Glad to see more young foreigners have stayed in China for study and work since the last 5 years. There are huge opportunities for them looking for better work or studying Chinese culture. Meanwhile lots of middle class Chinese families chose to emigrate to western countries. It will take time for newcomers to see through social problems of contemporary China. I wish best luck to all newcomers in China.
Omg girl your slaying with this mak up, the lipstick is gorgeous and complement your eyes so well, teaching here is really an experience specially kids, but they are the cutest :)
The food issue is easy to rectify - pack sandwiches. Buying a loaf of bread and a packet of ham with some cheese or bringing Nutella or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches along with an apple or banana and some snacks like cookies or yogurt should keep you going for the day. It does me and it doesn't eat into my budget because I make sure it's part of my budget.
Glad to see a fellow Dane teaching English in China ;). Var ellers bange for at det ville være svært at få et job som engelsk lærer når man ikke selv har det som modersmål.
I read the whole description so I'm forced to say that you're so funny :D , pretty and thank u for being so open ! I plan on going there in the next 6 years haha
GreenEyedStarlet Hi, are you interested in working and living in China? I am an American who knows the director of a English language school in Shenyang, China. It is a full-time job, typically working Tuesday through Friday in the evening and mornings on the weekend. A comfortable apartment is provided and the salary is around $2000 usd per month. There are several other benefits such as holidays, airfare and annual bonuses. A bachelors and TEFL/TESOL is required. Let me know if you’re interested. This is not scam, I’m just trying to help someone who has a great job opportunity for the right person.
Adaeze E. Unfortunately, there is no online positions. It is a children’s English school so they are looking for candidates who can engage the students in person.
The Visa problems are an international headache, but in China it can be extra confusing. If you want a non tourist workers visa it will be hard in many countries nowadays. But indeed the last thing China needs is more people coming in, because there are already many people for not enough jobs.
I am not native speaker of English language but I am doing my best to teach English. My students are interested in English. I dance I sing for them to grab their attention. My students like me a lot. VPN is a must for every foreigner. I also suggest that everyone should learn Chinese to break the ice. Since I am an overseas student doing psychology, so I don't need to worry about the Visa. It is hard to get used to Chinese food, but the more you eat, the more you get used to it. Location is extremely important. I suggest that you should try to go to places where there are very few foreigners. I live in a city called ZhangZhou next to Xiamen, and the demand for English language is very high. Waiting for your Qs
I thought an English teacher has to be native English speaker to be qualified for English teaching in China, you mentioned about you are from Denmark, so, you are not native english speaker, how did you get the English teacher job in China? your reply is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
lol, I so understand what you mean about the canteen food. I was in Nanjing when I taught in China, 6 years ago, and the school food was over cooked and always with a mystery brown sauce. I tried to find something to eat there too but ended up giving my lunch card to my coworkers fiance.
hahaha you are amazing anyway, the way you talk is so sweet!!!...Im a non native speaker, working in London,QTS qualified but I wont get visa Z to work as non native speaker...so I think something positive in the video is you had that chance to work there babe!!!.,...Well done!!!
great vid...i'd like very much to teach in china...i think most of the pros a fairly obvious but i like to know about the cons from someone who's experienced it...
Hey, loved this video as I am planning to teach in China soon (hopefully) :) and I was wondering if you needed a passport from an English native speaking country such as the US or Uk etc.. to get in? As well as having a bachelor's degree and are they strict about this in China? Thanks x
Fair enough honey, do you know fo any programs or schools do avoid? I want ym chances of getting shafted as slim as possible. Also how common is this over there?
It's foolish to come over here to China without the correct working visa. The power balance held over you by the company that hires you is immense. If you get caught - the company will shed themselves of the blame and it's on you to pay the fine. You can get blackmailed into doing things you don't want and all sorts. If a company is willing to hire you and not provide a correct visa then its probably not a company you want to work for anyway... My 2 cents
Please don't go into a Chinese job with anything other than a Z visa. If the school tells you, "Here, we will apply for a different visa while we get the Z visa..." Don't talk to that school anymore. That means they are in cahoots with other people to do illegal things.
