I just love hearing gamers describe a game as not too challenging that Ive struggled for weeks and months to beat, makes me very aware of how much I suck, keeps me humble, thank you Mr. error. The famicom Kong game is legitimately fun.
Gamera 2000 is overall "just" a solid game but sprinkled in between are some really fantastic atmospheric moments and the vibes in the hongkong level are just immaculate! I can see why someone would like this more than the og Panzer Dragoon. To me the strength of the rail-shooter-genre is the spectacle it provides while never taking control away from the player. I think Gamera delivers in that regard.
Nice double dose of reviews! Both games look very worth picking up. And who doesn't like cheesy FMVs?? Especially when the fmv image quality is legit good for its time.
I felt like Kong would win by virtue of it being more "true to kaiju" - surely, that must be a factor here. I mean, you don't even get to play as Gamera in _his_ game. That's kinda stinky, lol. I like this format and idea a whole lot and would love to see it return to the channel in some form. There really are a load of "Kaiju" and "Tokusatsu" inspired games out there and this would be a good way to highlight them gradually (rather than doing one of your awesome, signature "Every xxx game on the yyy" style videos) and it's fun to take stuff that has no business duking it out either because of genre differences or time period/platform differences, and arbitrarily declaring a winner, lol. Imagine taking Rampage and comparing it to City Shrouded in Shadow. Or Godzilla Domination GBA and pitting it against its blatant inspiration, the King of Monsters games? Kaiju Wars vs The Movie Monster Game for the C64? Throw in a few Ultraman fighting games versus stuff like OverRide 2 or Gigabash, or even dabbling in Earth Defense Force games versus Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Video Game? There's so much potential here - you could have a pretty interesting series, man. Even if this Kaiju Throwdown is a one-off, great work as always!

haha yeah I should probably give the disclaimer that I am basically a gaming masochist.
About time Gamera 2000 got some more attention
I LOVE LADY KONG (flashes rapidly)

Good vid.
I remember watching the Gamera movies on Mystery Science Theater 3000. Given that the riffing to them were funny.
Two extremely solid 5/10s
lol pretty much! really enjoyed your King Kong 2 video btw!
