that i dont like in the first place , but the monthly top of the tree event was so sweet , that made me to follow whatever they put in it , now thank you WG , thats exactly what i needed

QB you're speaking from the viewpoint of somebody heavily involved with WoT. That's valid of course, but most players aren't that invested. Reality is that for me (20k battles) when I choose to even play the top of the tree line most of the time I got single 5x, per day, from one of the tanks and that's it. Even if I had 3,4 or even 6 tanks from the line eligible. Reason being is you need to win 2 battles with the second being top 10. Now I manage top 10 in 80% of my battles, but not all. And then winning is far from certain in this game. So I basically play for a given time until I get the season pass daily missions done or I'm out of time with the game.
As I said usually I got one 5x boost about 70% of the time, two 5x boosts about 20% of the time and none 10% of the time. My WR is 52%, so statistically most players in WoT will be doing worse.
Now top of the tree is just irrelevant. WG just threw threw baby with the water..

As a lonmg time player 12 yrs..top of the tree made the game more enjoyable as i took awsway some of the grind and falling behind due to 18 workdays. and as far as purchasing ^X exp ... i am with you QB i would love to beable to pick a choose which tanks id like to use them on

the 5x bonus isnt big loss i think, and the 1,5x bonus could be thought through better
but the damage bonus EXP hurts, it helped with getting over bad stock guns or bad tanks faster
overall i think its more of a grind now....at least the discount on tanks stayed...but on the other hand the premium consumables rewards are gone now, and i made like 1,5 million from selling them last month from Obj. 140 missions alone