I learned a few things from Serpentza on TH-cam, according to him, 98% of foreigners are English teachers. China has more than enough Engineers and programmer, so no tech jobs. You can (1) apply from your country before coming to China. They pay about 7,000 RMB teaching in small town. Where the cost of living is very small. In major cities, the pay is higher, so is the cost of living. Or (2) if you are already in China, go to a school and name your price (higher pay than before coming to China). I do not how true of his statement? I have no way to verify. Let me reply more on your "biking in BJ".
I bet you do not live in Beijing, and do not really have a connection with the people around Northern part. People living in the HuaBei District are the worst.
***** That's... challenging, and you are very lucky to have many nice people around. Probably the locals tend to behave in front of a westerner, considering how much they care about "MianZi".
Sorry for not making my points clear, as there are so many aspects to cover. It is impossible to fully describe the situation here, but I am telling you this: Northern Chinese are the most selfish group I have ever seen. If there is a queue, they jump in and cut you through; if there is door, they jump in front of you and block the way making others struggle to get through; if there is any kind of service that is to be provided, they will not let others get it first. The only chance for our turn is when every one of them finish whatever business they have, and left nothing useful to them anymore, that's when we get our turn. This basically includes everything from walking on the streets, talking to other people, buying stuff, getting into an elevator, using public transportation, etc. They just will not let anyone get in front them for anything. However when they do get started with they business, they slow down dramatically. This country do not have enough resource for so many lives, such as water and food, healthcare, education, and even a graveyard. Despite those problems, they just keep producing new lives like crazy, shrinking other people's resource, and pollute in every way, most of them you make not think of, just to make themselves happy. And they are the rudest people on earth. They greets each other with dirty words. They do not know how to make a point using human language, so instead they shouts whenever their mouths are not closed, making it looks like the one with the loudest voice(noise) makes the point. They keep spitting right in front of your face you or near beside, even when they eat... They throw trash, make everything dirty everywhere, even the walls of their own building. They think they are superior than anyone else, so anything they want, you can forget about it. If you are feeling OK with these people, it is just because you are in a small group with mutual benefit. Whether it is for money, for safety, for information/skill exchange or for others. And yes they do treat westerners way better than locals, mostly because the locals really suck.
Roc Ren Really? I live in the north China n I do think people care much about themselves especially when they feel like insecure n wanna keep themselves all the time rather than being involved. It's a part of Chinese culture n I think maybe because China did build up the GFW which make the things worse because people are so insecure n can't get touch to the free internet. Everything has a reason...anyway I'm from northwest of China. I can't represent the people here but I definitely think you're half right half wrong. At least I'm not a kinda person like what you said 😂
***** Thus I wish you all the good luck with your staying here. As for me, when I have enough money or the right opportunity I am so going to escape from this country.
Noisy students? Sounds like you went to a bad school. Chinese students are famous for their good discipline. Only real bad, say bottom 10%, schools will have undisciplined students. Very surprising you ended up in such a school.
You definitely did not do your research before going! I don't know with its different via country's but it's definitely the Z visa, it may be easy for myself as from uk Hong Kong don't need visa! And for the class being noicey TELF teaches you and you have not managed to keep all the children's attentions and imaginations if they where not intrigued by making English fun to learn with games

I have always wanted to teach English in another country. It is nice to hear about the struggles and benefits. Thank you for the video!

Maybe learn to spell maybe before teaching English.
Everybody has an accent.

Watch China Uncensored.
And "serpentza" has a huge number of informative videos about China. He makes very good points.
Må man ikke ha et pass fra et engelsktalende land? Har du dansk pass?
Can you share those links you were talking about? Thanks.

That's some information.
Does Denmark speak English as official language? Your English is so great, just like your native language.
All Scandinavian countries teach English in school to an impeccable standard.

Being there gives you more power and leverage, but they don't want to pay you any more than you are worth to them. Naming your price is a stretch.
When should you apply, before or after completing university?
Is English the language of Denmark?
Dianna Cooper No, it's Danish

Define "fluent" then
She's danish , she's got a foreign accent.
Her English is fantastic though.
